As far as surgery can be, this was a great experience. Dr Thomas provided all the information for making me comfortable with the operation and was very available after the surgery to address any of my questions with recovery. My knee has NEVER felt better thanks to the expertise of Dr. Thomas! I found his manner to be kind and welcoming. All my questions were answered. At 71 years old I was not ready to be a couch potato. Now with this surgery I am returning to my previous active life. This has been an amazing experience. If looking for a surgeon, please investigate Dr. Thomas. I do not believe you will be disappointed. His education is impressive. His selection of staff is friendly, supportive and attentive to details especially regarding insurance. My experience with Dr. Thomas and the staff at his office was excellent. It is evident that you are his number one priority when you are at his office and he will focus on you and your condition until an appropriate treatment plan is developed. I have seen him for two different injuries, and each time I was treated with the utmost respect and he answered all my questions until I felt confident in the established treatment plan. Both of my injuries ending up being non-surgical, and I never felt that he was trying to push me towards an operation or any treatment options that I felt uncomfortable with. Please be careful. Darryl Thomas seems like such a nice guy and you’ll want to trust him. Do not allow this man to operate on your body anywhere. It is my understanding that he no longer has privileges at several hospitals and has been asked to leave orthopaedic practices. He is not a good surgeon. What he did to my knee is unconscionable. My knee/life will never be the same because of his mistakes. Please look after yourselves and see someone else in Austin. Be your own advocate and get a second and third opinion. I would give zero or negative star rating if possible.

Though Dr. Thomas is not with this practice anymore, I wanted to make sure that I left a review for him because he was so awesome. Dr. Darryl Thomas was there for me when I hurt my shoulder. He went out of his way to fit me into his schedule because he knew I was in pain and, as a physical therapist, I needed to get back to work as soon as possible. Throughout the entire process, he was so patient and took the time to explain what was going on and what he would do to correct it. He even squeezed my surgery in on a day when he wouldn't normally have surgery. His staff was great and continued to follow up with me after surgery. Today I am 5 days out of surgery and I feel amazing. I have been able to wean off pain meds already and have returned to work. I couldn't have done it without the magical hands of Dr. Thomas. I will highly recommend him to all my family and patients for any surgical needs. His is the real, authentic doctor who cares. Not just someone looking for a paycheck.

BEWARE! He's a butcher. My 75-year-old mom fell and broke her shoulder in 3 places. Darryl Thomas immediately recommended surgery. Thank Goodness we got a 2nd opinion from Dr. Scott Welsh of Central Texas Orthopedics. He said that my mom's shoulder is healing fine and if it was his mom or any member of his family, he would NOT recommend surgery. WE LOVE AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. SCOTT WELSH! 2 years later, her shoulder is fine & didn't have to recover from the surgery recommended by butcher!

If I could give a lower rating I would. In the words of a patient with great regret...... get a second opinion even if he offers his services for free.

Dr. Thomas is Amazing. He is thorough and Kind. I feel as if he actually cares for his patients. If you are looking for a surgeon to do your surgery I would definitely recommend Dr.Thomas.

Dr Thomas has treated me since August 2013. He has remained diligent with a compassionate bedside manor and surgical skills of excellence. His office has had it's difficulties up front at times, but Dr Thomas is not only a phenomenal surgeon, he's a genuine man who truly has compassion and his patients by est interest in mind. Great doctor, explained my condition in detail and didn't rush me to schedule surgery. Everyone in the office was extremely nice.

Horrible experience with this doctor.

He requires new patients to take DNA/Drug testing and assures me that I would not be charged and that his office writes the cost off. I am now receiveing bills from Fortis Labs for $1400 and when I call All Star Orthopedics I am told by staff to disregard that bill even when i continued receiving delinquent billing notices fro Fortis. I brought this to Dr. Thomas' attention twice and he also told me to disregard that bill.His office refuses to correct this or give me in writing i don't owe.
