Dr. Charles Neal Lebovitz

My life was changed after Dr Lebovitz BOTCHED my routine appendectomy. What should have been a short surgery was hours long when both my large and small intestine had to be resectioned because of HIS mistake. E coli was released inside my body. I have had several infections since that are directly related to this situation. I have been placed on wound vacs. Things have gotten worse and worse for me. I recently had a bout with pancreatitis that is directly a result of several abdominal surgeries because of my routine appendectomy. So, obviously, I will NEVER recommend. Beware.

He took a Skin tag off the end of my nose and it turned out very good and he gave me excellent treatment wish I could get more things taken off but he's not a Dermatologist and how I wish that Mon-Valley Hosptial had more Dermatologist that takes UPMC for YOU

He almost killed me. Simple operation for a gall bladder removal. Should have been released the next day. Botched. Took hours longer than it should have. Ended up having to stay in the hospital. Even though I kept telling him something was wrong and my stomach was hard and big like a bowling ball, he kept dismissing me saying it was gas. Took 3 days before he examined the surgical wound and only because I insisted. My entire stomach had turned black. I was bleeding internally. Couldnt walk I was so weak. Ended up having to have two blood transfusions. When my mom complained because nurses were laughing and joking at the desk while I was puking and ringing the bell for a sick bag, he told her I wasn't the only sick person in the hospital. The site became infected from all the internal bleeding. Was in hospital a month. Two more months of home care after that. Lost income for 3 months. Then he had the temerity to send me a bill for $325. I refused to pay it so he sent it to creditors. Ruined my credit. Yes I owed it but he should have been glad I didn't sue him and let it go. If you value your life, choose someone else.

It's been a couple of years since I have seen Dr. Lebovitz. He's completed at least 8 surgeries on me with very good success and no complications. He actually corrected a very poorly done major surgery. I've always gotten along very well with him. He spends time discussing surgical plans and answering questions. If he is still I practice, I'd recommend him.

Dr. Lebovitz and his team performed a very successful gall bladder removal surgery on me on June 28, 2018 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. He was very experienced, thorough, communicative and helpful with me at each stage of the surgery from symptom analysis, pre-operation, operation, post-operation and recovery. I highly, highly recommend Dr. Lebovitz to all patients who have a gall bladder health concern.

When I went in for my first appointment he never looked at any forms I filled ou, did his check for a hernia, then said I can't k ow anything without your records from previous surgery. Then said to stay off work until then but when asking for the proper forms to turn in at work said " oh, we don't have anything like that, just go to work your fine" without any diagnosis

He was the second surgeon we called for my hernia repair. The first surgeon would have had me wait over 2 months for a consultation. Dr. Lebovitz saw me within 3 days of the call, and surgery was performed 3 days after that. He also accommodated my request for a different pain medicine than what had been prescribed post-op. Friendly and courteous staff.

Recently, I had appendicitis and Dr. Lebovitz did my surgery. Being this was my first surgery, I was terrified and anxious. But Dr. Lebovitz with his great bedside manner gave me reassurance and confidence. The surgery was quick and went well. My recovery was short and I was back on my feet in no time. My follow up visits were easy and my scarring was minimal and actually is fading. I was thankful to God to be in the hands of Dr. Lebovitz and his surgical team.

If I could rate zero stars, I certainly would. Implied I only wanted drugs for my appendicitis and that I was lazy. Would not listen when asking questions. Typical better than everyone else attitude. Would not recommend to anyone. Would recommend retirement to save others from such negative experiences.

Had surgery and two days later was ridiculed for utilizing pain meds and identified as patient as a drug seeker. Implied usage of illegal narcotics. Would not listen for explanation regarding other medical diagnoses that will require larger dosages of Pain meds. Will do follow ups to get released back to work and dismiss this dr out of my life!
