Dr. Daniel Anthony Caligiuri

Dr. Caligiuri is an excellent hand surgeon. I developed CTS from repetitive work injuries and was referred to him by another patient whose clean incision I admired. It was a workers comp case and workers comp is a very frustrating process for both the patient and the doctor. It is often fraught with treatment delays because everything has to be approved by the WC Board and covered by the employer’s insurer, who often refuses to approve treatment and habitually engages in delay tactics. Sometimes the doctors are unjustly blamed by the patients for these delays. I had my own frustrations with the WC process but I persevered. I asked Dr. C for local anesthesia during my CTR surgery because, as a fellow health professional, I was interested in seeing the difference between healthy nerves and sick nerves. I wanted to observe my own surgery. I was absolutely surprised to find I didn’t even bleed into the bandage post procedure. Dr. C recommended I massage the incision daily after it healed with cocoa butter or oil in order to soften the scar and that made a huge difference! I had both my surgeries done with Dr. C, one year apart. After the surgery he gave me his beeper number in case I had any questions or concerns. He always returned my calls within the hour. I have no complaints. I found him to be highly competent, kind, empathetic and very humane. He remains my doctor of choice for CTS. Thank you Dr. C! Dr. Caligiuri is an excellent hand surgeon. In July of 2017, I injured my left wrist at work and I was referred to this doctor by worker's comp a little over a month after my injury due to my job not reporting my injury promptly. The receptionist was not nice at all, I overlooked it because I was in too much pain and discomfort to argue. At the exam room, Dr. Caligiuri began to question and chastise me as if it was my fault for getting treatment a little over a month after my injury. I did my very best explaining to him it wasn't my fault, it was my workplace but it fell on deaf ears. Not only I'm injured, in pain but I was being chastise I,took it all in silence. Finally I started physical therapy and after five visits, I was informed to contact my insurance for more sessions. Both my job and worker's comp begin playing the blame game and I never received more treatment. The case was reopened in 2019, I was sent back to Dr. Caligiuri and again I was disappointed. He said there's no medical reason he can tell me why I can't make a fist with my left hand. The doctor made me feel as if, one, I was lying , second, it's all in my head and that's a very hurtful feeling. Before my hand injury I was able to make a fist, open jars and I'm limited, I cannot do those things. I have permanent damage. I would never recommend anyone to see that doctor. Used Dr Caliguiri for my surgery. Everything went well. I had screws and plates put in my right wrist. I come today after making an appointment only to find out that he needs to reopen my case and submit the necessary paperwork to get approval and paid for further treatment. Well as per his secretary, the Dr doesnt do that. If I want the case reopened for treatment I would have to pay $250. I called my attorney who stated I am not respondible for that. The doctor is supposed to do the paperwork and put in for payment. I then was asked to pay out of pocket by his receptionist. I told her why would i do that when I have coverage? I said can they put it thru my personal insurance. Well he doesnt take personal insurance. Very dissappinting the treatment and lack of infomation his staff gave me when I called for aapointment. At the beginning it was good. But now that im having problems again he is not being very professional in handling my needs. Very rude.

ABSOUTELY MAGNIFICENT. HE IS KIND,INFORMATIVE AND HONEST. HE DID A GREAT JOB ON MY HAND. I WORK FOR THE POST OFFICE AND NOTHING IS EASY DEALING WITH THEM. THANK GOD FOR SUCH AN HONORABLE AND GREAT DOCTOR. BRENDA
