Dr.Elder is a wonderful surgeon, and he cares about his patients. I had pain for around 10 yrs., and had got worse the past 2 yrs. He did surgery on my right knee ,then later the left knee. Both knees I had meniscus tears, loose bodies,and my knee caps were out of place. Im in no pain now, it's wonderful to be able to walk and not hurt. I highly recommend Dr.Elder!

My husband had rotator cuff repair done by Dr. Elder. He was very caring and considerate and willing to spend the time necessary to explain the procedure carefully to us and to treat our concerns with compassion and patience both before and after surgery. Thank you, Dr. Elder!

Dr. Elder, his assistant Mark, and their assistant Michelle are a phenomenal team. The care I received was absolutely top shelf. Dr. Elder explained everything to me in detail about what I should expect and he was pretty much on the money about it all. It was six weeks ago and I’m doing better than I expected. Mark is excellent, professional and caring. Any questions and Michelle was prompt in responding, easy to talk with and if she didn’t know the answer she found out ASAP. Pain management was explained carefully and very effective. At the surgery center I was in at 7 and out by 12. Spotless facility and super professional staff.

He ruined my knee and passed me off to a pain clinic

NOT wanting treatment in East Tennessee, I looked outside the area to Asheville NC. I count my blessings having found Dr. Elder. I got my records transferred and had my first appointment. I have to admit I was apprehensive, as I am with all in the medical field, but Dr Elder put me to ease right away. I explained my situation (the apprehension) and my medical issue. He was very patient with me and clearly explained what my choices were. I told him I would think it over and be back in touch as to which way I wanted to go. My husband and I talked it over and I felt MOST CONFIDENT with going with the rotator cuff surgery. Am I EVER glad that I did. He has a wonderful beside manner, putting you at ease and making you feel confident that you have chosen wisely. I have NO HESITATION in recommending him to others. And when the time comes to have the other rotator cuff done (currently NO pain) I will run back across the mountain knowing I will be in the BEST HANDS possible.

Dr Elder is a wonderful surgeon! He has completed 2 rotator cuff surgeries for me. He has also done surgery on my knee and my husband's wrists. He takes time to listen to your problems and answers all your questions with answers you can understand! He has an amazing bed side manor and truly cares about you as a patient! He is the best! Dr Elder has preformed two rotator cuff surgeries in the past year and a half! He is excellent and has a wonderful bedside manor! He takes the time to actually listen and explain everything you need to know. He will answer all questions! I would rate him more stars if available!

He takes his time to listen to your problem. Explains all your options. He did surgery on my right knee. Did a great job. I would highly recommend him.

When I first met Dr. Elder, I was suffering with intense pain in my left hip, which was diagnosed as Bursitis. This condition had persisted for four years, and treating the problem with cortisone injections was no longer effective. Dr. Elder felt confident that surgery was the best course of treatment at that point, and he confided that my pain should be reduced by about 75%. I am happy to report that my surgery was very successful, as my hip pain has been reduced by about 90%!

Dr. Elder and his staff are all very professional and caring. Dr. Elder is thorough in his explanations and always up to date with my needs and condition.

Dr. Elder is amazing!!! I injured my left knee in a exercise class that was held outside during the pandemic. I think the pavement was the problem for me. I knew something didn't feel right because I started limping right after class. The very first time I met Dr. Elder, I immediately liked him. He has a great bedside manner and is very knowledgeable. His staff is also very thorough and friendly. X-rays revealed moderate to severe arthritis, so he offered cortisone shots which helped tremendously. I also got a knee brace that day and he prescribed some anti-inflammatory meds for me as well. That helped some, but I was still having issues, so an MRI was done, and it showed two meniscus tears. I was in surgery the next week! He did a fantastic job, and really took an interest in me as a person. Side note: I found out he is the orthopedic surgeon for the Asheville Tourist Baseball team. Wow! That made me feel pretty special that he was my doctor! Highly recommend Dr. Elder!!! 5 STARS

Very friendly place dr elders was great would recommend him

It has been a little over five months since I had shoulder surgery (rotator cuff, slap tear, etc.) with Dr. Elder and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. I appreciated his bed side manner, his encouragement, his willingness to explain things in layman's terms and the time he takes to answer all of my questions (I have a lot). Throughout all of my appointments with Dr. Elder, I have never once felt rushed. He genuinely cares about his patients and about your successful recovery. I am happy to be pain free and to have my range of motion back once again. I highly recommend Dr. Elder and his team for any of your orthopedic needs!

Dr. Elder did arthroscopic surgery on my knee last month to alleviate issues associated with meniscal tears that were causing problems for me. He did an excellent job explaining my options before the surgery, what he would do during the surgery and what to expect afterwards. This was my first surgical procedure ever and I don't think it could have gone any smoother. Dr. Elder was involved through out the entire process (Pre/Surgical/Post) and that made all the difference for me. God forbid i have any future orthopedic issues, I will be calling Asheville Orthopedic Associates and requesting Dr. Elder.

my knee surgery was more involved and Dr. Elder did a great job and explained the procedure in easy terms to understand. My husband will be going back to him for his wrist. The staff and Dr. was following safety pandemic procedures. my knee is right on track to recovery! would recommend anytime

Today, was my final post-op visit following shoulder surgery for rotator cuff repair. This was the 6th or 7th surgery performed by Dr. Elder. He has repaired both of my shoulders twice, my bicep, my knee, and my ankle. Every one of these surgeries was a complete success. Dr. Elder is caring and compassionate and I am extremely satisfied with his high level of expertise. He goes above and beyond to explain the procedure, and follows his patient's recovery closely to ensure the very best outcome and a speedy recovery. I will never go to anyone else for my orthopedic care!

He took the time to listen to my concerns and quickly had a plan to help solve my pain issues. He was totally honest with me on what to expect from my treatment.

I have had surgery on both knees, Dr. Elder did both, I would never go to another Dr, he and his staff are the greatest, it's like being around family, I feel he is the best in his field. I suffered with my left knee for over 20 years, and saw 4 different orthopedic surgeons, and they couldn't figure out what the problem was, over several visits to each. I have been a patient of Dr. Elder for over 8 years with hip pain. With every appointment, he was thorough, making sure I understood all components of my situation. He never "pushed" me into having surgery. He even encouraged me to get second opinions. He performed hip arthroscopy, labral and IT band release in the fall of 2019. I am 7 months post-op and my hip feels great. I recommend Dr. Elder for any/all hip issues one may have.

I hold Dr. Christopher Elder with Asheville Orthopedic in the highest regard and confidence! Prior to seeing Dr. Elder, I had THR in left hip (by a different ortho surgeon). Immediately after the THR, I began having daily pain when lifting my leg. After three years of pain and seeing several ortho doctors with no solutions for my problems, Dr. Elder immediately diagnosed the origin of my pain. After Dr. Elder corrected the IT band and psoas tendon surgically, I have had No More Pain when lifting my leg! Thank you Dr. Elder!

I have been a patient of Dr Elder's since October 2019. I have experienced two shoulder dislocations. After an MRI it was determined that I would need surgery to repair a tear in my labrum. Dr. Elder and his team have been wonderful throughout the appointments leading up to surgery and after surgery. I highly recommend him if you're experiencing any shoulder related issues.

I saw Dr. Elder for a shoulder injury. He is one of the most compassionate and thorough physicians I have ever met. Dr. Elder performed an anterior cruciate ligament replacement on my left knee. The operation was an astounding success and he did much more than just replace my ligament !! I am an extremely active 60 year old woman and he has restored my ability to do the physical things that I so enjoy. Dr. Elder stayed on top of the healing process 110 % and made sure that I followed the regimen that he recommended. Husband had carpal tunnel surgery and Dr. Elder provided the upmost care. His care and seevices go above and beyond!

Dr. Christopher Elder repaired my rotator cuff and bicep. I was very impressed with him and his staff's efficiency, professionalism and compassionate care. The surgery was just 3 months ago and I am already at 100% normal movement in most directions and around 80% but still making progress in the last one (well beyond expectations for results). My family and I will be seeing him for all our future orthopedic needs. I could not recommend him more highly.

Dr. Elder is the best Doctor I've ever seen. I have had joint issues my entire life and have seen a lot of doctors. He is caring, thoughtful, and always takes his time to explain everything. He has operated on both of my hips and my right shoulder. Everyone with these type of issues should see him. It is a comforting thought to have a doctor who you know you can depend on to take care of you. When I have other surgeries or procedures, I will only go to him. His staff is excellent and you can see they respect him.

I had laparoscopic knee surgery by Dr. Elder He was very professional, explained everything to me. Surgery went well. Each visit he had time to answer all my questions, did not appear rushed in any way. I would recommend him and I would also return to him if I had any other orthopedic problems.

Dr. Elder performed surgery for a major rotator cuff tear and a bicep muscle tear. He was very thorough in explaining the process and in clearly answering questions and concerns. The surgery went VERY well and my recovery was ahead of the normal. It's been 4 months and I have zero pain. My range of motion is very good (reaching behind my back still needs improvement but am confident this will continue to improve). Dr. Elder has been very clear in what I can & can't do with my shoulder which I take great heed to observe. He feels that in 2 more months all restrictions are basically done. I have complete faith in his abilities and though I hope to never need his services again, would gladly go back if the need ever arose. My only real complaint comes from the PA who assists him in the office (Mr. Rasmussen). He failed to clearly answer questions, screwed up a prescription and never gave me a physical therapy list as I requested ahead of time and I felt that he didn't want to touch me.

Bottom line, Dr. Elder is special. Highly recommend.

Dr. Christopher Elder performed my hip arthroscopy surgery. At 7 months post-op, my hip is healing nicely. I am active in yoga, light cardio exercise, and light biking. I am very pleased with the results, and I believe I will continue to see additional improvement in my hip mobility and strength over the next 6 months.

He is a great Dr. He shows compassion and cares about how you are doing. He explains everything simply where you can understand it all. He did my knee surgery, and I highly recommend him.

Doctor Elder is very knowledgeable and is an excellent surgeon. I was having issues with my knee and he and his staff took excellent care of me and listened to what I had to say. I had a meniscal tear and it didn't show up on the MRI. I also had issues with maltracking of my kneecap. Any other doctor would have sent me on my way because the MRI was not showing the issues. I couldn't be happier with my experience with this office and all of his staff. They really make you feel like you matter.

I found Dr Elder to be a very compassionate, caring surgeon who is excellent at what he does. He listens to you, gives you all the options (with possible outcomes) and lets you decide what is best for you. He is also very thorough. During surgery he found another issue that had not been identified on my MRI and, thankfully, repaired it as well. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
