understaffed. Wasted my time. Unpleasant experience

I had an initial consultation with Dr. Mausner for an existing condition and to schedule a periodic colonoscopy. Due to my bad insurance (along with some conflicting info from the doctor vs the staff regarding coverage), I decided to get a much, much lower cost colonoscopy from an endoscopy center in the city. After those results were in, I wanted Dr. Mausner to help me manage my condition locally. I spoke to the staff, sent the test results to them, scheduled a follow up appointment and made doubly/triply sure with the staff that Dr. M had (1) reviewed the results (2) was OK that someone else did the scope. Staff said yes, yes, yes, yes (I asked at least twice). They even let me move up the appointment. The day of the appointment I drove to the office and found out that the doctor refused to see me because he did not do the scope. That's fine with me, and I don't argue with his decision. The staff had tried to call me to cancel with 15 minutes notice. As others have mentioned, the staffing leaves much to be desired: That is, the office is understaffed - plus you get a bit of lip and a lot of lip service with a smattering of gaslighting. I tried to get the doctor on the phone to register a concern about the staff and the late cancellation, but he chickened out (or he was never given the message). Oh - and is it acceptable for a doctor *not to have even looked at* new info on patient's chart until 15 minutes before you walk in the door? Not impressed. I do want to stress that they are all decent folks, and I didn't send them a bill for the ridiculously late cancellation! So don't let them charge *you* for a no show. The Reason why I looked at the reviews was due to the same problem that Do you previous patients that left the report had. I was attempting to schedule a double surgery to Surgeon’s at one time which would save me one whole surgery I loved Dr.Hasser and his bedside manner, And was very happy and satisfied that I found a good surgeon to perform what was needed. After I was just rudely hung up on I felt the need to look up the reviews I have dealt with the staff there and they have tied up my surgery by three weeks already as I explained it to them I was being spoken over, spoken down to and I did not appreciate that I have experience in the medical field and never once have I experienced such disarray on behalf of the staff I actually have chosen to get two separate surgeries because I have to find another surgeon because I can’t get past the staff or the right testing I need done before surgery. Reading the review made me feel much better that it wasn’t me, It was not the first time it happened but It will be the last. If you are going to act like you know what you’re doing you should really know what you’re doing and the staff there does not. Excellent Doctor. His wealth of knowledge and experience is the reason for my well being! He saw something in a routine procedure that many other doctors may have missed due to his old school approach and not taking shortcuts.

My family and I have been patients here for the last 8 years. Unfortunately we have decided to leave and use a new gastrointestinal specialist. First off Dr. Mauser has been a wonderful and caring physician. It’s the office staff now in place that has forced us to move on. They have a horrible attitude like they are running things instead of the physician. During our last visit to their new office at Mercy Hospitals St Ann Center we could here one of the staff members speaking about a patient and his personal issues. That staff member belittled the patient out loud after hanging up the phone. My wife and I along with another patient in the waiting area looked at each other in amazement. It’s unbelievable and very sad that things like this are allowed to go on. We’ve become so tired of having to deal with them we feel forced to move on. After speaking with another family physician we have been directed to DR. ROBERT S. BARTOLOMEO in Uniondale. Dr. Bartolomeo and his staff have been wonderful. We are very happy and looking forward to working with this office from now on. It’s unfortunate that Dr. Mausner and CHS has not taken more of an active role in managing a staff that should not be in the health field. I’m sure that they will be losing more patients as time goes on. It was a sad time for us to have to move from what we felt was a very good physician but what we found in Dr Bartolommeo was a god send. My family and I have been patients here for the last 8 years. My family and I have been patients here for the last 8 years. Unfortunately we have decided to leave and use a new gastrointestinal specialist. Dr. Mausner is one of the most competent practicing physicians. I was his patient for 20 years. I am pleased with his new affiliation with Northwell.
