Charles Huh

My wife and I have been Dr Huh's patients for many years. We both think he is a fighly competent, caring doctor. He dealt successfully with serious problems we both experienced - ones that other doctors could not diagnose. Heil is currently treating me for complications incurred from abdominal surgery by another doctor. I have the most confidence that he will resolve my issues.

A+ in my book. Had me in and out quickly. Staff was top notch.

I have never in my life had such a bizarre appointment with a supposed professional!! After suffering for several weeks with gastrointestinal issues, he looks at my chart and says that because he did a series of tests 6 YEARS ago on me that all turned out to be negative, that there was nothing wrong with me now and that my symptoms were psychosomatic and I needed a psych evaluation!!! His exact quotes were “this is all I see. People come in here with belly pain and they’re suffering from PTSD bc they’ve been sexually abused. I can’t make this stuff up”. After stating that that’s not my case, he demanded to know what has happened in MY childhood. I said that nothing traumatic happened in my childhood but he didn’t believe me! He flippantly dismissed other medical issues I had had in the past. He reluctantly ordered an abdominal CT but he sure wasn’t happy about it! I came straight home and scheduled an appointment with Cleveland clinic the next day!! My jaw is still on the floor from this very strange encounter!! He shouldn’t be allowed to practice medicine

Never answer phone nor call back. So, don't waste your time.

Does not listen to patients, particulary if you are a woman. Will let you know that 90% of the problems he sees in women are all pyschosomatic. Has a mindeset that every woman in the area is suffering from PTSD, and that's all that is wrong with them causing their intestinal issues. Find a doctor that cares enough to help you find the problem and not one that is just collecting a check. I do not recommend this doctor to anyone, but women in particular should avoid at all costs. You will be wasting your time and money for him to tell you it's in your head.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Charles Huh for many years, and had found him to be a very reliable and compassionate doctor. However, I have been calling the office for the past six weeks leaving numerous voicemails regarding an ulcer that I developed do to medication following knee replacement surgery. My orthopedic surgeon suggested I contact my Gastroenterologist to be assessed and get put on the appropriate medication. No one at his office answers the phone. No one returns voice message requests for a callback. I don’t even know if the office is open anymore. I need to find a new doctor as I cannot wait any longer for someone to call me back. I’m beginning to wonder if Dr. Huh has left the area.

I had a colonoscopy and gastroscopy done by Dr.Huh in 2019 and 2022. He always responded kindly to the results. I was always anxious due to chronic hepatitis b, but now after taking medicine through Dr.Huh , my liver levels have become a normal. I’m so greatful to have a doctor like Dr.Huh who always kindly answers my questions or inquiries about my test results. I hope my experience will help patients who seek Dr.Huh.

After reading these reviews, it has confirmed my conclusion that the star rating for Google is sometimes inaccurate which is the case here. In my opinion the bad reviews were because of the previous staff and not the Dr. himself. However, I've used him since 2004 and he's an amazing Dr. Last year, I think the people working in the office were the reason for the low ratings however THIS HAS IMPROVED! The office is very attentive and just leave a message if they can't answer the phone to get a call back. Dr. Huh is the real deal, I highly recommend him for his work and also he's a really cool dude who will ease the fears of men, many who are afraid of Dr's. A great office staff now and Dr. Huh is awesome...totally!

Not a good experience. Saw dr Huh. He the told to talk to his receptionist. They said they would call me back to schedule next appointment. They never did. I called back. They had no record of me.

Dr Huh is friendly but not a good doctor. I was diagnosed with a rare condition after I did my endoscopy/colonoscopy with him and he was no help. Surprised to see some of the negative reviews, but do understand things can change over time and experiences will vary. My experience with this office and Dr. Huh, however, was nothing but great, from the welcome/front desk (very nice, clear and competent) to the technician, RN and anesthesia Dr. and team during my prep, to the anesthesia team in the procedure room. Didn’t see Dr. Huh until post-procedure (apparently I was out fast!), but when he arrived (twice), he was kind, clear on the results/next steps and efficient. Not sure what else people need? But again, every situation is different and not always routine, by any stretch, so I do appreciate that. Out processing was equally pleasant. I don’t like to speak poorly of medical professionals, my wife, my sister, and my father-in-law are all nurses, and I have nothing but respect for the medical community. I have had so many issues recently that I needed a procedure today. I saw Dr. Huh at St. Mary’s hospital in Huntington, WV. I was honestly thankful to be there due to the severity of the problems I have been experiencing. He walked into the room and immediately began speaking down to me. He was condescending, he was abrasive, and his overall bedside manner was deplorable. I have never in my personal, social, professional, or medical life had a healthcare provider make feel so ashamed and belittled. I was honestly crying when they wheeled me back for my procedure. There is no worse feeling in the world than feeling scared of what is going on with your body and entrusting a specialist in the field, and suddenly having all security, trust, hope, and faith ripped away from you. I have never been so terrified to leave my wife’s side. His nurses and staff were kind to me and even apologized for his bedside manner. I truly regret not reading his reviews before choosing him as my physician and that I can’t give him zero stars.

Dr. Huh was professional and thorough. He listened to my explanation of issues and concerns. He wasn’t rash or hurried during my visit. He scheduled additional testing quickly and met all of my expectations. My colonoscopy and endoscopy went smoothly. Dr. Huh is intelligent and capable. Would definitely recommend this doctor.

Terrible doctor and staff. Doctor doesn’t care about patient’s concerns and never call you back with the test results. Staff- poor communication between patient and doctor.

Stay away from this office...It is a scam and not a serious place. We have scheduled (TWIBELL - Please dare to call us) the procedure and since 3 days we are calling everyday, 9 times, to ask them about the specific medicine we need before the procedure and no one is answering. They failed to contact the pharmacy. The office is so messed up and poor responding and they charge 150$ for cancellation yet purposefully they dont provide the medicine to pharmacy or cause you failing your appointment. Dr. Huh was very dismissive of my wife. Told her that her symptoms were impossible when in fact she was having those symptoms. He dismissed everything she had concerns about. No compassion. It would've been more understanding if he had listened sincerely and then said he had no experience with this issue and she would be better suited looking into a different doctor who possibly understood the issue. Dr. Huh's office never take phone call. It is very difficult to make appointment.

Recommended as a knowledgeable and experienced professional Specialist. Also Medical Staffs are so Kind.

Dr. Huh is one of the most compassionate doctors you will ever meet. He truly cares about his patients and was available to talk whenever we needed him. Knowledgeable with great bedside manners!.

My experience was fantastic!! My nurse, Kim Marshall was awesome!! She explained everything in detail and took time to answer my questions. She was also very caring and checked on me often. She is a great asset to this department and is as kind and caring a person as you will ever meet. I want her as my nurse every time!! Lisa was my nurse during the procedures. She was great as well. I was very impressed with her. She explained to me how the anesthesia and the process would go. I felt very comfortable, relaxed, and ready for my procedures. Dr. Huh is a fantastic doctor. I would highly recommend him!! I found him to be very accommodating and his explanations of what to expect was very informative. I’m so glad he is my doctor!!

I have never had such a HORRIBLE experience with any physician. I left his office crying. Outrageously condescending. He did not look at my labs. Did not look at the reason for referral clearly stating I needed further testing for possible Celiac. He literally looked at me and told me my symptoms were “impossible”, not once, but three times. There is NO WAY I will ever be in his office again.

Worst experience I’ve ever had with any physician. He was outrageously condescending, telling me that my symptoms were “impossible” (not once, but three times). Did not look at my labs or at the referral clearly stating I needed further investigation for possible celiac. Left his office in tears and completely unheard. Total waste of time and money.

Dr. Huh is extremely thorough and professional. I was referred by the VA who sent very little information for him to work with. He listened to all of my questions, answered in a straight forth manner and noted what was said. He promptly ordered additional testing needed- promptly notified me of the results, I now have pending labs to rule out other issues. (Dr. Huh even answered my usual questions to any doctor I see. “Where are you from?“ “Where did you go to school?” ) He is highly intelligent and methodical. He may not be “bubbly” but he is an excellent diagnostician.

Don't ever go here, I waited for about 30 minutes just for a 2 minute talk and Charles Huh was a bad mood. $134 I had to pay to this idiot. Look elsewhere

Super smart, nice, effective. I'm a cancer survivor with late term effects who has seen a lot of doctors in the last 38 (post cancer) years. Dr. Huh is one of the very best that I've been to for gastro follow-up and several procedures.

Simply the best gastroenterology dr around here to me. I had a very good impression from dr Huh is that he really care about mentally, physically and financially towards to his patient, not just me I believe. Lately I have problems with my stomach, over the conversation he did all of the above. 2-3 years ago when I had endoscopy procedure I felt the same. But didn't bother for the review back then. Because of I am not big of writing nor speech. Somehow this time made me do this to share it. The office staffs I am not sure why, how but I don't want to down grade his performance as gastroenterologist dr. Not that I have any complaints at this moment. But I surely had in the past made me wonder about the staffs working in his office. Hope someday updated and upgraded admin and customer service to help him better ways. I had absolutely no problems with Dr. Huh or his staff whatsoever. Dr. Huh was polite, professional, and insightful. I had a very smooth and uneventful endoscopy procedure conducted by Dr. Huh, and everyone I dealt with, including the doctor, was forthright and courteous.

Dr. Huh is very condescending and I left his office in tears. He was rude and literally rolled his eyes when I did not hear and understand his answers. I have lived with my condition for two years and don’t like being treated so rudely. I requested another physician.

Good experience with Dr. Huh. Horrible experience with office staff and billing. They sent our account to collections with no prior notice and only 6 days after issuing a bill. Meanwhile, my Insurance company reflected the status of the claim as 'pending'. Ridiculous business practice. Would never go back.

From the outset of my interaction with your front office staff, I have been misled, misguided and altogether disgusted in the manner in which I was treated. First, I was told that a referral letter that my GP sent over had not been received, which was fine, but when I asked her to call my GP's office to request another fax, I was informed that she would only be willing to do so if she could manage to find the time to do so. The appointment for the consultation was scheduled for a MONTH out. She insinuated that it was not her job and, “how hard could it possibly be for me to bring the referral with me?” I did not have one in hand. Oh, and by the way, I have a job to do as well and it is not in the medical profession, as hers indeed is. I would imagine requesting referrals from other doctors is not outside the realm of her responsibilities. Second, I was told that the colonoscopy had been scheduled for July 11th, when in fact, it had been scheduled for the 10th. Not only had I arranged to take the 11th off, but I had arranged for transportation, which involved a dear friend taking time off work and rearranging several meetings at the pentagon in order to accommodate the mistake at quite the last moment. Third, a mysterious email that should have gone out to me explaining the procedure never materialized until the Friday before the procedure was to take place on Monday and after my requesting the information on three different occasions. This, after insisting that you, the doctor should have gone over all of this with me at the consultation. Apparently, this caused some confusion and a mild meltdown. Fourth, I was lied to on Friday, July 14th when I was told that the pathology report had not yet been received, but that I could schedule a time to go over the results with you at any time. Well, if the report hadn’t been received then how could I schedule a time to go over them with you. All I want to know is that I do not have cancer. I had a major episode of pain last Wednesday and twice on Friday night. This is beyond belief that we have yet to figure out what it is, but it hurts. A lot. Fifth, today I was told that I had, once again, been sent an email that has yet to materialize. I was informed that the pathology results had been emailed to me, when in fact they have not. I asked her to resend the results, upon which I am still waiting. I imagine yet another call will have to be made in order for them to appear. Then, I was informed that the tone I was using was unprofessional. You are gosh darn right it was and rightfully so!! There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of absolute reckless unprofessionalism, frank and rampant lack of compassion or utter incompetence. I’m sorry to say that this reflects poorly upon Dr. Huh, his practice and portends of gross negligence. I wouldn’t send anyone I cared for to this practice, not based on your bedside manner or even skills as a gastroenterologist, but rather for not ever wanting anyone I know to be on the receiving end of this front office staff’s lazy and incompetent manners. The client service in this office is horrendous! The office is shared by 2 doctors. Dr. Huh's receptionists choose to work in the back away from the desk. They leave a "call this number" sign at the desk. They are perhaps 15 feet away in an office. Just spent 10 minutes trying to get through to get a simple question. That's correct. Spent 10 minutes trying to contact someone via phone who was feet away from me. When I finally got through, I was told unapologetically that they "must have been on the other line". They were then unable answer a pretty vital question as to what prescriptions I had just been handed. As for Dr. huh, seems relatively competent but needs reminding of the reason for each visit. I had my colonoscopy 3 years ago and a endoscopy this morning......Dr Huh is very proficient great Doctor I couldn't even remember going through the procedures +++++++ Highly recommends
