Dr. Rittmeyer quickly added us into his schedule when my child was in pain. He has funny, personable, and kind. We felt confident we were in great hands upon leaving the office. Savannah is lucky to have him in our community!

My husband and I came to Dr.Rittmeyer seeking help with our son in 2016 who had systems of Crohn's like his father, but no other Doctor could figure out. Dr.Rittmeyer saw the symptoms right away and ordered testing and medicine that to my opinion saved our sons life. That was years ago and our son has had his ups and downs, but Rittmeyer and his whole staff of fine people has been there for our son and me and my husband. They've laughed with us and cried with us. Now my son is older and he has to move up to an adult Gastro. We will miss Doctor Rittmeyer for he's been our hero. Thank you so much and God bless you.

One star removed because I did not find the building itself to be up to my cleaning standards. I want to love and trust this establishment. I am a protective parent and I often get in my own way. The establishment could use a good cleaning or remodel. That was the first thing I noticed. When I think doctors office I think clean and I mean clean. This building did not live up to my expectations. However, Dr. R did. He was professional and made the whole experience a little less stressful for our child. We are grateful for Dr’s such as himself. He informed us what we thought was a major issue was just a backup. He did seem extremely busy which is sad. I hate to see doctors running around like crazy. I have been waiting since December to get a letter of medical necessity sent over to the company we use for my daughter's formula, it is currently May and they still have not sent the correct paperwork. I have spoke with several people from Rittmeyer's office several times A DAY and still nothing! The office manager is never there and when I did speak with her, she said she would handle it. That was weeks ago and now she's "out of the office for a while" according to other staff. I have been paying out of pocket for my daughter's formula since December at around $800 a month. The office definitely has room for improvements starting with staff and management that can actually do their job.

The staff was polite, but the doctor was extremely unprofessional & not kid friendly at all. Don’t waste your time going here.

Dr. Rittmeyer was awesome! Engaged with my boys in a really fun way, was telling jokes with them, also paid attention to what I was telling him and took the situation seriously. Glad to be working with him to hopefully resolve or at least understand what's going on with my child!

Dr. Christopher is one of the best Kids’ GI doctor in Savannah. He actively listen to your concerns, care for your issues and gives you the best course of action to follow. We had a visit Today and it went very well. He is very helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

Dr. Rittmeyer Is hands down THE BEST. For 1, he deals with BOTH of my children, both had to be seen within weeks of being born as they are allergic to the protein within formulas. My children after seeing him did much better. The wait depends on when, and how you’re booked, if you booked and appointment on Friday, and wanted to be ‘squeezed’ in then you should expect a wait, at ANY practice. If you chose a better day, different things happen. He is always kind and does not push medication but instead works through different areas to ensure it’s not something underlying. I think we should be worrying about if kids get better not if you had to wait an hour for him to help your kid. Because at the end of the day; he’s helping! We scheduled 2 appointments in one morning for 2 of our children with the promise of being seen with no problem. Their staff promised it was NO PROBLEM and that they could see us in a timely manner.  We waited right at 3 HOURS for our daughter to be seen by Rittmyer's office. Our son had just had major GI surgery one week prior and was miserable sitting that long. We had to finally take him to the car to vent the G-tube. Being a GI office you would think they would understand. My daughter was starving and also has GI issues so she was gagging by the time we made it to lunch. We have NEVER had this problem with an office before. We will be transferring somewhere more considerate of our time and medical concerns, where patients are a priority. Side note, on the opposite end....surgeon Dr.Carney is AWESOME. I cannot recommend him enough. But if you're looking for just GI, go elsewhere. I have been twice and both times there was minimal waiting and the staff was friendly. I do have trouble getting through on the phone but other than that no complaints so far. I have been reading these terrible reviews and I haven’t seen anything that has been mentioned. Don’t let these reviews deter you from this office.

We saw him for 5 appts. However we only saw him once l was not impressed wanted to do surgery right away without looking for all options first, turns out she / daughter was allergic to milk. His nurse practitioner was the worst and this is who we mostly saw for most of the appointments.

I've had to come here 2x and each time waited to be seen over an hour, in which I had an appointment. The staff is friend but the Dr isn't very thorough and the visit felt rushed. Find another GI for your child, if possible.

Dr. Rittmeyer was pleasant and engaging with my child, his demeanor and playful attitude helped to ease the discomfort he was feeling about his appointment.

After reading the negative reviews, I felt inclined to write about our experience. Our first appt with Dr. Rittmeyer was at 8:25 this morning. We were in and out in about 30 minutes. From the time we walked in until the time we walked out, we never encountered anyone that wasn't pleasant. Dr. Rittmeyer was extremely nice and suggested a simple approach instead of anything aggressive. Also, one review suggested that the office was very unclean, that was not our experience at all! Dr.Rittmeyer has always been welcoming and so nice! His office staff is ok, but he listens and cares and tells jokes that my sons always laugh at when we go. He is my son’s Dr and has helped us so much! I’m glad we have him as our Dr! I recommend 100%!

I highly recommend Dr. Rittmeyer and his staff. The office is very efficient, friendly and inviting. Dr. Rittmeyer is very knowledgeable, compassionate and has a great sense of humor. He turned an unpleasant visit into a positive one.

Dr Rittmeyer was nice up until he could not figure out what was wrong with my daughter. At that point he looked at my desperate daughter and to her face told her it was all in her head. Turns out she had abnormal symptoms of plain old lactose intolerance.

Dr. Rittmeyer and his staff has been amazing with my child and his care. My son was hospitalized 3 times, No one knew was was wrong with him and Dr Rittmeyer kept fighting for him.. I will be forever grateful!

I recommend Dr. Rittmeyer & his staff for youth GI services. They are polite, friendly, & knowledgeable. They ensure parents understand their child’s condition and treatment. I never feel rushed or ignored when visiting their facility.

Dr. Rittmeyer is a wonderful and extremely knowledgeable doctor. He has been my daughters' GI doctor for many years, and I highly recommend him.

Dr. Rittmeyer is a breath of fresh air. He was extremely kind and put my nervous 9 year old at ease immediately . He spoke directly to my son about his issues and developed a treatment plan to get him back on track . My son has been looking up jokes that he can’t wait to tell Dr. Rittmeyer at his next appointment. As you can imagine , this is pure gold for a concerned mom.

The staff and doctors are wonderful. They always have a smile on their face and are willing to do anything to help. They work with your schedule. The biggest thing to me was they made my 7 year old daughter feel completely at ease! She wasn't worried about the x-rays or anything. Everything is there and convenient. You hardly wait for the appointments or test results.

This is not about Dr. Rittmeyer, but his staff. Dr. Rittmeyer is very nice and caring person. The issue I have is with the staff. My daughter has waited almost a month for them to send a pre-authorization request to my insurance company. They keep telling us it was sent etc etc, but when I call the insurance co. they have not received anything. Very frustrating with a sick child trying to explain that she will have to wait to feel better. The person in pre-authorization in Dr. Rittenmeyer needs to find a new job or be fired. My daughter could do a better (timely) job and she has no office experience. Dr. Rittenmeyer, these people you have working for you are your first line of contact with patients, they represent you. My baby started with him when he was an infant & he’s 12 now. He’s the best ever. Very patient & gets the job done. I absolutely loved his service.

We love Dr. Rittmeyer. My son had a liver transplant and has had many bumps along the road. Dr Rittmeyer has been there every step of the way and always seems to appear at the E.R./hospital when I am freaking out for what is usually a stomach bug to reassure me that my son is ok.

Excellent Dr and staff. We had a terrible time between our pediatrician and a GI Dr in Macon trying to get a referral sent and appt made. We kept calling to see if the GI Dr received the referral and after having to call and leave several messages someone finally called back and told us that we had been calling too much. That is completely unacceptable to me being in the medical field myself. ANYWAY, We got right in with Dr rittmeyer office. We saw Dr Hamrick first who sent us right over to Dr Rittmeyer . He was compassionate, listened to our problem and concerns and addressed it immediately . The office staff was super nice and helpful as well. Oh my goodness, I read the reviews and almost cancelled my daughter's appointment. Dr. Rittmeyer and his staff were professional and very personable. We were treated as though my daughter was the only patient he had that day. He was very thorough and we would definitely recommend him.

I'm a 14 year old patient of Dr. Rittmeyer. I wasn't going to say anything but I saw all the bad reviews I changed my mind. While yes the appointments do take a long time, it is because he simply has a very busy office as he is the only specialist of his kind in the area. Dr. Rittmeyer saved my son many times when the pediatrician had no idea what was going on. My son went in for a routine follow up, found out he was badly impacted and Dr Rittmeyer had him immediately admitted to the hospital for a procedure that saved his colon from rupture. He is a wonderful Dr and he's great with kids of all ages. He's been there for my youngest daughter as well, pediatricians were puzzled for two months regarding her diarrhea and when it turned bloody she was sent to him he had her in his office within days of the referral and had in for an endoscopy really quick we were told yeast was the culprit and he treated her for that. Amazing!!! His staff is wonderful! We did not wait long, they were very pleasant and helpful! Dr. Rittmeyer was wonderful! I felt he was very thorough, and did not rush us. He made my son and myself feel at ease. I would HIGHLY recommend him!

From the moment you enter the office, you know that your child is the foremost priority for Dr. Rittmeyer and his staff. Everyone is focused on your child. They are kind, knowledgeable and understanding. Dr. Rittmeyer and his staff take all the time you need to explain what is going on, what treatment is recommended and to answer all questions and concerns you may have. I would challenge anyone to find a better practice of this kind for their child.

Dr. Rittmeyer is arrogant and only thinks my child is trying to get out of going to school. His main goal was to get my daughter back in school. His main goal should have been finding out why my daughter is in constant pain and fixing it. We went 3 times. The third time I requested my daughter's medical records and went somewhere else. Too bad he is the only pediatric GI in Savannah. Not helpful at all.

The staff is friendly and super helpful. I love the new office location!! Never a long wait and they always remember our situation- I don’t have to repeat our medical story every time we come here! I would totally recommend this office to everyone.

Wonderful doctor and staff. No issues with medications or procedures. Sometimes the waiting room time is long, sometimes it is not. Making appointments is easy in the office but I have a difficult time getting through on the phone. No matter what, I will always recommend Dr. Rittmeyer.

This place it absolutely ridiculous we sit for hours on end waiting for someone to remember we are sitting in this hot room I'm done coming here for my son I'm going to ask gor a transfer somewhere else

He is unprofessional JERK! Don't waste your time on a dr who doesn't listen or pay attention to your child needs! Stick to your mommy gut and not to what he says!

If you want a doctor who will not advocate for your child, you picked the right one. He is a horrible doctor with no bed side manner. It’s pretty much impossible to be seen and when you do show for an appointment it’s pointless to be given a time because you will for hours.

A wonderful doctor who also has wonderful staff is hard to find, but I was lucky enough to find them both at this office!! :)

Dr Rittmeyer and his Team are WONDERFUL. The discovered our daughters Gallballader issues and removed it within a few days. Thank you all for being in Savannah.

I must say as much as I read reviews, this is the one time I am extremely pleased that I didn't allow it to deter me from my decision in taking my son in to see Dr. Rittmeyer for the issues he was experiencing. After reading the reviews to say I was a bit apprehensive about attending the appointment was an understatement to say the least. I constantly advocate for my son with his health issues and I don't ever mind speaking up for my child to medical staff when necessary or reporting pediatric doctors with horrible bedside manner. (All doctors need it, but in the peds game, I find it absolutely necessary) I kept the appointment since Dr. Rittmeyer is the only pediatric GI doctor in the area. I went in with the mindset that I should give his staff a fair chance and worst case scenario if I am unhappy I will leave and simply make the drive to take him elsewhere. Needless to say our visit was a very good one. His front desk staff was very welcoming and attentive to everyone in the waiting area. As soon as I completed my son's new patient paperwork they sent us downstairs for an x-ray. Upon returning we were called back within 15 minutes max. Dr. Rittmeyer had a friendly demeanor, to which my extremely serious 9 year old son was very pleased and actually laughed and joked with him. They even had a full on discussion about my son's sense of style. :) Dr. Rittmeyer went and got my son some of his favorite fruits while we discussed what was going on with him and before walking to his office to view my son's x-rays. He was able to identify the problem and provide an immediate solution, while also providing insight to small things to implement daily to further aid in the end goal of what we needed to go for. He even talked us into going to see a movie over the weekend that he recommended and gave us the rundown on which movie theaters have discounts. The office itself is dirty. The floors need to be cleaned, the bathrooms reeked and the patient room we were in looked like it hasn't been wiped down in several weeks. Rittmeyer was unprofessional and arrogant. Without even seeing an x-ray or conducting any type of testing, he determined my son needed to do a 48 hour bowel flush (2 enemas, 2 full bottles of magnesium citrate, and 32 capfuls of Miralax!!!). He was then supposed to do 2 capfuls of Miralax and 3 Exlax chews EVERY DAY. Now I'm

Dr. Rittmeyer is great, but the staff at the front desk seem to do the bare minimum. I've spoke with the on-call nurse once and she was so rude and treated me as if I were stupid. I'm glad I ignored her and scheduled an emergency appointment (for almost a week later), because my son really was having digestive issues again. Dr. Rittmeyer himself is very courteous and has solved an ongoing issue we've had with my son so I'm very appreciative of him.

This office is horrible! They take forever to call you back! Took my daughter to multiple appointments and still no answers! Such a waste of time and money! Taking her to MUSC now because she is still sick! Wish we had more options in the Savannah area!

Absolutely loved this place! Took almost 2 years to finally get my son in to see a specialist and as soon as the doctor saw him he knew what was going on and go us set up to try fixing the problem. Definitely recommend this place.
