Dr. Daniel W Hanson

My husband chose this doctor based on physician’s recommendations. He had an OLIF procedure in April 2018. I’ve been waiting to write a review in hopes that he would get better, but he has not. Dr. Hanson was courteous and seemed capable and we trusted him based on other doctors’ recommendations. Have you heard of Dr. Death? Google him. Because my husband’s surgery was botched. He came out of it in more pain than when he went into it and Dr. Hanson didn’t care. We were told the surgery would be around 2-3 hours. At 4 hours, I was asking questions, at 6 hours, I was terrified. Eventually someone came out to speak with me, not the good doctor, and told me my hubby was headed to recovery. Never saw the good the doc until my hubby was in his hospital room. When my hubby awakened, his pain was immense. He was treated with all the nice drugs that cover pain. When he came home, his pain was excruciating. I had the good doc’s number and texted him. He said it was normal and wished me a good Mother’s Day. How nice. We found out that the good doc decided to transfer post-surgical care to my hubby’s PCP. In what world would a surgeon refuse to see his patient for a follow up and refer them to a PCP?? I know it sounds unreal. It is. But that’s exactly what happened. And my hubby’s PCP was completely befuddled by it when he called the good doc’s office to confirm he was supposed to take over. He’s a PCP. Not a post-surgical doc. He did what he could in terms of wound care, which we had many issues with. But minor compared to the overall situation. Six years on and my hubby still has immense and debilitating pain. Range of motion is almost non-existent. Pain each and every day. He wishes to God he hadn’t had this surgery. I wish I would have done or said something sooner. But my hubby is proud and thought it was maybe his own fault. He followed all instructions and yet here he still is, half immobile because of Dr. Hanson. His range of motion and back pain was MUCH less prior to this surgery. Dr Hanson did my microdiscectomy procedure on 12/21. I had been in back pain for 10 months and it was not getting any better. I tried steroid shots, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, etc Nothing worked. I am one month post surgery and I'm near 100%. I could tell when I first met Dr Hanson that he truly cared about my situation. His staff was great too. This was truly life changing for me. I can't thank you enough Dr Hanson! Dr Hanson did my microdiscectomy procedure in 12/21. I had been in back pain for 10 months and it was not getting any better. I tried steroid shots, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, etc Nothing worked. I am one month post surgery and I'm at about 95% back to normal. This was a life changing procedure that he performed. I was beginning to think I would have the pain for the rest of my life. Thank you so much Dr Hanson! I could tell when I met him that he truly cared. The staff was great too.

My wife had been in severe pain for 16 years. She had seen many different Doctors over the years and all they had to offer is drugs. We were told every time we saw a new doctor there wasn't anything they could do for her. She finally found Dr Hanson who said he'd be able to help her. He did two surgeries on her back. The last surgery was done two months ago. She's still going to PT but the pain is gone! Everyday she's doing more and more. There are no words that we can ever express how grateful we are to Dr Hanson. When we read reviews for Dr Hanson the only negative things we read was he was hard to get a hold of. That's not what we needed to know. We wanted to know about results. What we found is if we needed to talk to him his staff would get him in touch with us. His staff handled everything we needed handled. As far as results He gave us our lives back after 16 years. Dr Hanson is amazing! We would highly recommend Dr. Hanson.

Did a great job, I was looking at a spinal fusion and reconstruction with year recovery and went for second opinion and I am now pain free with Dr Hanson’s minmimaly invasive procedure with a week recovery !

I had endoscopic nerve transection and the results are amazing. Dr Hanson called me the night after surgery to be sure I was doing well. Two weeks later I called him with questions and he returned my call the same day. I have had back pain my entire adult life. I had a spinal fusion with minimal results. I feel as if I have a new lease on life! I would highly recommend Dr Hanson.

Surgery day micro discetomy no pain after surgery actually ran a few errand with my wife after. Pain scale was an 8 prior to procedure. No pain meds needed after surgery amazing. Day 2 Doc called this morning to check up and answer questions no pain and had the best night sleep since injury. I had ivasive disectmy with a different Doc 18 months ago and the out comes are not even comparable the pain after and recovery were miserable. Thanks Dr. Hanson and great staff I have my life back

My experience with Dr Hanson has been exemplary. He genuinely cares how I am progressing since my surgery about 3 weeks ago. If I have a question about anything he promptly replies to address the issue. Dr Hanson also has a very professional team backing him up, Melina and Jackie. These two are simply amazing. Any questions I had of them was immediately responded to. I can’t say enough about Dr Hanson and his team. It is definitely a different atmosphere from other doctors I had dealt with.

Dr. Hanson recommended Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion of C7-T1.. Dr. Hanson has been extremely responsive and reached out to me the night before surgery to let me know he was available if I had any questions. He also called me the day after surgery answering any questions had at that time. I am now 2 weeks post surgery and can confirm that ALL of my pre-surgery pain symptoms have disappeared.

I suffered for over 4 months with lower back pain, left leg pain. Seen a Chiropractor with no relief. Dr. Hanson is awesome! His staff is amazing! I had L5/L4 Endoscopic Surgery yesterday and today I feel good, just a little stiff but I have NO BACK PAIN!!! Thank You so much Dr. Hanson

I had lumbar spinal surgery to remove bone spurs and other material pressing on nerves. I had been in constant pain when standing or walking. Another orthopedic surgeon said I had to have spinal fusion surgery to stabilize my back, involving a huge incision, long recovery. I wanted a second opinion and found Dr. Hanson who did minimally invasive spine surgery on my lumbar spine. Three weeks later I am walking and standing without any pain. Do your research and talk to Dr. Hanson.

I will be having my spine surgery in a week. I started seeing him at Midwest spine and he left to start his own. I was so impressed with everything leading up to this I followed him to Minnesota spine institute.. From what I understand, he is starting his own practice under this name. He cares, takes his time with you, and money is not his primary concern. I would gladly reccomend him to anyone. Find him at Minnesota spine institute.

DR.HANSON HAS BEEN THE BEST DR. I HAVE SEEN . HE LISTENS, HE CARES , YOUR JUST NOT A CASE NUMBER FOR HIM & HE NEVER WHO YOU ARE. I'VE HAD 2 NECK FUSIONS WITH DR. HANSON. HES SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR SITUATION BUT HES FUNNY TO.

He is a Great Dr, and I would recommend him to anyone...He tells it like it is, he cares about you not the money....He did an anterior/posterior fusion almost 4 years ago...and now I wanted him to look at my neck...but he isn't at Midwest Spine Institute anymore...and they won't tell me where he is...or they say they don't know that information...I do not trust anybody else with my spine...

I visited another spine surgeon, who told me I had to have surgery, but I wanted to get a 2nd opinion. I didn't really care for the first surgeon because I hit my "time limit" with him, so I got a 2nd opinion from Dr. Hanson who was recommended to me by a co-worker. I could tell the difference immediately. He answered ALL of my questions, which I had a lot of. He even called me back answering questions for another 30 min. He cared about my well-being as a person...not just a patient.

I have had a positive experience with Dr Hanson and his care team. When I had my back issues, Dr Hanson explained my issues, drew diagrams, wrote things down and showed me on my MRI. Dr Hanson presented me with options, told me what I could expect from each option and gave me time to decide. I tried some more conservative treatments at first but eventually had surgery ~ it was a success! I feel so much better and my only regret is that I waited so long. Thank you to Dr Hanson and his team.

FULLY EXPLAINED THE PROCEDURES, ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND BOTH SURGERIES WERE SUCCESSFUL

Dr Hanson is a unique in his patient approach in that he speaks with you, not at you. He thoroughly listens to the symptoms and provides alternative solutions to help guide you to an educated decision on the course of treatment that bests addresses the cause of pain, rather than just treating the pain.

I have had three lower back surgeries with Dr. Hanson. My issues were being caused due to a motorcycle accident over 35 years ago. I received two fusions and one surgery to remove bone spurs on my spine. I am 100% happy with my improvement!!! The surgery itself went very well...Dr. Hanson was very informative so about what would be happening to me. My pre surgery visits and my post surgery visits were always positive. Dr. Hanson is very encouraging at all points along the way.

Dr. Hanson was very thorough in explaining what needed to be done to correct my lumbar spinal stenosis and bone spurs. Once the severity of the problem was clear from the MRI, he rearranged his schedule to get me into surgery as quickly as possible. I am now two weeks out from surgery and the recovery is going very well. I would highly recommend Dr. Hanson to anyone who has back problems that may need surgery.

From start to finish Dr Hanson was excellent. I had a very positive experience with him and his staff. I felt I had a very complex problem and he helped me understand my problem by drawing me pictures and reviewing my MRI with me. I've seen other surgeons for my problem and they didn't give me the confidence and great bedside manner that Dr Hanson did. His surgical skills pulled me through and I have had a wonderful outcome. I'm so thankful for Dr Hanson. He personally called me after surgery.

Very personable and confident but also very hard to contact when there are concerns. He is out of the office or in surgery. I am sure he is, but many of us have to contact people outside of our scheduled day. It speaks to probable arrogance and a sense of superiority. My mom has had complications from surgery with him and he has not been very communicative post surgery. Wonderful before though. Posting this because it's been a month since last CT scan and has not called back. You decide.
