I went to urgent care in January of 2021 with a swollen knee which was painful to walk on. I had iced it and elevated it at home first in hope of reducing the swelling, but to no avail. As I sat in the office with my mask on, the Dr walked in also wearing a mask (due to covid mandates). He sat across the room from me as I told him my symptoms. He never once examined my knee, always staying at the opposite end of the room. After telling him the symptoms, the only thing he did was to give me a list of orthopedic doctors and call one of them. For this Medicare paid $160 and my portion is an additional $30. I complained to my insurance company that for this he shouldn't be paid at all from both medicare and myself. I appealed this twice with Medicare, and denied each time. By the way, it was fluid on the knee that he could have easily drained, but instead sent me to another doctor that I needed to also pay.
