Dr. Clayton Pickering

Dr. Pickering has been my PCP for over 10 years now and I really have to Thank him. He is such a “Rare Breed.” Unfortunately, I have had a lot of serious health issues over the past 10 yrs. requiring me to see many different Specialist at many different facilities. I am very grateful to say that I have had access to some of the finest Doctors in the world at MD Anderson, Houston Methodist and others. Some of them have literally saved my life. However, none of them are like Dr. Pickering. He is that Rare Country Dr. that is “old school.” He is smart, very knowledgeable and is always learning New Medical Advancements. More important, he is sincerely kind and compassionate. He very patiently listens then answers my “stupid questions.” Most importantly, above all, it’s easy to see he has my well being and best interest at heart. For that I am eternally grateful. T.L. Dr Pickering and the NP Jamie are very helpful and care. The only reasons for not giving 5 stars are call backs/communication after visit and waiting room time.

WARNING: IF I COULD GIVE A NEGATIVE STAR REVIEW I WOULD! Do not come here for a PCP is you ever want to see or speak to the actual PCP. Do not request virtual visits because they will not call. I have await almost 2 hours for a call. Every time I try to schedule an appointment with their PCP I get the nurse. The staff here is horrible. They have Misdiagnosed my children on more than one occasion. They do not properly administer vaccines and They are rude. They do not put you and your family first. Dr Pickering is the best. He really cares. I give him 5 stars. But the waiting time gets 2 stars. The only down fall is the waiting time in the waiting room. Be prepared to wait at least a hour past your appointment time.

I have never been to a doctor that was so attentive and helpful. He really listened to my concerns. The nurses and front desk help were extremely pleasant to talk to. They always answered the phones and answered my questions quickly. I will never go to another doctor. He is the best!

Love this doctor. He doesn’t run in & ask what’s wrong then runs out. He actually sits & listening about what’s going on in your life even if it means staying with his patients.1 hour!! Treats his patients with respect & even gets to know them, even joking with them so he see’s a smile. He is a professional, personal & a heartfelt Doctor

This was the worst experience I have ever encountered with any type of medical practice. I am not from this area,but frequent here often. I went into dr.Pickering office today to have two of my medications refilled. Initially I was seen by a nurse practioner who proceeded to question me about why I am not going to my normal provider and other questions that honestly didn't pertain to anything i was there to see the Dr. For. She proceeded to ask me if I was jus going to be visiting or would i like to switch over providers. I told her I wasn't sure but maybe. She then left the room took 10 mins came back and told me i wasnt going to be able to get my medication. When asked why she informed me word for word "that it was because it doesnt look good for me or the dr's office to get my medications from different providers." I didn't understand and she would not give me any further info. She then asked me if i wanted to speak to the dr. I said of course. DR. PICKERING IS ONE OF THE RUDEST MOST ARROGANT DRS or people for that matter that i have ever encountered. He obviously had his mind made up of the fact he wasnt going to refill my prescriptions i was met with indifference as well as a condescending smirk as he told me that he would not refill my prescriptions because in his EXACT WORDS "I DONT PRESCRIBE UPPERS AND DOWNERS" .....he then promptly left the room and left me sitting there. After 5 minutes or so he came back and said u need anything else. I said no he walked me to the front stood in my personal space over my shoulder as if to mock me as I asked for a card with his name on it.......I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT THE MOTHER OF MY CHILDREN HAPPENS TO GO TO THIS SAME DR. SHE IS PRESCRIBED THE SAME EXACT MEDICATIONS OH AND MIGHT I ADD THAT ON HER LAST VISIT NOT ONLY DID SHE GET HERS REFILLED THEY ADDED AN ADDITIONAL MEDICATION FOR HER....SHE ALSO TOOK THESE MEDICATIONS WHILE PREGNANT WITH MY DAUGHTER FROM THE SAME DR......I WOULD NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE NOT A GOOD OLE BOY This was the worst experience I have ever encountered with any type of medical practice. Went to see him and I had been sick for almost 3 weeks and he sat in his chair said his wife had copd and it's just part of life. 2 days later I got ambulanced to the hospital to find out I had septic pneumonia that got into my blood stream and I was hospitalized for 6 days. Have been back several times and I only have seen dr. Pickering one time the whole time I have gone to this clinic. Love the staff but the doctors are no good. The ladies at the front desk were extremely helpful with my insurance issues and getting me in as a new patient. I went to this office a couple days ago. The receptionist (an older woman) was rude. I tired to check in with my daughter twice and she told me she was busy twice. All the time she was calling other people to the office area. She made me feel unwelcome.

Dr. Pickering is our family physician. Three generations of us know that we will be treated with respect, have all of our concerns addressed and proper actions taken. He is truly a “family “ doctor. ????

My family has been going to Dr Pickering for about 13 years. My kids, grown now, still choice to go to him and take their kids to him. He listens, never pushes "the book" of physicians on you, knows when it's time to take action or just take it easy. I always recommend him to anyone who ask.

My boyfriend has IBS really badly. The only way he can go see a Gastro is to get a referral from his primary which is Dr. Pickering. He's been in several times, has had multiple blood tests, and many medications still to no results even after requesting a referral every time. He's basically laying around in constant pain because his staff is lazy and won't call to set up a day to see a Gastro. My boyfriend has IBS really badly. Dr. Clay Pickering was my doctor when I first realized I had diabetes over 12 years ago. Today I realized after researching m Only drug metformin, that for my type 2, it is safe, effective and I have been Only on this medication for 12 years. Dr. Pickering my A1c last week 6.3. Hi, Dr. Pickering. Thank you for all your time today. You are a great listener and Doctor. I did (am doing) something I have not done since I got sick. I'm a drummer. Played them most my life. You may not be aware, but drums are a great aerobic exercise. Sat down tonight to them and played them for the first time since before I got sick. Have played at least 8 full songs (Dish music channels). I am kicking butt!! Watching my O2 level also. Recovers well. I am going to turn my oxygen

I had moved to another Dr in the area. When asked about blood tests I had done and sent to pickering's office then reviewed by his head nurse then contacted me, I had found that those records were never transfered to my new medical provider which were very important. While I don't blame the dr. for this, it is obvious that not all your records are transfered in good faith to a new facility thus not having a good history of your own medical history for them to observe. Shame.

Dr. Pickering is such a patient man. You never feel rushed or unimportant in his presence. He is very funny and tries to show you the positives in your situation. He spends quite a bit of time with everyone so if your appointment is at 9:30. You might not be seen until around 10:15 or so. But rest easy knowing that he will spend that same amount of time with you. This lovely man will pray with you and help you as much as he can. I highly recommend him. He is a joy.

my. dad went to Dr. pickering for several years, complaining of fatigue and breathing issues. He was misdiagnosed with high blood pressure and other symptoms. The real culprit was stomach cancer which wasnt diagnosed until took him to providence in Waco. he died a week later. not a good experience.

Dr Pickering has been my doctor for almost 20 yrs. He is the greatest doctor. However since his office has been taken over by Goodall-Witcher I now have to wait weeks before I can get in to see him. That's very distressing when you're sick. I'm looking for another DO that is not associated with GW. Note: My husband found is brother dead in the hallway at GW in Clifton and no one noticed. My husband found him. I know of more folks with horror stories. I don't no why the board of accreditation keeps GW Clifton in business. I'm wondering in GW Whitney is using the same business model. My first visit resulted in waiting almost 2 weeks to see him. I had lab work done and found out results from lab a week sooner than the Dr's office. Even then they weren't complete and had to wait several days to hear from them again. I also had to call to get them to refile insurance claim cause they provided wrong number and insurance company denied it. While visiting Dr, he had told me he mainly serves on multiple Board of Directors providing his main income and being a family Dr was just a side business. Don't need a Dr like that and with the service we got made me find someone who cares. Don't recommend this Dr at all. My first visit resulted in waiting almost 2 weeks to see him. My wife has been seeing Dr. for about 10+ years. Since he became affliated with Goodall-Witcher she has been unable to get appointments to see him in less that 3 weeks. Just glad she wasn't dying. However, she now needs to see him immediately and she still can't get in for 3 weeks. She really likes him but she is being forced to find another doctor that she can see when she needs too. I have been to many doc. And never have felt comfortable enough to talk to a doctor, and dr. Pickering's bed side manor is so relaxed. And I highly recommend this office.

Dr. Pickering spends as much time as necessary with me every time I have seen him. His in-depth knowledge of many areas has been very impressive. I believe I have earned his trust and he has surely earned mine.
