Dr. Cathleen Shantz Mills

Dr. Mills is a great doctor. She made me feel so comfortable. This practice really supports you as any patient needs.

Dr. Mills is sweet, kind and has great bedside manor. She delivered my second child via C -Section and made me feel comfortable in the OR. She was hands on and kept me feeling safe the entire time. She is easy to talk to and I would recommend this practice. I live in Winchester and left my local practice to go to CWC.

Overall, my experience with Dr. Mills was very positive. I especially think Dr. Mills did a fantastic job during the labor and delivery process given the different complications that arose. During the in office visits, she explained everything in a clear, simple, and matter of fact way which I really appreciated. She also spent extra time thoroughly answering the questions I had about the outcome of my delivery and questions about appropriate post partum activity to engage in. I would recommend her to both friends and family. I also enjoyed my experience at this practice and getting to know each of the other doctors. The three other doctors, as well as the staff, were professional and welcoming. The prenatal appointments were short and sweet, but still left enough time for questions that I had. Overall, my experience with Dr. Mills was very positive. I especially think Dr. Mills did a fantastic job during the labor and delivery process given the different complications that arose. During the in office visits, she explained everything in a clear, simple, and matter of fact way which I really appreciated. I had a bunch of issues that I would think she would have me run blood tests & she would ALWAYS tell me to see a shrink?! Like really? Talk about Gaslighting a patient. She also sent me to a "specialist" to see if I could have kids & the lady she sent me to was so rude & yelled at me to get off of the table when in fact she left the speculum INSIDE of me! I never went back to her after that. I would def find someone else.

Dr. Mills is very polite, listens to your concerns and answers your questions. However I was supposed to be scheduled for a surgery which the Leesburg office forgot to do for 3 weeks. Only after I called was it scheduled. Once the surgery was scheduled I was supposed to have a prescription sent to Costco which the Leesburg office forgot to do. Again I had to call to make this happen. The office is very hard to get a hold of. Almost every time I call I am placed in call waiting either to get disconnected or to leave a message. Very pleasant ambiance! The office is very clean and the staff is very friendly. The Doctor and her Nurse took their time and answered all of my questions. Great first visit.

My experience at Capital Womens Care has been nothing but amazing. My OBGYN is Dr Mills. She has been the most caring, understanding and informative Dr I could ever ask for. She alway hears my concerns and provided answers to ALL my questions. She delivered my first pregnancy, I hope she will do the same for the rest.

Dr. Mills is an amazing doctor! She takes the time to talk to her patients. She has sat down with me at every appointment made sure she answered all my questions (I had many), that I understood what was happening and next steps. She was always up to date on my case. I have recommended her to many people!

This is more about the office practices. If you are going to have a completely normal with nothing out of the ordinary, which I don't believe one can know until it is too late, then it might be ok to go here. They do not care about how stressed you are nor whether you have the information that you need to make extremely, and I mean extremely important decisions moving forward with trying to have a baby. You could actually take the wrong medicine at the wrong time and they don't help you along. A nightmare to say the least! Without being forceful my daughter very likely would have had an infection that could have affected her future in having children. Was just lucky we pushed to get a new appointment. They don't answer the phones. They call back when they can get around to it, rather than when it is medically necessary. I DO NOT RECOMMEND for women trying to start a family. The level of stress that they carelessly put us through may have long lasting affects. So sad they don't care.

I like Dr. Mills and have been seeing her for over 10 years for my well woman check ups. I can't say that I am crazy about her staff or office practices anymore. This last time I went in I was herded around like cattle. I wasn't asked to empty my bladder before my exam which is nice to be able to do before a pelvic! Also, when they weighed me I wanted to take off my coat and shoes and the nurse was perturbed by this and actually rolled her eyes. I told her that I wanted an accurate weight since I was concerned about my recent weight gain. It was something I was planning on discussing during my exam. Lastly and most disturbing was a new form I had to sign basically saying if I asked too many questions about health issues my "well woman" visit would be void and I would be charged for a sick visit. Dr. Mills explained that is was just a deterrent for women that came in with an entire year of questions and health concerns and turn it into an hour appointment. I get it but still...

Dr. Mills has great bedside manner and was patient with me while answering all of my questions. She easily puts my concerns to rest. I have had her both in the office for regularly scheduled visits as well as spoken to her while she was the on-call doctor when I had health concerns outside of normal business hours related to my pregnancy. She was great every time and never rushed me.

Dr. Mills is caring and concerned not only about a patient's physical health, but is also interested in other aspects of their lives as well. She works "side by side" with your other doctors- a real team player. Dr. Mills keeps up to date with the latest medical changes and updates. At times, she runs behind but that is not the norm. Babies come, when babies come; she has no control over that. I would highly recommend her to my friends.

She is very professional - Dr. Mills is a compassionate person - her care and concern for you is immediate - she quickly finds out what your health problem is and promptly starts working on getting it resolved - she makes sure you understand what is going on with your body and what needs to be done and steers you in the right direction to solve your health issue - I am happy to be a patient of hers and would recommend her highly to anyone needing an excellent gynecologist
