The form I filled out didn't ask about any other conditions I have or medications I'm taking, which could affect his diagnosis. I told him I had textbook symptoms of cricopharyngeal spasm and it seemed he'd never heard of it. He did a cursory exam, said there was nothing wrong, recommended Mucinex for my "sore throat," and sent me away. When I pressed him and asked what I could do to relieve the spasms, he said there was nothing. And he billed my insurance $800 for doing NOTHING.
