I waited a few months after surgery to write this review so I could say with confidence that I have no complications. I had a few "maybe could be better" comments I'll leave until the end. What's important is Dr Donato and support staff completed a complex surgery and I came out of it better than I went in. I was exceptionally afraid of needing a colostomy, to the point where I would rather leave any cancer and treat it via chemo/radiation instead, and he respected my decision immediately, writing it down on a treatment plan we both signed-- I wish all my doctors had that quality! Inform the patient but it's their body/life. There were a couple times it took longer than I would have liked to schedule an appointment, and there was a miscommunication between Dr Donato's office and my chemo treatment team about the timing of my surgery that led to it being delayed a couple weeks, but I think that was more on the other team -- they did not believe me when I told them Dr Donato's plan for me. I saw a reviewer say he's "cold" or "impersonal" -- I would say he speaks directly and focuses on the work. He answered every question I had factually but simply enough for me to understand, and I appreciated someone who got right down to the business of helping me as much as he could.

Dr.Donato is the best he cares about his patients takes his time so you understand what’s going on.He is always there to help. I have been seeing him for many years my overian cancer came back now I’am cancer free 4 years now. I see him for check ups and questions, he makes the time for you.He has the knowledge to help you.

Dr Donato and the entire team at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center were extremely kind, caring and helpful. I was able to get an appointment quickly, Dr Donato was wonderful at answering my questions, explaining surgical options and putting my mind at ease heading in to surgery. Vicki was extremely kind, caring and helpful in the scheduling process and quickly responded to calls and questions. The front desk staff were kind and friendly during check in processes and the waiting room is very comfortable. The entire team at Rose RMCC was truly amazing and made my whole experience so much easier to navigate. I absolutely recommend their team to anyone needing their treatment. You will absolutely be in great hands and well cared for.

Dr Donato saved my life. I was diagnosed at stage 4b and given a short time to live. Dr Donato operated and said to me after the operation “I got it all.” He did, 6 years later I’m still cancer free.

Really impressed with his work, skill, intelligence. Excellent surgeon! Only wish his 'bedside manner' was more patient and didn't rush me when I asked questions. I'm sure he sees a lot of my scenario, however it was my first time, I was scared, uncertain and worried. I wish he would have been a little more empathetic, descriptive and slower in the explanation of what was happening and took the time to help me understand so I was more comfortable. I had total faith in his abilities, I just wish I didn't feel so rushed, hurried and bothersome when asking questions.

Barely saw him, even after complications he never spent more than 3 minutes talking to me.

Excellent care. Good understanding of procedures. And everyone at Rose hospital so attentive to every need.

My experience with RMCC and Dr. Donato was remarkable. I had a sudden and serious situation and he and his team were excellent, quick to follow up when I had a sense of urgency and super professional, confidence building and a true expert in his field. Highly recommend Dr. Donato and his staff.

I was referred to Dr. Donato by my other oncologist from RMCC. I was diagnosed with stage 4 Bladder Cancer in May 2019. I did chemo for 6 mos., my Pet scans didn't show any cancer since then. Other than some cysts on my ovaries that more likely were benign, along with other images they were not sure of, my oncologist had me go to Dr. Donato for a biopsy. From that point on, Dr. Donato made me feel very comfortable with the biopsy, making sure it wouldn't hurt, which it did not. After a pathology report showed negative on my cancer still being around, he suggested that I could have a better quality of life with a surgery. I was wearing Nephrostomy tubes at the time, so, of course I was open to something different without having bags hanging down my legs. He explained what options I had. My bladder was shot, with a dead tumor inside. So he had to do a radical cystectomy to get anything out that could become cancerous leading from my bladder. It was a major surgery which I have never dealt with before. He explained everything to me, I was in the hospital for eight days. I felt very confident with him, because I knew he was a specialist in this field. There wasn't a time that I wasn't comfortable, he was there for me during the whole ordeal. Everything turned out fine, which I knew it would be with his expertise. I want to Thank him and his staff for helping me get through this. He is a wonderful Doctor. Dr. Donato was highly recommended my OB/GYN, Kathleen Tate MD. She said Dr. Donato the best! When I met Dr. Donato at my first consultation I knew I was going to be in good hands. Dr. Donato and his staff are very professional and caring!

Dr. Donato is AMAZING! and so is his staff. In fact Dr. Donato is one of the top gynecological oncology surgeons in the state - if you get sent to him, be assured you are in good hands. When I first went to see him, he did a biopsy and got the results pretty quickly. He knows my cancer is serious and wanted to get me into surgery fast. The hospital scheduling was slow in setting up my CT scan he wanted and I had my PA set that for me at RMCC. As soon as we had the results I went into surgery. I am amazed at how quickly I am healing and though the next steps in my treatment won't be pleasant, I am happy to finally be getting there. It is no reflection on Dr. Donato, my primary care doctor put me off when I first tried to get in to see her. But that is a different review. I completely trust Dr. Donato and his staff. thank you all for the wonderful care!

Dr Donato is a caring, straightforward, &an exceptional clinician. He is well-respected by his peers. With over 40 years of Gyne-oncology experience, he is, without a doubt, knowledgeable. I have worked beside Dr Donato as part of his surgical team for almost 20 years. When I needed surgery myself, I asked Dr Donato if he would be my surgeon. Without hesitation, he said “Of course! Whatever you need. I’ll be happy to help you!” My surgery went really well. My recovery was good. And I felt listened to and very cared for at my follow up appointments. Dr Donato performed a hysterectomy due my uterine cancer. He answered all my questions before & after the surgery thoroughly, sincerely & with compassion & empathy. His bedside manner is refreshing & upbeat. I highly recommend him especially When he can say, “You’re cancer-free.”

I was impressed with the professionalism of Dr. Donato and his staff. They were caring, knowledgable and organized. Their efficiency, attitude and hopeful outlook to put you at ease. Dr. Donato performed a laparoscopic total hysterectomy on me and it was amazing to feel little to no pain afterwords. I highly recommend him and his staff. Rose Medical Center nurses, Diana, Rachel, and Galena (pre and post operation nurses) provided excellent care.

I have the BRCA2 cancer gene mutation and my gynecologist referred me to Dr. Donato, who at the time of our consultation, encouraged me to have a full hysterectomy for cervical, ovarian, and uterus cancer prevention. Additionally, he explained about the "robot" surgery and the recovery. It was a fairly swift and pleasant meeting. On the day of the procedure, he checked in with me at pre-op to see if I had any questions. Then, at my post-op appointment (1 week later), he inquired as to how I'm feeling. All-in-all, my experience was good; though it seemed somewhat methodical, as I'm not the first patient he's had to go through this process with.

Everything went well.

Dr. Donato, all the staff at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers and Rose Medical Center were very professional, personable and reassuring regarding the prognosis, DeVinci Surgery, pre- and post-operative expectations, pathologies, diagnoses, etc. Outstanding care!

Dr. Donato was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. He was able to solve a complex gynecological problem for me using the latest robotic surgery technology and I've never felt better! He and the surgical team at Rose were top-notch and made everything go smoothly.

I am a healthy, active 63 year old woman who was recently diagnosed with Endometrial Hyperplasia, which is concerning for cancer. My PCP referred me to Dr. Donato. He was direct, but he also listened to me and appeared compassionate. His wonderful office manager, Vickie Powell, was able to get a prior-authorization from my insurance company. The procedure was a robotic-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy and it was outpatient. The staff at the Rose Medical Center Outpatient Surgery department was excellent and Dr. Donato's team was superb! I felt that I was in very capable and caring hands. I really appreciated that Dr. Donato came to see me in the PACU and told me there were no signs of cancer and that I would receive the final pathology report at my 1 week check up. I was greatly relieved! The downtime after surgery was minimal and I am healing well! I would definitely recommend Dr. Donato to anyone needing his services!

As his patient I can say that Dr. Donato & his team are exceptional. Dr. Donato is indeed a five-star professional---the best of the best.

I met Dr.Donato one time following my surgery. He inaccurately described my post surgical care (chemotherapy treatment). I learned this from the oncologist who is handling my care. Also my spouse and I didn’t care that he told my spouse my diagnosis before I learned of my diagnosis. It was not necessary that my spouse learned this before I did. When will male doctors learn that their female patients don’t want to be referred as young lady or girl. I am a 65 year old woman. I stopped being a young lady or girl a long time ago. Also disrespectful calling patients (the paying customers) by their first names unless given permission to do so by the patient. I didn’t so much choose RMCC. It just so happens that the place where I had my surgery had a relationship with RMCC. I can say that I am not completely happy with the care I am receiving at RMCC.

My experience with Dr. Donato and his office could not have been better. I felt confident with Dr. Donato's advice. He is the perfect mix of upbeat and empathy, and has a calming presence. Even the nurses at the hospital highly recommended him. And his office manager, Vicky, is great to work with too.

Dr. Donato has cared for me twice and has provided exceptional patient care. He is exceptionally knowledgeable in his field. I am completely confident in his judgement and recommendations for care. I am very fortunate that, through his care, I have had very good surgical outcomes. I would highly recommend him to anyone that needs care at a very difficult time. He truly cares about his patients and their families.

Going into an oncologist office is scary and I felt like I was rushed with my questions which I forgot half of them because of how nervous I was being here. I want info explained to me until I understand especially about something scary like possible cancerous tumor. Day of surgery Dr donato was short and rude to myself and my family that was in the surgery prep room with me. I didn't feel at ease about surgery, more like let's hurry up and get this over with. Disappointed with how I was treated.

well.....guess I am the exception. I will never go to him again if my life literally depends on it. I found him so cold, uncaring, and unpersonable that it left me very unsettled. I had a large tumor removed along w ovaries, and I received NO follow-up instructions other than for the first week. Never having had surgery before, I had no idea that I should've had physical therapy, at least long enough to learn how to best recover. I now have permanent problems because I had no idea what I should have been doing to heal. Although I didn't know to ask, I should have received that information. That is a HUGE part of his responsibility, in my opinion. Not only that, but after being cut open, having stuff removed, and sewn back up, HE REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY -- AND I MEAN ANY -- PAIN MEDS. I had explained to him multiple times that I had BEEN under pain management hadn't been for some time because my doctor no longer accepted my insurance and I had NO medication. I felt entirely belittled and demoralized, like I was some junkie looking for a fix. (I was 62 at the time, so....) Several months later, I changed my insurance and resumed seeing my pain specialist. When I told him how Dr. Donato refused medication for me, he was VERY upset. I found it easy to remember Dr. Donato's name because of the slogan I came up with - do not o go to Donato. Dr. Donato took the time to make sure everything was thoroughly removed and cleaned to reduce any chance of cancer cells being left behind. Dr Donato was a surgeon of a full hysterectomy for me 10 years ago. His work was skilled, through, and all of the tumors and cancer were completely removed. I am very thankful for this knowledge and skill.
