Dr. Shaver is a really nice doctor and is very thorough. The reason I rated a 3 was because I would have to leave 3 or 4 (one daily and I would leave my messages before 2pm) messages before his Dr. Shaver's nurse would return my call. I've never experienced this in any medical practice that I've been to.

Disappointed. I was sent to Dr. Shaver by my doctor so he could take care of my stomach problems. I’ve had IBS for many years. It’s sad when a patient knows more about their disorder than the doctor. He prescribed a medicine that I told him I’ve tried and it didn’t help. Think he just didn’t know what other treatment options were available. I looked online and found many other options. I’m going to go to a doctor who knows what they’re doing. You should too.

I went to Dr. Shaver for a second opinion. He agreed with the other doctor about stopping my mesalamine, but he promised to prescribe me the medicine again at the onset of symptoms. About seven months later, I had an abdominal CT-scan done for kidney stones, which revealed edema in my Crohn's site. I forwarded the notes from the scan and explained the changes since my last visit. (Dr. Shaver's commitment as a hospitalist for Brookwood is a priority over his in-office patients.) After about 15 contacts, I received an appointment in two weeks and an understanding that Dr. Shaver would not be prescribing me any mesalamine, my longtime Crohn's medicine, that he promised seven months ago. My colorectal surgeon oversaw my care for 10 years, until I was diagnosed with hiatal hernia. Last week, I saw him for an unrelated issue, and he was shocked that I was I was not being prescribed treatment. I will have a bag in my future, if a doctor does not give me their signature soon.

Dr. Shaver performed a screening colonoscopy on my 86 year old grandmother. I believe his motives were purely financial given that current recommendations are to discontinue routine screening at age 75. HE TREATED MY LOVE ONE LIKE A PAYCHECK.

Horrible experience! He has a very poor bed side manner. He spent 3 minutes with me and did not address any of my concerns. His staff were very rude as well. I will never go back to this unprofessional “doctor”.

Great doctor. Arguably saved my mother’s life. Now, he takes care of all the digestive needs of our families. Awesome bedside manner. Always willing to explain & answer our numerous questions.

Chris Shaver is Great! He found Diagnosed my Celiac disease. The office staff is great. He is always willing to work a person into his schedule. The only negative thing is his physicians assistant is doing more of the work, and she seems very fake at times. He use to not have his CRNP walk around with him.

After reading the reviews, I was a little apprehensive about my appointment. However, I decided to go and I must say Dr Shaver was very nice. He asked questions and seemed to be concerned with my situation. I didn’t feel rushed or ignored. The staff was friendly as well.

Dr. Shaver and staff are all helpful, polite and thorough. Great doctor and staff.

outstanding experience. listened closely, reviewed my labs with me, made a dx, and provided a script and scheduled a procedure all in the same visit. will be back for sure!

He was very caring, and took time to listen. He goes above and beyond to help you. He is a truly wonderful doctor.

Save yourself a lot of heartache and see another doctor. I had pain in the upper part of my stomach for 3 months. I was in and out of Dr. Shaver’s office during that time. The staff constantly made me feel like I was over reacting, and one nurse went as far as to tell me that there was nothing wrong with me. I typically left their office in tears. In talking to friends in the medical field, they suggested it may be my gallbladder. I made another appointment with Dr. Shavers nurse practitioner and asked her if it could be my gallbladder. She said that based on my symptoms it was not. I had to beg them to schedule a hydascan to check. After my hydascan, it was determined that my gallbladder was diseased. It was removed 6 months ago and I feel 100%, but could’ve saved myself a lot of sorrow by seeing another gastroenterologist. Save yourself a lot of heartache and see another doctor. Dr. Shaver is smart and innovating. Lately he must be too busy for his patients. He dropped the ball in sceduling my daughter who was finally in remission from highly debilitating Crohn’s. She is falling out of remission with our last hope, Remicade. He will not return her calls. Highly disappointing and unprofessional.Also, highly uncharacteristic of the physian i have respected for years! Dr. Shaver is smart and innovating. Lately he must be too busy for his patients. Dr. Shaver has been our family's specialist for many years. His bedside and office demeanor are beyond any I have ever experienced. His knowledge is incredible and he isn't afraid to seek outside advisement if he feels that is necessary. As a patient, you are made to feel that you are part of the family. His advice, I feel is the same as what he would offer to his family members. I trust him implicitly.

Dr. Shaver is the most attentive Doctor I've ever been to and took the time to make sure I understood everything and answered all of my questions. He even personally called to check on me and give me my biopsy results after a procedure. He also went above and beyond to get me in to a good specialist for my condition. Everyone in the office was very friendly and it was clean and updated.

He listens and is thorough because he cares, which is more than I can say for some others I've been to in the past. Dr. Shaver has taken great care of me and continues to monitor my health, which I greatly appreciate! About to schedule a follow up now, as a matter of fact.
