The best part is that the Dr Cong Yu found the cause of the issues, whereas, my primary care, neurologist, and radiologist seemed to not even look at the MRI's. Dr. Cong Yu examined me, then looked at the MRI's and within about 5 min's found the cause and provided a diagnosis. My primary care, neurologist, and the radiologist all seemed to not even look at the MRI's, because if they had, I would not have had to go through this for the past 7+ months. If the MRI's were ordered 4years ago, when I first brought up the issue, we could have potential resolved this issue before it became as bad as it is now. Thank You Dr. Cong Yu

Dr. Yu is current in medical knowledge within his field of practice. I have spoken with Dr. Yu about options for surgery, medication, and even things I have read about on the internet. Dr. Yu gives a factual, educated response, even if it's not something I want to hear. (Example: I asked about cutting my abdominal nerves like what is done in the spine to "turn off" nerve pain. It was explained to me that this isn't possible for pelvic pain and why. I was unhappy because I had convinced myself it could be a beneficial option that wasn't medicine, but Dr. Yu explained why it couldn't be done.) Dr. Yu may even have thought I was an idiot for asking, but he entertained the questions respectfully.) I trust Dr. Yu for my care and have recommended him to friends and colleagues.

Awful experience, had to ask for a different provider, which delays my healing.

To be clear, I think Dr. Yu deserves 0 stars. Exhibits a severe lack of empathy; seems to hold himself in higher rank than patients; rushed & terrible communicator; does not prioritize patient wellness but max number of procedures. I am a PhD professor who teaches medical anthropology. Dr. Yu is a textbook case of someone who should not be in this line of work. And you don't need to be a PhD professor to know why--you just need to be a patient on the receiving end of his bad temper and poor service. My husband has suffered chronic pain related to his spine. His surgeon recommend a steroid shot, so he went and got one at another hospital. It didn't work because the person administering the shot delivered it in a spot other than what the surgeon had recommended. My husband then had surgery, to no avail. Enter our relationship with Dr. Yu, who was recommended for pain management. During the first visit, Dr. Yu did not impress. He rushed and did not listen. He made flippant remarks about patients with chronic pain becoming suicidal. He pushed a spinal stimulation chip that he is a fan of, but had no other plan except for another steroid shot. But the shot didn't work, we said. "That's because the guy who did it was too scared to put it in the right spot--it's risky. But I'm not afraid, and I will put it in the right spot," he claimed. So we decided to try the shot again. When the insurance denied it, Dr. Yu's office failed to appeal until we called them to remind them. During the next weeks, Dr. Yu left my husband in crippling pain with no medication or pain management plan, even though we let him know that my husband could not function. We asked about medicinal marijuana, pain medication, or ANYTHING else that he could suggest. He responded tersely, offering nothing meaningful. He was also shockingly ignorant of my husband's medical history, telling him to up the dosage of a drug that he was already maxing out--clearly he never read the patient's MyChart. We wrote to him asking, point blank, "What is your plan for pain management as the pain management doctor??" He reluctantly wrote a prescription for pain killers at an insultingly low dose that has no effect. The result was a patient in so much pain that he could not function in daily life. Finally, the shot was approved and we went to get it. We were received by Dr. Yu saying, "OK! Last procedure of the day!!!" He rushed through some waivers and blurted out that he was going to deliver the shot in THE SAME WRONG SPOT AS THE FIRST GUY DID. Mistakes happen, so it was just a matter of letting him know that the spot we needed was the spot the neurosurgeon had recommended, not the incorrect spot that had been treated previously. His assistant went to inform him. Dr. Yu did not deal with the confusion well. Or maybe he did not like feeling corrected. Or maybe the hospital overworks him and he can't handle all the stress. Whatever it was, it was ugly. He began by backpedaling and saying that the previous doctor hadn't done it wrong after all, rather, his technique may have been ineffective, and the shot is likely to work this time even if it didn't last time, etc. It was a lot to digest, didn't always make sense, especially since he was rushing and in a very bad mood. It wasn't just the information we were digesting but the prospect of having the procedure performed by a doctor who was angry and rushed. Not even two minutes had gone by when Dr. Yu grabbed his coat and said, "So that's it, you're not getting the shot." We said, "No, it's not that; we're just taking a minute to think about it." His response? "I don't have time for this! I have to be in the OR in 20 minutes!!!" Um, OK. We definitely didn't want a 30 minute procedure performed by a guy in a rush to be somewhere in 20 minutes, so we let him go. I feel VERY concerned about the patient in the OR, who was about to be operated on by a man in a rage. We will never visit Dr. Yu again. And we will be pursuing the matter with higher authorities in Swedish.

I feel I've gotten very good care from this provider. He's very thorough and organized and takes time to listen to and answer my questions. The only thing that is sometimes frustrating is waiting for a call back from one of the triage nurses. It can take up to 3 days

I have always had excellent care from Dr. Yu. I must listen carefully as he explains a lot! I've visited several back doctors over the years and he is quite direct and does his best to help me.

All Good. The only issue is the length of time it takes to get an appointment. You definitely need more personnel.

Dr. You and his team are the very best. I so appreciate his problem-solving proactive approach to issues of pain. I literally don't know how I would get along as well as I do without him right by my side.

Great Doctor

Everything went very well. My only comment is that he spoke very quickly so I had to ask to repeat things. The questions left blank were not of my experience.

DrYu had gone above and beyond to try and help me with my chronic back pain in my last appointment he could see how much I was in pain and made room in his schedule to fit me in for a procedure that afternoon! He did not have to do that. Yes I will agree he is matter of fact but that is because he has many patients to actually care for. i have looked for a Dr for years that would actually care. He does. I highly recommend him! He cares and will go above and beyond to help you! That all said he is excellent at his job and very thorough and listens.

Dr Yu answered all my questions. His ideas for treatment are sound and expected. I have not heard yet from those responsible for my next step.

Dr. Yu did a great job of assessing my situation, coached me to get a second opinion and put in a referral to make the second opinion happen but also get it scheduled really quickly.

My daughter was treated like dirt. Dr. Yu didn't have her medical records, just the results of her MRI. He told her that she was wasting away and told her that she would have to get a rod put in her back. She told him that she couldn't do something like that at the moment as her father was dying and would there be something else that she could do. She also told him that in the past, medical insurance didn't cover that. He asked her what her ideas were, and each time she mentioned something like nerve eblation or cortisone shots, he would say "no - what else." He then walked out on her! My daughter then told the front desk that she had never experienced such a rude doctor in her life and wanted a referral for another doctor. This doctor needs further education on empathy to his patients or he needs to be fired!

As far as I’m concerned anyone giving Dr. Yu a negative review hasn’t given him a chance. When I saw him the first time I was wondering if I should see him a second time. I have to drive a few hours to get to Swedish and I wanted to make sure my drive was worth it. Now, having seen him for about 7 years, I’m so glad he’s my dr. Dr Yu only cares about how many procedures he can do per day. He implanted my Medtronic device incorrectly and ended up having to move it!

Dr Yu has been great with me. Just had my second scs with him. I can't thank him enough for the pain relief

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HACK! As others have mentioned, Dr. Yu is very rude, condescending, does not listen, and assumes you are simply an addict. He is constantly recommending invasive procedures that my PCP and surgeon have already said would not work for my condition. The staff is just as bad- I left my sunglasses (they were an expensive gift from my wife) in the exam room, went back for them 5 minutes later and they were gone. Was told that I didn't leave them there, but they'd keep an eye open for them. This is when another patient said that he saw them with one of the receptionists. Sure enough, she swiped them and put them in her purse! DR. YU, YOU AND YOUR STAFF SUCK!

I have experienced the same. This doctor is just not willing to really listen to you. He seems to feel that what you feel and think is not important. He is very condescending and can be quite rude as if you are a silly child...

I saw him today. I walked out mid-way through the appointment. He is rude, disrespectful, dismissive, condescending, and all around lousy dude. Save yourself the aggravation and ask your referring physician for another pain medicine doctor. This man's English is poor too. His bedside manner is horrendous. I plan to write Swedish and tell them that I am NOT paying the bill!!!!

Would not trust anyone to him. Its about how fast he wont care about him. Practice communications is bad. Does not answering my chart messages. Scheduler Tasha is slow and unresponsive

I’ve been seeing Dr Yu for over 10 years He is a wonderful Dr, he is caring, takes his time and very thorough. I trust him completely

I was referred to Dr. Yu by a top rated Neurosurgeon to find a better way to manage my pain then just pain meds. I was 7 minutes late due to traffic during my 2hr drive. Dr. Yu would not see me because I was late. They told him my of my worries of being out of pain meds and need for the appointment to find a way to mange and his response was that he did not want to see me as I am a “pill addict”. He refused to reschedule. My Neurosurgeon was shocked, he refilled my meds and sent me to an Ortho.

If you are looking for a physician at Swedish Pain Clinic, avoid Dr. Yu. He is the rudest doctor I have ever encountered. Standing at a lecturn he interrogated me about my medical history. Very cold and detached almost contemptuous. There was no reason for such behavior. I had a solid referral from a respected doctor. I wasn't in need of pain meds. I was interested in any.additional therapies he could offer. He wouldn't give me time to answer the questions he fired at me. Very traumatic for me
