Dr. Celia Webb Blackburn

Had a few issues with delivery. She was very good about checking in with mood postpartum. She was very caring when I went to her after a miscarriage. The communication back and forth during my miscarriage was awful. They had me go in to get my blood drawn to check for a miscarriage, while I was in the full blown middle of one. Then my appointment that I had a couple days later because I had a miscarriage and they didn't think I needed my appointment anymore. When I started to cry at the desk they squeezed me in. The office staff is nice but over a decade of seeing her and another doctor in the office, we had so many places where communication was dropped. Delivery went well overall for my baby she delivered in 2009. I got pitocin to speed things up, without realizing I had a choice, but that is pretty typical as a first time mom. Within the first few minutes after my baby was born Dr Blackburn started pulling on the cord to extract my placenta. I remember her bracing her foot against my bed to pull. It broke and she then had to glove up and go searching for placenta pieces elbow deep. No antibiotics or increased risk for infection mentioned. A week after delivery I got excruciating pain in my abdomen. I also had lots of swelling and pus. I called the office and they said I should be fine and to let them know if anything changed. It got so intense I finally went into the ER. They gave me iv antibiotics for a uterine infection. At my follow up, I mentioned to the doctor that I went to the ER because the office had said I didn't need to come in. She said that the pain being worse meant I should have called and left it at that. With it being my fault that I didn't get further care. When my baby was 2 months she told me very firmly that it was time that my baby needed to be out of my room and not in a bassinet in my room. As a first time mom, I believed her. Now I know that she was fine, and even healthier in my room at that age. I did like the handouts and education she would give throughout pregnancy and as my baby was growing. My HG wasn't really caught and treated in pregnancy. However, some of that was my fault and lack of advocating for myself. She did refer me to urgent care for fluids one time. She is a nice, kind person. She is a good doctor. She helped me in many ways. Her being so forthcoming about postpartum depression and diligent about checking in on that may have saved my life. It has helped alter my perspective on it and realize how common it is. She had very gentle exams. She is a fabulous doctor for those that speak up. She shouldn't have pulled my placenta so rough, so early, and sometimes there can be miscommunication through the office. Had a few issues with delivery. I have been going to Dr. Blackburn for over 10 years. I love her. She makes me feel like I am the most important person she has to treat. She takes the time to explain everything and discusses other options. I am comfortable discussing anything with her. She does have to enter everything onto the computer but she also gives me a written copy to remind me of the things I need to do before our next visit. I would recommend her to all my friends and family.

I saw Dr. Blackburn several years ago with the pregnancy of my first child. I felt I was just another number to her and unfortunately had a negative birth experience with her as well. Wouldn’t recommend.

I take my whole family to Dr. Blackburn and also see her through all of my pregnancies. She is awesome! She definitely knows her stuff.

Dr. Blackburn had been my family practitioner and pediatrician for the last 6 years, and she delivered both my babies. She is passionate about her work and cares about her patients. She was incredibly respectful of my choices regarding childbirth. I enjoy having her as my doctor and highly recommend her!

I'm surprised to see some of the negative reviews. I have been seeing Dr. Blackburn for over 10 years now and have always had a good experience. She has always listened thoroughly and explored potential solutions with me for a variety of issues over the years. I wouldn't go to anyone else, unless I move too far away :)

Dr. Celia Blackburn still remains my favorite physician even after 16 years. She delivered two of my children. I felt safe and well cared for in a very difficult time. She is empathetic and professional. She goes above and beyond. I highly recommend Dr. Celia Blackburn

Missed diagnosed me I had something that looked nothing that she diagnosed me with and she told me so little about my diagnosed that I had. Scared me half to death. But luckily I didnt have nothing at all. What pissed me off is that she didn’t give me that much information and she seemed like she was rushing my visit. I had to go to a different doctor and they helped me out a lot more. I struggle to write negative reviews, but wish I had been warned away from Dr. Blackburn. She was condesending, hurtful and couldn't be bothered to look away from her computer screen and actually have a conversation. I had a couple of tests done, when I called to ask about the results she couldn't be bothered to give me the results. I ended up needing surgery and asked her for information about a surgeon and she was less than helpful. I would not recommend her to anyone I liked.

Dr. Blackburn was by far the worst. After waiting two and a half hours, she was condescending, no help, treated me like a drug addict, was unable to answer any questions, didn't listen, barely looked away from the computer, and was unable to refer a physical therapist. I left extremely frustrated and would never recommend her. If you are looking for a new Doctor, I would suggest to keep looking.

I've been a patient of Dr. Blackburn's for several years. I started seeing her after having a number of bad experiences with other doctors. Dr. Blackburn is a very competent and professional physician who I have always trusted and felt comfortable with. She is not exactly the most "warm and fuzzy" type of person, but I don't need that in a doctor - I need knowledge and competence. I have a tendency to google everything and come into the doctor's office with my head full of every possible thing that could be wrong - and she always disperses those thoughts by being very straightforward and letting me know what the problem actually is. She's seen me through a number of health issues and she's been right every time, and has helped me immensely. She even delivered my baby. I go pretty far out of my way to see Dr. Blackburn, and will continue to do so. I highly recommend her! I've been a patient of Dr. Blackburn's for several years.
