The Office staff are amazing and I love Dr Chilappa.

Always a good experience from the receptionist to labs. Everyone was really nice.

Dr Chilappa is a very caring and understanding physician. I appreciate how he takes the time to throughly address your issues and research solutions.

They are great! Vert professional as well as prompt.

Dr Chandra Chilappa has very little knowledge about Hypermobile Joint Disorders & Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - Hypermobile type (hEDS)- so he is not a connective tissue disorder expert as his profile states. My first indicator of his inexperience (or is it biases and opinions?) was when he told us there is a genetic test for the hypermobile-type of EDS. Unless he has access to some brand new genetic test that no one else knows about, then no. The DNA marker has not been discovered yet, so there is no DNA test to detect hEDS. The Beighton Hypermobilty Scoring System and the Brighton Criteria are used to dianose hEDS - and this Dr Chilappa stated that my daughter's diagnosis by a geneticist at Childrens Mercy using those diagnostic tools is inaccurate - even though she met more criteria than is required for diagnosis. He knows about Fibromyalgia, though - so if you want to waste your time and get gaslit some more by so-called "specialists" -then by all means, go see Dr Chandra Chilappa!

This provider didn’t listen to anything I said, was more interested in speaking to and teaching the three residents with him. Would never recommend. He spoke over me and didn’t explain anything. If I could give zero stars I would.

He is absolutely the worst Doctor I've ever seen. He never listened to me or my concerns. He gave me incorrect diagnosis without the proper tests. Over medicated me the entire time I was seeing him. Whenever I would have a concern he just continued to prescribe more medications. No one needs to see this man. He is insulting towards his patients. I've been twice because he was the only one who could get me in the office at a reasonable time, but both experiences were terrible. The first time I went by myself and his intern looked me over first. She was very nice and listened well, but when he came back in I was told I was too young to be having any problems and discouraged from seeking out any more testing or solutions. When I couldn't find another rheumatologist, I went back for a second appointment with more tests to prove a problem and my roommate to back me up. He denied ever telling me not to get testing, told me I was still too young for a diagnosis but atleast admitted there might be a problem, and still said the previous tests I'd gotten before seeing him were all false positives. I will not be going back, I'll take the long wait times over that again

Dr. Chilappa is a wonderful doctor that truly listens to his patients. He is professional and goes the extra mile. Highly recommended.

This was a horrible experience. He left me feeling shamed and that I need to "try harder" in my life. Completely dismissive and he adjust himself during my entire appointment. Very disturbing.

I was sent to this specialist through my Dr and he finally came into the room his first question was “why are you”. The kind nurses upfront assured me he received my medical information but he choose not to review or even look at it. I don't like waiting when I have an appointment scheduled and that's my experience at every visit. I especially don't want a doctor that I can't be honest with or one that is going to argue with me about how I feel about certain medications or treatments. Educate me and continue to do so, until I'm ready to move forward with your suggestion and if I am still reluctant, there are certainly, other options. I am also knowledgeable enough to know if I want to wait to receive a vaccine. I'm really disturbed about this interaction. I have seen Dr. Chilappa for several years. He diagnosed me, and continues to treat my rheumatoid arthritis. My experience with him has been the opposite of the reviews I read here. I feel he is extremely knowledgeable, kind, empathetic, and he has always taken the time to listen to my concerns, and explain treatments, etc. to me. With respect to the office, his medical assistant, the front desk, lab, etc. have always been extremely kind and efficient and I have rarely had to wait more than just a few minutes. I highly recommend Dr. Chilappa, as well as the entire practice. I have seen Dr. Chilappa for several years. He diagnosed me, and continues to treat my rheumatoid arthritis. I’m in search of a new doctor today, I agree about feeling rushed and he talks over you. He doesn’t understand that hard working people can’t take off every 6 weeks when nothing has changed. I understand I have good insurance but it seems like he wants to keep seeing me to make it worth his time. I’M DONE!!!

Doesn't know what he is doing. Misses diagnoses, doesn't know how to prescribe pain meds., refuses to learn about things he doesn't know about like rare rheum diseases. Patient shouldn't know more than him! Has made numerous incorrect statements to me. Doesn't listen to patient. Treats patients poorly. Acts like I am lying to him. Wouldn't be surprised to see that his note about a visit doesn't come close to what patient brought up. Leaves his practice uncovered while on vacations (2+ weeks) and on weekends. Patients are on their own to figure out what to do. Should really have his license taken away--malpractice and patient abandonment. Doesn't know what he is doing. Terrible experience. Waited over an hour for this doctor in the waiting room. Once I got called waited another 30 minutes or more. Once I saw him he was very rushed, took a call sent messages, and adjusted himself while making notes. I was looking for answers and he blew me off by saying you’re too young to be here. I am a patient of Dr. Chilappa he is a very kind and straight to the point rheumatologist, he gives his advice and take time with you in his office he will answer your questions that you can understand the medical terminology. The staff is very kind from the front desk to medical assistant.

Worse doctor I have ever seen. Didn't even examine me. His intern did more than he did. His intern was concerned that I have rhuematoid arthritis or sjorgens disease. Said there were some concerns. Dr. Chilappa came in said I am fine dont have anything wrong with me and sent me on my way. I will NEVER see him again. His intern seemed to know more than he did

First time visit for me. I thought that the personnel were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Dr. W (I will call him that because I don’t remember his last name) was very thorough. I found out I had osteoporosis which my PCP never advised me of. Dr. Chilappa changed a few medications and advised me to come back as needed. My experience was pleasant.

I have been a patient of Dr. C. Chilappa about a year ago I was in bad shape, every bone in my body ache and hurt so bad, I thought I was going to die. Then it was time for my appointment with this Dr. He first and foremost greeted me with caring in his voice, now at this point I still was nervous he then asked me the health question regarding why I am there (I did) after listening to me, he stated what he needed me to do going forward ( e.g. X-rays, blood work, etc).Dr. C talk to me told me what he thought was wrong and what the plans were to get me better. When I tell you I wanted instant recovery, and this is when I knew that he cares for us as patients he genuinely wants us to be healthy he so respectful, he will be the first to do what's best for you if he CAN. I know from my hearts of hearts he, not just a Dr, he is a MAN PERSON as well if it wasn't for him and taken blood work extra, I have other issues and now seeing those Drs for treatment. New patient give him a CHANCE.

When I broight up concerns he barely listened or responded instead tried to move on to wrapping up the conversation. Even another worker in the hospital said the doctor doesn't listen and they will not see the doctor for the same reasons I listed.

I wish I could give less than 1-star. I was referred to Dr. Chilappa by my physician to investigate possible arthritis pain in my hands. He ordered over $10,000.00 worth of x-rays, most of which were for body parts where I had absolutely no pain or symptoms. He made no explanation of the cost, nor offered me any alternatives. I did not even get the results of any of my tests or any notice. I am filing complaints with every consumer protection agency we can find. Avoid him or you risk getting scammed!

Very kind and thorough

I've been a patient of Dr. Chilappa for many years. He's a very kind and compassionate doctor that cares about my well-being as his patient. He takes time out to listen to my concerns and when I'm not feeling well, he always offer up solutions that will help me to get to feeling better. I'm thankful to be under the care of Dr. Chilappa.

I received steroid shots in both knees. I previously have seen Dr.Chilapa for treatment of pseudo-gout and knee pain. I consider him to be highly competent.

I have sent several friends to Dr Chipappa and they have all thought he was great. He takes the time to explain your treatment options to find what best works for you.

I saw Dr. Chilappa for arthritis/tendinitis in my wrist and hand. It was very painful. He really listened to me--spent quality time with me--and we agreed to start with the least intrusive approach to fixing it. My hand feels much better now. I trust Dr. Chilappa's judgement and would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Chilappa diagnosed my illness when no one else seemed to know what I was suffering from. He saved my life. I have gone from hardly being able to move to a normal life. He is wonderful.

30 minute wait time before being called to the treatment room in another 30 minutes before advancing by the doctor very thorough. Accompanied by 3

Dr. Chilappa is very informed and knowledgeable about rheumatic disorders. He communicates very easy and is open to listening to the patient. Having a physician who allows me to talk and share my concerns is extremely important. Keep up the good work!

Dr Chilappa took plenty of time with me. He asked questions & answered all my questions. When I felt overwhelmed, he slowed down & explained everything until I could understand. He is very knowledgeable & well versed in helping me without medications. He did not shun me or refuse to help me because I want to be meds free as other doctors have. The only negative is waiting so long to see him as a new patient. I had a 6 month waiting period.

Dr. Chilappa is very kind, caring, and a professional doctor. In my opinion, he gave me the most thorough examination I have had in years. He is indeed a brilliant doctor. He spends plenty of time with his patients and gives them the care they deserve. I would recommend him highly!

I have received the best care from this practice. I consider myself a high needs patient at times and they’ve taken the time to fully address any issues I have. It was pretty frightening to me to have a major illness. But they’ve taken the fear out of this. They are gentle with any procedure that is done. They want you to be as comfortable as possible. Every issue is always addressed. I finally have freedom in my illness and don’t feel like it is controlling me.

Dr. Chilappa is a wonderful person and great doctor. Always attentive and concerned to know how I am doing and how I have been feeling since my last visit. Always takes the time to listen attentively to what I have to say. So very glad to have him as my rheumatologist. Sharon D.

He helped me walk again without pain in about 6 hours. I waited 5 months to see him, and he was worth every minute. He listed to me and all my symptoms. I got a thorough exam of my joints by him. He checked me for things the last rheumatologist did not even consider. (That other guy was over an hour late and spent 10 minutes with me and would not listen.) He was friendly and knowledgeable.

Dr. Chilapa is simply the best Rheumatologist! He saw me without an appointment during an urgent situation and gave me relief for my pain. Bedside manner professional yet very caring. I recommend him hands down!

I really like Dr. Chilappa, he know what he doing, I am impressed. Waiting not long at all to see him. He is solving my problem without risk by doing labs every time I come. In April of 2017 I was in the most agonizing pain of my life wrists, ankles, feet swollen . I went to see my family doctor and she had x-rays done on my wrists since I had fallen nothing broken. This went on for 7 months of pain, finally she had blood work done, sent me to Dr. Chilappa and I tested positive for RA. Dr. Chilappa started me on meds, I can actually tolerate the pain now. Dr. Chilappa takes time to explain things and is very personable but professional. Thank you Dr. Chilappa.

Dr. Chilappa is a very good listener and explains all options of treatment and their success rate. I appreciate his honesty, and that he takes into consideration my opinions or doubts. I have never felt rushed by him as some have stated. His staff has always gotten back to me quickly when I have a question, and scheduling has never been a problem.

Dr. Chilappa has been my rheumatologist for several years. I have psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and fibromyalgia. He has always listened to what I want as far as treatment and has always provided good advice and treatment. I would recommend Dr. Chilappa to anyone looking for a rheumatologist.

The members of staff I spoke to while trying to schedule an appointment were both unspeakably rude. "Rusty" was short and is prone to huffing and sighing when you ask a question. I kept the appointment, however, as I was in dire need of a rheumatologist's help. Having been fooled by the high remarks on HealthGrades about Dr. Chilappa, I believed he was going to have a great bedside manner and pay attention. He does neither. He is dismissive, rushed and speaks over you. Makes you feel like dirt.

He wanted to order painful unnecessary tests to confirm my documented history of pain and neuropathy.He denied my symptoms were common to my disease when it is well documented that they are. He was a jerk. Very rude. He contradicted himself, his fellow doctoral associates, and me at every turn in conversation. It was a most distressing experience. I had seen him one time several years before and did not remember exactly why I did not return. Now I remember!

Dr. Chilappa is one of the most knowledgeable rheumatologists I've ever worked with and I've worked with several. He takes the time to listen and provides compassionate options along with educating on the treatment and medications (if needed). I drive 3 1/2 hours to see him because he's just THAT good! He's professional but personable, polite, office staff he has are very efficient and nice. There's really nothing I can say that's negative. My experiences there have always been great!
