Dr. Charles A Wetherington

He is very knowledgeable and skillful. He saved my life and my quality of my life. I highly recommend him to be anyone’s doctor.

I appreciated so much feeling the friendliness and organization and professionism I experienced from Dr. Wertherington and the staff. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making a "scary- to- think-about" experience into an actually pain free one at St.Clere and afterwards at home!

Dr. Charles Wetherington and his staff (Neuroscience suite 200 St. Josephs Building at St. Clare) denied my mother her appointment for not having a translator. We explained that either I could translate for her or if the staff would speak slower and try not to use medical jargon, she could understand as well. The front desk said it was fine. We checked in at 1:45. At 2:22, the team lead, Humaira Danish, came out to tell us they will not be seeing my mother because there is no translator. She told us "this isn't SSM policy but every doctor has their own policy". We were so disappointed and shocked. When we told her again that my mother can go without a translator if they would be willing to speak slower, she stated condescendingly "well its already too late for your appointment." That is not OUR fault. We got there 40 minutes before that way before the appointment. They changed their mind on us and denied us the appointment after we waited and waited. They were not willing to work with us. Both my mother and I took unpaid time off of work to make it to this appointment. We definitely will not be using Dr. Wetherington and my mother has to wait a few weeks again to get in with another Neuro doctor. An absolute shame on this office staff. Treating foreigners like they're dumb. Absolutely disgusting. Highly recommend Dr Weatherington for all specialized surgical procedures. He performed a cervical fusion on me and the outcome, so far, has been positive. Here it is, day 2, and little pain and swelling has almost diminished. In/out the same day...AWESOME JOB!

i am grateful that i came to SSM but even more blessed and grateful for Dr Wetherington. He is kind, patient and really makes me feel like it's it's no big deal. he has answered any questions i have and is honest and forthright. i respect him as a doctor and a human being and he absolutely has my recommendation!

Some secretarial complaints on here... he isn't a receptionist. Great NEUROSURGEON.. his profession, not a secretary. He listened to my concerns and walked me through in a way I could understand. Post surgery he did the same with my loved ones.

Dr Wethering to had done a back surgery for me about 6 years ago I recently was recommended doing another spinal surgery by another Dr. I was not very happy with the other drs patient manner. I went to Dr Wetherington for a second opinion and he was extremely helpful. He fully explains 2 different procedure that could be done. He took the time to explain clearly and why one was better for me than the other. I never felt rushed He allowed me to ask as many questions as I needed. Dr Wetherington was the best neurosurgeon ever! He was the first one who explained to me about the etv procedure. He also explained to me and my sister exactly what was wrong with my brain and told me that I would need to work on my memory.

I love Dr. Wetherington. Hes done a lumbar herniated disk surgery and now a cevical fusion. Hes an amazing dr with a great bedside manner. I trust him completely. However, trying to talk to someone in his office is frustrating. Important questions go unanswered because they wont call you back. I needed to make arrangements for someone to drive me for surgery but I didnt even know what time my surgery was, until the day before. You can keep calling and leaving messages, but they just wont call back.

Terrible, horrible, worst experience ever. Find another doctor. You've been warned.

One of my worst experiences with a specialist! They left a voicemail to confirm my appointment LAST NIGHT so I didn't think I had anything to worry about. They left a voicemail 4 hours before my appointment (which I didn't notice) to cancel. So I went to my appointment, an hour away, only to be told they cancelled my appointment. Their reasoning - that he doesn't do the surgery I MIGHT need so he won't give an opinion. This would have been fine to tell me even a week ago but the DAY OF my appointment!? This shows they didn't take the time to look at my file until the last minute or they would have known that. The exact same thing was happening to the woman next to me. I believe our time is just as valuable as the doctor, or the nurses. If this helps someone avoid being the next difficult case they don't want to deal with, being left wasting a month of valuable time for their health, I've done my job as a human being. THEY did not. WE are going to THEM in pain, needing answers, help. Common courtesy should be a given at the very least. Needless to say..I do NOT recommend this office. All a great experience for myself! Was pleased with the Dr’s, nurses everyone the whole 3 days I was at the hospital! Totally recommend dr Wetherington 5 stars

Dr. Wetherington is great. He saved me from paralysis when he operated on the abscess in my back. He also in my opinion has great bedside manners and he explains your condition well.

Years ago was referred to Dr Wetherington and he performed surgery on my spinal cord doing a fusion of deteriorating discs. A couple of years ago had to see him again for problems with pain in left side which was different from the first time of the right side. Saw dr and had tests done and determined issue. Still didn’t get received completely of the pain but dealt with it. Now the problem has worsened, called to schedule an appointment and they refused to schedule an appointment even being a precious patient wanting to be seen because of same issue that has gotten worse. Wanting to require my general physician to order the mri when general doesn’t know what would need to be ordered since Wetherington ordered last time and handled. Common sense would tell me that he would know what needed to be ordered but his nurse seems to think different. Will never use him again or refer anyone to him and will make sure general physician knows how was treated so he doesn’t refer to him again. He's great. Friendly, doesn't brush off symptoms. Spent a great deal of time on my previous botched surgery.

I have had 3 Surgeries with Dr Wetherington at St. Clare Hospital. Cervical 3-7 Anterior, Cervical Posterior 3 thru 7 . Thoracic 1 thru 11. And Lumbar 2,3,4 . His Office Staff, NPR’s do very good. Dr Wetherington is very patient & nice, goes over your MRI very close explaining everything. After Surgery, he has XRAY’S and goes over the surgery result’s with you. Dr. Wetherington is an excellent doctor & a brilliant neurosurgeon. Highly recommend. He is kind, caring & patient & very thorough in his explanations. He did 2 surgeries for me, (lumbar fusion & cervical disc replacement, both multiple levels), & 1 for my 83 yr. old mother-in-law (lumbar fusion). All surgeries went perfectly. SSM Healthcare is very lucky to have him on staff. His assistants, Connie & Claudia, are also very nice & helpful, they are delightful actually. Disaster

Told me to follow up with him in 6 weeks after initial meeting as I was a new patient then cancelled and said he was not going to treat me a week before appointment leaving me without a doctor for my back injury. Nice knowing you !!

Cool guy. You can tell he knows his stuff. Sent me to pain management. Results with that only fair so I think we may be talking surgery this next appt.

After six weeks of waiting for my appointment I arrived and they proceeded to tell me I did not have an appointment. I had the document they sent me to fill out and it said April 10 the receptionist told me that my appointment was on 3 April and did not do anything to accommodate me I showed her the statement saying April 10 the office personnel Was unprofessional told me basically oh well you’ll have to reschedule. Very very disappointed in this professional atmosphere will not reschedule!

Dr. Wetherington performed a serious back surgery on my broken back and saved me from a wheel chair. He is intelligent, kind, performs gentle exam, listens well, explains well, and most important, gives you straight up choices. Excellent Doctor!

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Wetherington and Kim the Nurse Practitioner October 31, 2017. Dr. Wetherington and Kim were very thorough and patient. Dr. Wetherington's approach proved he is interested in exhausting all of my non-invasive options, even though he is a Neurosurgeon.. He and Kim's bedside manner was impeccable! When I left I was more informed about my condition, and options. I also feel comfortable going forward in their care should surgery be the only alternative.

I seen Dr for my neck and he and his assistant were pretty rude in my eyes. I will never go there again!

Great doctor! He has a great "bedside" manor. If you want someone to talk to you like a person and not talk over your head he is your doctor. The appointment wait time is longer but worth it!!!
