Pathologist billed $447 for analyzing fluid from a cyst, when the standard charge is in the $150 range. Because she is not contracted with insurance she says she is entitled to charge whatever she wants. Predatory billing tactics!

She's a scam. Took my blood at USC and charged me from her own business, which my USC HMO insurance did not pay for as it was out of network. Basically, she took my in-network service and charged out-of-network. Things like this taint USC's reputation.

Pathologist charges for "professional services" outside of standard laboratory fees. Because she is outside of our healthcare network, insurance is denying claim. We brought our complaint to her office manager as we've never gotten bills anywhere near as large as hers for basic blood draws, urinalysis, etc. Her response? 'We're allowed to do this otherwise we'd have been shut down.' Completely opportunistic and unethical. Avoid at all costs. There's a Lab Corps right across the street.

Services from this physician were not requested by this patient nor the primary care physician. It is unethical to bill for unnecessary and undocumented services. Because pathology services were unnecessary for a routine blood draw, my health insurance company correctly denied the claim. Dr Ahluwalia is now attempting to get payment from this patient even though there is NO documentation in the medical record that services were even provided. Patients at Verdugo Hills Hospital beware!!
