My sister passed away 5 months after you performed hernia surgery on her, from which she never recovered. The autopsy listed the cause of death as damage to the esophagus from a previous surgery. The hernia surgery was the only one she had (with the exception of bunion surgery and appendix removal which was done 50 years ago.

I came by ambulance after I was stabilized Dr. Willkomm saw me and explained exactly what I needed and exactly how and when it was going to be done. I knew I was in good hands. After it was over I was wrong, I was in outstanding hands !!! He and the staff and the whole hospital are top notch. God bless and keep up the good work.

Your doing surgery on my dad Mr Davidson please take care of him as he is the world to his family. Please help him get back to normal. Our dad is the best and most humble man ever. Please keep him in good hands.

I was referred to Dr Willkomm after my Mammo was abnormal. He performed my breast biopsy and was very pleasant and the staff was wonderful. Dr. Willkomm is amazing!!!! He performed a hernia surgery on me Monday at Doctors Hospital and I was back to work on Tuesday with no pain meds and minimal discomfort. This was my first surgery and I was nervous, what a relief!!!! I would strongly recommend Dr. Willkomm to anyone.

Just Wow. This guy just blew all our expectations away. I was worried at first with a long wait time after checking in but within 5 mins with him you know why he could be late. He takes his time with you and you can tell he cares. He even drew pictures to help us understand all that was going to happen and did a wonderful job on my breast cancer. He even called us twice on different weekends to explain test results and reassure my wife. I will recommend this guy to anyone needing any type surgery.

Dr. Willkomm was recommended by my PCP because I didn’t know any surgeons here in Florida. I feel when I met Dr. Willkomm was one of my luckiest days. He was so personable that you really wanted to call him Chris but he was very professional. My surgery turned out to be more involved than I had expected but he handled it wonderfully. I’m doing very well currently. When I told folks who my surgeon was they all had said he’s great don’t worry, so I didn’t. My family and friend who waited after surgery for Dr. to explain how my surgery went they also were very impressed with Dr. Willkomm. All my follow visits in the hospital and office visits again I felt like I was his only patient. So if I could do anything I certainly would endorse him 100% and would be more than happy to have him do any kind of surgery that I might need in the future. Dr Willkomm has literally saved my life Two times. He has performed 3 surgeries on me and 1 on my father. Words cannot describe how much my family and I feel about this terrific surgeon.

I have had surgery twice, performed by Dr Willkomm. The first time was an emergency ventral hernia repair, which was life threatening. The second was a gallbladder removal. I was relieved that Dr. W was able to perform the surgery, I felt comfortable with him, which is a major thing for me. (I have had very bad experiences with surgery in the past.). Dr. Willkomm is an excellent doctor. He took the time to review my prior records, asked questions, conducted a thorough examination and offered alternatives to treat my symptoms. It is rare for a doctor to take the time that he did to help me through a difficult process.

I just had an emergency gallbladder removal and received Dr Willkomm as my surgeon. He answered all my questions and put me at ease right away. My husband also felt I was in good hands. He was thorough but not rushed.

I recently selected Dr. Willkomm to remove my gallbladder. At age 70+ this was my first surgery ever. I researched his background … medical school, years in practice, ratings on websites and discussed his approach to treatment with some previous patients that I know. He was extremely competent, easy to talk with, knowledgeable and pleasant…all without any "superior attitude". He explained the surgery in simple terms, the expected outcome and any possible side effects or recovery issues.

I am 72 and never had surgery in my life. I entered into this experience with some fear and apprehension. However, instantly upon meeting Dr. Willkomm I felt that he was treating me with the same care and expertise as if I was his father. I felt in good competent hands. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of his skilled profession.

When first meeting Dr. Willkomm you notice he is very young but after moment of speaking with him, he puts you at ease and you see how knowledgeable he is and compassionate about his profession. I am a "snowbird" who was scheduled to fly home 5/17/17. On 5/11/17 I presented in the Venice ER with bad belly pain and after a CTT scan was diagnosed with an acute appendicitis. The ER Dr consulted Dr Willkomm who did a laparoscopic appendectomy. I have to add I am an RN used to knowing all the doctors in Erie, Pa. and who I'd trust with a knife! It was really scary to walk into an unknown, untried ER and put myself into the hands of an unknown. But I prayed before I left home for direction and to be guided into the right hands. I am so thankful it was Dr Willkomm who was there! This man has it all. He is knowledgeable, well trained and experienced. On top of his skill, he is compassionate and cares for people where they are. He is easy to talk with and wants to help. This is his heart. I wish anyone with a general surgical need to seek out Dr Chris Willkomm. His office is on Nokomis Street in Venice, close to the hospital. Extensive pre-surgical evaluation and post-surgical followup. Consulted with other professionals during evaluation. Provided a caring and listening presence. Fully explained diagnosis and treatment in understandable terms. Involved patient in the decision-making process. Immediately responded to patient concerns during hospitalization. Provided excellent follow-up care. Extremely satisfied!

Dr. Willkomm was through in discussing my surgery, relieving my fears and was with me in every part of my stay at the hospital. He was a phone call away and always answered my questions honestly.

We feel that Dr. Willkomm saved my husband 's life when he saw him in the emergency room last February. Michael had a ruptured spleen and was on Xarelto which presents a problem when a patient needs immediate surgery. Dr Willkomm quickly called in a specialty team and they were able to place a coil in the spleen. When Michael needed a surgery this month for a large hernia we were confident in our choice of a surgeon Dr. Willkomm. We feel the level of care at Surgical Associates is top notch.

While visiting Venice, FL, I experienced severe problems with diverticulitis and went to the emergency room at Venice Regional Bayfront Health. Within 24 hours of admission for treatment, I was visited by Dr. Christopher Willkomm. He described my problem in great detail after having reviewed my CTscan and radiologist's report. We discussed surgical procedures & hopeful outcome in detail. I truly appreciated Dr. Willkomm's council and professional advice. I was very fortunate and feel great!

Dr. Willkomm was wonderful. He answered any questions, told me what to expect and was empathetic to my situation. The surgery was more complicated than expected and Dr. Willkomm took the time needed to do what had to be done and was very successful with all aspects of it. Dr. Willkomm and his staff are very professional, but also very kind and caring. Dr. Willkomm took the time to explain everything to my mother and then to myself. I did have to call him the next morning after her surgery for a small issue and his staff handled it right away. And the doctor did call me back within 10 minutes of me calling his office. Dr. Willkomm, also spoke to me right after her surgery and let me know how things went and what to look for. I rate this surgeon a 10 out of 10.

Doc performed an emergency appendectomy on me at around 1:00am and I was up walking around by 8:00 am the same day. Discharged in 2 days with minor pain. Back to playing golf in a week. Great job! Thanks ever so much.

I had two surgeries, colon cancer and breast cancer, both done by Dr Christopher Willkomm. Everything went fantastic, and amazingly I did not experience painful recovery and not used any pain medicine. Dr Willkomm deserves recognition : he listen to patients concerns, he is very human and knowlegeable. I definitively recommend Dr Willkomm.

My family doctor said go to THIS doctor and he was right. A similar procedure performed years ago required 3 days before I attempted to get out of bed and a month to get back to normal life. Dr. Willkomm's skill with laproscopic instruments permitted me to walk out of the hospital the same day, an outpatient with a minimum of discomfort. A week later I feel great but I guess I have to wait 2 more weeks for my body to heal properly.

Dr. Willkomm listened to my concerns. I have not had any hospitalization since I had My tonsils out when I was 5, I am now 71. I was well taken care of by the doctor and his staff both in his office and in the hospital. He explained what he was going to do to repair my hernia. I came home the same day and had NO pain at all. Dr. Willkomm demonstrated expert knowledge and skills in his area. His diagnosis of my condition (chronic cholecystitis) and recommendations were right, and my post-surgery recovery was amazingly fast.

I did not select Dr. Willkomm. I entered the hospital for an emergency appendectomy. Dr. Willkomm was the surgeon on call. All was well the day of surgery and then I developed stomach issues and ended up staying in the hospital for five painful days. I have no way of knowing if this was normal or not. I do know that I would never willing go to Venice Memorial Hospital ever again. The care given was well below acceptable!

Very knowledgeable and easy to talk to and ready to help , in my situation. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing this type surgery . Thanks to Dr. Barber for her recommendation. Everything went very well and I feel great. The only thing that has suffered is my golf game , it's off.
