Chima O Ohaegbulam

I was referred to Dr Ohaegbulam by another surgeon and I am so thankful for that reference. It’ll be 3 years ago this February that Dr Ohaegbulam performed a multi-disc ACDF spinal procedure that gave me back my quality of life. He and his team were very patient and explained everything including the procedure itself, the risks, and recovery. They walked me through every step of the decision and were a huge help working with insurance. Follow up after surgery was great. Dr. Ohaegbulam is an outstanding surgeon and a compassionate person.

I waisted 2 years having MRI’s and driving to Boston and he did nothing even tho I had severe back problems. I also had a cervical MRI and didn’t hear a thing from his office. So I finally stayed here on the Cape and saw a great neurosurgeon. By the time I had the surgery I could hardly walk. Doing very well now after 6 months.

Dr. O operated on my neck, doing a major fusion to relieve compression that compromised my ability to walk and use my hands. I was almost a quadriplegic when I went into the operating room. Several months later I was playing golf and enjoying my life again.

Dr Chima is awesome he’s a true caregiver he looks you in your eyes his staff is the best I’ve encountered during my recent injury personable helpful and compassionate I’m very impressed by their operation the doctor is the highest grade I’ve met I’ll refer him to anyone in need of his care

I saw Dr. Ohaegbulam recently for a surgical consultation related to lower back pain and sciatica symptoms ongoing for 1.5 years. He reviewed my records, my MRI, talked with me, and offered a fresh perspective on my situation. His opinion was that I am not currently a surgical candidate, and based on my atypical symptom presentation, he came up with a non-surgical treatment idea that has not yet been tried. He communicated that idea with my pain management team. This gave me hope. I guess a great surgeon also knows when not to do surgery. I also liked his knowledgeable but low-key and respectful-to-the-patient manner. If I do need surgery, or if my condition doesn't improve, I would not hesitate to go back to him.

Great guy and a talented surgeon. My wife had had a surgery with Chima about a year ago. Both the doctor and his staff were always very friendly and helpful - before, during and following up after the surgery.

Dr. Ohaegbulam is absolutely top notch in every way you hope a doctor should be. He operated twice on my mother about 10 years apart, once performing a cervical fusion and the other a lumbar fusion. He takes his time at every appointment to make you feel that you have every ounce of his attention. He is also very straight with you and not promising things that can't be done. After letting neck pain go for years and years and after getting a diagnosis from another doctor that said "I can't do anything for you, if you start to lose sensations in your limbs then come see me".....Dr. Chima right away said he could help, he couldn't promise he'd take all her pain away, but could promise it wouldn't get worse. He took her pain away and her quality of life is so much better because of him and both the surgeries he performed on her. His care, empathy, bedside manner and of course his skills will lead us to travel to him over and over because we're 100% confident in the care we receive with him and at NE Baptist Hospital. I can not say enough good reviews for this doctor. The hospital New England Baptist Hospital is excellent too. The staff is friendly and happy to assist. Dr. Chima Ohaegulam is the best surgeon I have met. I have degenerative disc disease and had several surgeries. Dr. Ohaegbulam has had to correct two surgeries I had elsewhere. He will listen for as long as needed. He is not Offended when I patient learns and educated himself/herself about their health related issues. I have experienced other doctors who will try to humiliate a patient for thinking they may know what our condition is about. Dr. Ohaegbulam is the BEST! I am sure his colleagues at New England Baptist are very good as well. But after meeting and have had him treat you, it is hard to speak of other doctors! Dr. Ohaegbulam is the best neurosurgeon spine specialist by far in the New England area. He performed a lumbar spinal fusion on me six years ago and I am preparing for another multiple fusion as soon as things settle down with this virus. I would rather wait for an appointment with a great man than to meet with a neurosurgeon who can see me immediately.

DR. Chima and his staff are the best.I don't even feel like I had surgery. I would recommend him to everyone.

I don't give 5 stars often. I think they are reserved for greatness. Above and beyond. I think Dr Ohaegbulam (Dr. Flash) and staff is worth the best rating you can give. The office staff is friendly. Does not feel like your in a Dr office at all. Marissa is amazing. She even deals with my obsessive calling all with a smile. You CAN tell when someone is smiling when talking. When you first call you may think it's strange you can't just make an appointment. At least I did. However what they request is Dr notes, MRI scans etc. They base appt on need. Now on to Dr. Flash. You will not feel rushed. We talked about my issues he listen while taking notes. He is very genuine and cares about his patients. He was great, made constant eye contact and has a way of making you feel at ease. Instead of rushing Into surgery which is needed he wanted all the Info from prior to my first surgery (Neck c4 c5 fusion). Plus other mitigating circumstances. So I sent Dr. Ohaegbulam around 6 more disks. Don't know where he found the time but he got back to me in the same day. Same day folks. Dr. O is an amazing neurosurgeon. He did an anterior cervical disectomy and fusion on 3 discs in my neck. A pretty serious surgery. He was the most compassionate, precise and thorough Dr. I have ever met. His staff is wonderful and the nurses were angels sent from above ???? I highly recommend Dr. O!

Dr. Ohaegbulam performed both cervical and lumbar surgery on my husband and cervical surgery on me. My husband had not had feeling in his feet for 22 years following a motorcycle accident in 1983. He woke up in recovery asking for the sheets to be taken off his feet - he could feel the sheets. Dr. O is amazing. I was terrified to have cervical surgery anteriorly (front of my neck). Dr. O was so caring and understanding and made me feel comfortable. He is a true professional but so down to earth. I highly recommend him. HE IS THE BEST!!! I would have given Dr. Ohaegbulam a complete 5 star rating except that when I wanted to talk to him about the increasing nerve damage in my foot, 5 years after my spine surgery, his staff told me that I had to set up an appointment as a NEW patient again, because their cut-off point was 4 years. He should have had the decency to talk to me NO MATTER HOW MUCH TIME had passed. I woke up with nerve damage in left foot, the morning of spine surgery; his responsibility was to at least talk to me.

He may be a wonderful surgeon, but it's practically impossible to see him. I tried in May to see him for an evaluation, but couldn't make an appointment until his office received my records. This took a few weeks. I never heard anything back, so, eventually, I called his office. I was in quite a bit of pain. I was told then that he could see me in November. I had to start over with another doctor, so that I was in pain for many extra weeks. He never called me about this despite many request

He gave me my quality of life back. My pain doctor said that Dr. Ohaegbulam is the best Neuro Surgeon in New England and after my surgery I can understand why he said this. The best bedside manner you will find. I had surgery 7 months ago and still no pain. I wish I had him do my first surgery seven years ago.

Dr.O said I should consider whether or not I could live with the pain from my first L2/3 fusion, botched by a Dr Nirmel @ Metro West in Framingham, or have him and his team work on me before any further damage took place. After a series of alternitives, tried in NEBH, I opted for the surgery. I am so happy I did. 9months post op and recovery is still ongoing but the "pain" is minimal and I'm doing fairly well for 67 year old. The nerves are coming back thanks to my surgery.

After spending three hours on the road trying to get to my appointment I was there ten minutes after his grace period and was not seen by anybody they wanted to make another appointment for my severe back pain thankfully I live close to Boston and there is plenty of neurons surgeons around would never even try to see this guy again or for that matter anyone at New England baptist medical center

In an initial consultation 10/16 Dr. O offered to review my lumbar spine for potential revision surgery. I have several serious conditions and numerous previous opinions. He asked for records from my 2002 failed fusion. It wasn't essy but he got them in one month. Gave up after 6 months and countless calls. Poor.
