Reviews for Colston Freeman Mcevoy
If I had the money to, I would sue Dr. Colston Mcevoy for malpractice. Even though my case has always been severe, even life-threatening at times, instead of making sure I got in for appointments, she had me wait for months! Because she neglected me, I now have a colostomy bag. And I almost died before it was placed. She basically decided, from the beginning (I was 6.5 when I first saw her for a diagnosis), that I would have an ostomy and that was that. This woman has ruined my life! When I got the bag, it was fine, no big deal, 7 months later and I've developed granulomas and sores that make it hard for me to move for anything much more than drinking and changing the bag. I hope she reads this, and knows she ruined a 15 year olds life! I hope she also knows, I hate her with every inch of my being! If I had the money to, I would sue Dr. Colston Mcevoy for malpractice. No follow up with labs, tests or hospital stay and 2 ER visits. When I call the office to speak w the nurse we are told to see PCP or go to the ER.
The only confirmation that I had of the appointment was a simplistic text to my phone. When we arrived from an hour away the nurse told us that our appointment was supposed to be virtual and was annoyed that we didn't know that. The front desk receptionist then went on to ramble about COVID being a simple cold and that everyone was going to get it anyway and that people should just get over it. I was shocked that someone in the medical field would talk this way. Dr. McEvoy evidently agreed to see us and entered the room by saying, "you are here for nausea?". She had a rude tone from the start. I'm not sure if she even introduced herself. I had kept a food journal for 10 days that nobody wanted a copy of or even wanted to look at. I had gone to a pediatric GI hoping for some hand holding and compassion. My 12 year old has been miserable for months and our pediatrician said this would be the next step. If you are looking for compassion or any type of bedside manner, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! After over $2,000 worth of tests, we received a 2 sentence email from a nurse that everything was fine (only got email after my 2 requests for feedback). The office was annoyed that I expected to go over the results. After I complained that I expected someone to go over the results with me, Dr. McEvoy called me out of the blue during my work day asked if I had questions. When I asked to schedule a time to talk, she was annoyed and said she didn't have but an hour for lunch. The bottom line is that if your child is sick, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. They are not helpful at all and have zero interest in listening or reaching out to scared families. The only confirmation that I had of the appointment was a simplistic text to my phone. I brought my son to Dr. McEvoy after he had been puking 15+ times a day after having had the flu. She was kind at first, but very quickly, based on limited information, decided I was negligent by not returning for another visit even though I had been communicating through messaging with her about his condition and the need to try different meds. His condition takes months to heal and he was improving. She didn't believe me, ordered a lot of unnecessary tests, and revoked his homebound forms which are what allowed his to miss school and get help with make-up work. He was forced to return to school still puking after a night without any sleep because of this. When we went back to see her she was cold, judgmental, condescending, and didn't listen to me. I am the one who is with him nearly 24/7, yet she didn't think my constant observations were of value, only blood tests. She caused so much harm to me and my son during a very difficult time. What she did was unconscionable
I brought my son to Dr. McEvoy after he had been puking 15+ times a day after having had the flu. She said it looked like the flu damaged his esophagus, a condition that often takes 3-4 months to heal, but could be helped with medicines. She said we could do lengthy, invasive, testing to confirm the diagnosis but that the outcome would still be to treat with the medicines, so obviously I opted to not stress my son out further or run up unnecessary bills. She seemed fine with this decision. She said that if he wasnât improving in two weeks I should bring him back. He couldnât keep the meds down so I messaged her back and forth quite a bit trying different meds, none of which stayed down consistently. Three weeks later he was still sick, improving overall, but puking more at night. She had filled out homebound forms which gave my son permission to miss a lot of school and the ability to get assistance with make-up work. Out of the blue one Friday morning at work I got a call from the lady who does the homebound forms telling me Dr. McEvoy had revoked the forms and that if my son didnât return to school on Monday he would be dropped. I was beyond devastated, went to teach my class, and just started crying and had to cancel class. Then I realized I better go to his school immediately to see what I could do, but I was still crying and I rear ended a car on the way. There was nothing I could do. I had to bring my son to school that Monday after 24 hours without sleep and still quite ill. It was HELL and it was 100% the result of Dr. McEvoyâs actions. She had revoked the paperwork because I hadnât brought my son back in as requested. I thought the messages back and forth were sufficient, especially given that he wasnât expected to recover for at least 3 months and that time was really the only thing that could heal him. She never talked to me, never gave me a chance to explain, just revoked the forms and refused to provide more homebound until she saw him again. It was an abuse of power. She couldnât fit him in for another week and the forms couldnât be post dated for all the days he missed so he never got all the help he should have with the make up work. Then when I took a whole day off of work to drive up to see her for a completely unnecessary visit she was cold, harsh, and treated me as though I had been negligent which is the furthest thing from the truth. My son is my whole world and I was doing everything I possibly could for him. Furthermore, she didnât listen to me. I am the one who is with him nearly 24/7 and knows if he sleeps, eats, how much he pukes, everything, far more than she can know in a 15-minute appointment, but what I had to say meant nothing. In her eyes I was clearly negligent and stupid, and she was the smart, caring doctor who was going to save my son despite his having such an awful mother. I had even told her we were on the phone with my mom who is an excellent physician daily. Dr. McEvoy ordered a lot of bloodwork which was completely unnecessary given that he was improving, but I had it done so we could get the homebound forms. A year and a half later I am still getting bills for that day, several hundred dollars worth, and yes, my son is insured. I later learned from my sonâs pediatrician that Dr. McEvoy had complained to her that I was negligent in not getting the invasive testing that she offered to do, testing that may have injured him even further. Dr. McEvoy had never indicated to me that she thought the test was important or really needed to be done. Dr. McEvoy used poor judgement, abused her power, and made multiple decisions that caused harm to my son who was already suffering immeasurably. Doesnât she know that all parents love their children and know them better than she ever will in 15 minute appointments? We wouldnât be brining our children for help if we were as awful and negligent as she presumes.

I agree with others. Wish I had read reviews before I went. My daughter has had terrible stomach pain for a year. They did order an Xray which showed some issues but just did cleanse for a wkend and she was still in pain. Did not want to do further testing to discover why she was in pain. Took them 12 days to get back with me, even when I left multiple messages, and then they just put her on meds. Meds which have the side effect of constipation- one of her issues. Seeking a second opinion.
My special needs son needed to be evaluated for a metabolic disorder exam. Not given. Her suggestion was a colonoscopy cleanse in the hospital and then 1 year of chronic diarrhea to learn him to poop correctly. He is a middle schooler!!!!! I took him home, applied essential oils and massaged his abdomen. He has pooped everyday since then. WITHOUT the trauma of a cleanse. SMDH. Absolutely one track mind. No alternative was discussed. And I was not educated enough to understand the human body.
Our child has a rare genetic disorder that complicates their medical issues. Dr. McEvoy seemed to be unwilling to research the disease in order to better understand the effect it had on diagnosis and treatment. This was in spite of repeated requests from us that she do so. She treated our child solely as an GI organ system not as a person, and with little or no success. While a patient of McEvoy our child was constantly having flares, after changing GIs they have been in remission 8 years.

When Dr. McEvoy is a knowable doctor, her administrative support is rude to parents. Nasty nurses (especially Heather) who don't return calls. They don't send reminders of appointments, cancel and move appointments without telling patients and blaming us for it.
