Doc Goodwin was very soothing explaining everything in details which made it easier for me on deciding to go through with the surgery.

I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Goodwin on 9/21/21. I am both shocked and disappointed. To begin with he was over an hour late. NEVER even looked at any of my history, tests or MRIs. He works at HSS, the best hospital in the world. All the doctors I have seen don't know what they are doing. I am FAT. I should lose enough weight to reach my level from high school. The only cure is a spinal fusion. I would not survive surgery. In fact I will be dead in 5 years anyway. Oh and we couldn't use his examination room because somebody was exercising in it. I have never received such amazing service from the receptionist and compassion and time with a doctor. Dr. Goodwin came highly recommended by my brother in law. From the start I was beyond impressed with Shira the receptionist. Incredibly efficient, she contacted me to make an appointment with the doctor based on my availability and even assisted in scheduling my MRI. Additionally she got my insurance to cover the cost of the MRI. Which other offices have not been able to do. I eventually met with Dr. Goodwin and was blown away by his knowledge. Extremely arrogant and dismissive, had me read my own MRI report as if I went to medical school and expected me to understand what I was reading. Barely, if even, explained what my MRI report indicated. He also took out his phone and was texting while I was asking questions in regard to my X-ray and MRI findings.

I normally do not go by reviews when it comes to if the receptionist is rude or not but in this case they are correct. I attempted to Make an appointment as a new patient and the receptionist did not allow me to speak instead brush me off and said they could not see me. Smh

Did spinal fusion of L4 L5 in 1990 When I was 31. He literally saved my life. Almost 30 years latter. Still doing well

I thank Dr. Goodwin for giving me back my quality of life. His professionalism was outstanding and so was his bedside manner. His entire staff were so efficient and caring. I thank them all for making the process easy to navigate through. I would highly recommend Dr. Goodwin without any reservations.

Dr. Goodwin spent 15 minutes with me.He ask for an X-ray , he did not even look into my back and try to sell me his "friend" Physiotherapy that was not cover by my insurance. basically he just told me what i knew. And now i received a bill of $1650 dollars bill which of course my insurance is disputing.

I've had Dr. Goodwin perform 3 different surgery's in 10 years.Never have I met such a well educated and caring Surgeon.The DR. takes all the time to explain the details and is no rush to perform Surgery. All 3 operations were successful and I recommend for spine or back this is the doctor. The entire office is fabulous,Shira and John arrange everything as well as take care of all the documentation.

Horrible bedside manner. Very well may be an amazing surgeon but is a complete and total horrible human being. Doesn’t care about his patients and questionable billing practices.

DR. GOODWIN thank you so much for changing my life. He was honest and upfront , and after 20 years of back pain made me pain free.

I’m a dance and Pilates instructor. In 2016 I was in so much pain that I couldn’t sleep, I was teaching from a chair because I couldn’t move with out being in pain. Dr Goodwin performed a fusion of L4/5 and I woke up (in a lot of pain from the surgery) but the leg and back pain was gone. It’s been almost 2 years and that pain hasn’t returned. Called for appointment and was seen in two days. Dr. Goodwin was on-time, very kind, took time to understand the issue and diagnose (with xray). Conclusion was no surgery needed. Wondeful fellow.

I had high hopes after the initial visit but everything went downhill from there.We were sent for another MRI because the ones done before showed a herniation that was not noted in the report. I did not know the report would have to state what a Dr. can see. When the new MRI was looked at the Dr. was very happy he was right as he stated multiple times. When I asked what the report said and how was it different from the other MRI reports he said he did not understand what I was saying. An A1C test was requested. We complied and we never heard back from the Doctor. had a two level cervical fusion by Goodwin, he never fixed the problem, dismissed my pain after the surgery, treatment I received was worse than a dog, my pain management doc sees many complaints by patients with him. I found a wonderful neurosurgeon to repair his mess but I'm still left with unnecessary metal in my neck that he put in which serves no purpose. Great experience. Gave me back my life. Very nice as well.

I saw Dr. Goodwin for a second opinion about spinal fusion to relieve back pain and chose him to do the surgery. The doctor explained his recommendation and patiently answered all of my questions. The surgery went as he described and my recovery is well underway. The improvement was noticeable right away, and I think will become even better as I become stronger. Dr. Goodwin's office was also very responsive when I had questions for the doctor between appointments.

It has been one month since Dr. Goodwin performed laminectomy and instrumented spinal fusion on my l4,l5, s1 vertebrae. This is major surgery and I am so happy I did the research and found him. He spent over 2 hours w/ me and my wife in our first visit and I left knowing I was in the right hands. He then had me see a neurologist and do an MRI. These were reviewed at the second appointment and I decided to have the operation. He listened intently and was honest and caring. Five stars!

Extremely satisfied with Dr Goodwin, was going to physical therapy for lower back pain, my physical therapist recommended Dr Goodwin. I called and was given an appointment the following day. The office staff set up my MRI and x-ray for that same day. The staff is extremely nice and very efficient. Dr Goodwin set me up for emergency surgery for my lower back, it went very well I feel like a new person. My entire experience including the Hospital for Special Surgery was wonderful.

Loved his confidence and follow through. C2 - C7 fused vertebrae and recovery is great. HSS as a hospital and Dr Charles Goodwin as the surgeon is a fantastic combination.

Dr. Goodwin was the only orthopedic specialist (I consulted three) who correctly identified the problem I faced (my situation was complicated by three separate neurological and anatomical issues) and to make a recommendation for treatment that made sense. I checked his recommendation with two other specialists who both concurred that his assessment was correct. I can't stress enough how diligent and quick he was in making the effort to get to the bottom of the situation.

My experience with Dr. Goodwin was exceptional for spinal surgery. My quality of life was restored with the surgery. I was confident with his expertise, care and communication throughout. I have since recommended him to others and will continue to do so. Nancy

I have high praise for Dr Goodwin and Terry at the from desk. I had a herniated disc that was pressing on a nerve which was very painful. Dr. Goodwin was kind and thoughtful and took the time to answer all my questions and explain why I needed surgery (micro-discectomy) He did not pressure me but made sure I understood his thinking. He saw me in the hospital before surgery and was reassuring. When I woke up my pain was gone and I was able to go home within 24 hours. My care at HSS was suburb

Dr. Goodwin restored full function to my upper body through a spinal fusion operation. He is an amazing surgeon and physician!! He was able to properly diagnose and treat the problem where others had failed. As his patient you know that he cares about you having the most successful outcome possible.

Dr. Goodwin has been my orthopedist for nearly 20 years. You could not find a better doctor. In addition to being a remarkably skillful surgeon, he is personable and patient, and he goes out of his way to accommodate his patients' schedules. He understands the importance that physical conditioning plays in a person's life, and he patiently evaluates what you need to do to get back in your game, whatever that may be. This is someone who became a doctor for all the right reasons.

Doctor Goodwin is a fabulous doctor and has a wonderful bedside manner. It is often hard to find both. If you need surgery, he is your man. I am extremly grateful to have found him! Thanks Doc for helping me get my life back!!
