I am honestly sitting here in absolute shock. My son went to visit my mom and he happened to get a coronary abrasion. My mom went to get him checked out at the clinic and first they would not accept my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance but I figured it wouldnt cost a fortune so I told my mother to go ahead and take him anyways since we live 2 hours away from her. She took him and yes he had an abrasion he was issued eye drops and he was fine. A couple of weeks go by maybe a month or so and I get a bill in the mail from the clinic. I called the number and paid the bill which was feasible. I made sure to ask the lady on the phone to make sure that we do not have any other bill out there...she assured me we do not. I just got a phone call today Jan. 4 from a debt collection agency claiming we owe $700+ dollars for this incident back in july. I am furious. I called the clinic to verify and was given TWO different billing phone numbers. I NEVER got a bill from the other billing office which is the EMERGENCY part of it. I cannot believe that a freaking coronary abrasion is costing me over 1k dollars!!!! How on earth does this freaking happen??? I have insurance too so it just blows my mind. I feel like this guy purposely is declining insurance so that he can then bill however much he wants. I feel scammed by him and the facility he works at and I promise that I will never ever step foot in this facility and I promise I will never recommend anyone in the area to this facility or this doctor. Dr. Daniel Kirsthner makes patients wait in the room for at least 45 min that he can bill comprehensive office visit. I was not familiar that a cold or sinusitis visit could be billed for almost $1000 to get RX for antibiotics at Advocate Health Care facility in Gurnee. If a doctor needs to spend 40 -45 mins to diagnose a child with sinusitis I am sorry he needs to go back to medical school. To put more emphasis to this my child is sick maybe twice a year with a cold and at the time of this visit no lab tests were done. My daughter was seen by him maybe 5-10 mins the most and the rest of the time was waiting in the room. SInce when does a doctor have a right to bill for a waiting time? To top it off my insurance was billed for a Facility charge for 40 mins totaling in $200 and that was not enough they also billed weekend charge on Thursday evening totaling $56. The exam room was filthy. I wondered why the other patient did not want to sign in for a office visit to see him because she was having allergic reaction to the medicine that was Rx by another doctor day before at the same facility. Well, now I know - because they bill about $1000 per visit. I do not recommend Advocate Condell Medical Center in Gurnee called Immediate Care Center to anyone. I hope insurance company will consider quality care check every year to consider them in network provider.
