Dr. Catherine R Zelner

I saw Dr Zelner several years back and really liked her bedside manner. After seeing her the first time I had a follow up and much to my surprise she was no longer at that practice. Fast forward 5 years or so later and I found her and starting seeing her late last summer. Again great bedside manner, but expensive and does not take insurance. After two great visits and adjustments to my hormone meds I had menopause issues and tried for over 20 days to reach her and her office with no luck. I drove to her office to find the building was empty and there was no note even on the door advising where they were or how to get my records! I was shocked of course. Finally after many many calls texts and emails to her she called me and said that she had a family emergency and was moving her practice to Merritt Island. No notice to her patients whatsoever!!! I will never recommend her again. Totally unacceptable. I understood emergencies but put a notice on your phone system or door at least. I’m certain I’m not the only upset patient now having to find a new doctor and start over.

My primary care doctor referred me to this office for help with my thyroid issues and also help finding a good gyno in the Orlando area. After being referred I found out Dr. Zelner does not honor any insurance whatsoever. It is a minimum of $250 for a visit with a $50 deposit. This is ridicuous especially in the midst of a pandemic that is still effecting people and the money we have for health care. I was really hoping to find a great doctor to help me as a woman with a thyroid disorder but this just feels like she's looking to book wealthy patients only who can afford her $200+ copay. This is so beyond disappointing to see in women's healthcare when women deserve doctors who will not only see them and work with their insurance-- but make their pricing accessible so they can get the help they need. Feels like a for profit practice that is not inclusive to those who can't afford. Really disheartened as my doctor gave her great recommendations and I was sincerely looking for help. I have been seeing Dr. Zelner for 14 years. She has helped me through various health challenges using supplements and regular monitoring and balancing of hormones. She is extremely knowledgeable in the field of endocrinology - and important part of women’s health. ----I would not even give them 1 Star. They never answer their phones. They never call back when you leave a message. They closed their office for a month so Dr. could go on a vacation. I had an allergic reaction to something they prescribed me. I left a vm. No one ever called to get me on something else or check to see how I was doing. They do not care about their patients at all----

I have be a patient of Dr zener for many years now and brought my mother who was very afraid of having a painful exam and she was so delighted by how gentle Dr zelner was and cared about and gave advice about her other health issues she was experiencing! Love her!

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I went for my first visit five weeks ago. I had urgent concerns that I was tested for and was told I would have results within two to three weeks. It has been five and I cannot get through to the office. I haven’t called daily and several times per day for the past two weeks. The voicemail box is full and there is no answer. Additionally, they prescribed me birth control without giving me a pregnancy test which I have been told by other doctors they would not do for my safety. I've been seeing Dr. Zelner for at least the past 10 years and I'm sad to say that I'm in the market for a new GYN. It took me almost a month to get in to see jus the PA after leaving at least two voicemail messages and an email. The office hours say they open at 8:00am, my appointment was at 8:40am and I received at least two text messages telling me to be there 15 minutes early. I arrived at 8:25am and the place was completely dark with no lights on and the door locked. The nurse arrived about 8:43am, got me into the room fairly quickly but then I waited another 30 minutes before the PA came in. Very disappointed in the office staff. I’m not going to rate a doctor based upon office and staffing issues that do not relate to direct care but Dr. Zelner has assisted my family with medical issues where others have failed. Her knowledge and understanding is phenomenal if you can grasp the concept that some things are a process. Nothing is fixed overnight or without effort. I used to love this office, but the past two years the service has really declined. The Nurse practitioner was so rushed she didn't even hear me tell her I was pregnant and was surprised when I mentioned it again at the end. I have called for two weeks straight trying to get someone on the phone to just give me my results and they never answer, and they never call back. I am so frustrated, I told her I thought I had a UTI and that I was concerned due to my pregnancy and she went and did the pap smear and said have a good day and I had to ask, what about my UTI? Isn't it dangerous to my pregnancy and she was like OMG what you're pregnant? and then rushed me out anyway no treatment just let me do a urinalysis cause I insisted. I have seen doctor Zelner for 5 years. But lately really complicated to make schedules For yearly check up only on Thursday or Friday. They don’t care if you’re have to work for living or not. The receptionist wants me to schedule 2 months from June which is in august. But still only on Thursday or Friday. I have been going to Dr Zelner for many years. She has been the only doctor to properly diagnose me. Dr Zelner is the best at what she does and my husband recommends his patients to her all the time. Her staff can be difficult to deal with but I did notice that her staff was new to me the last time I had an appointment a few weeks ago so I cannot comment on her staff now. I have been a patient of Dr. Zelner for nearly 20 years. She is brilliant and practices preventative as well as diagnostic healthcare. Was sent to get blood work done to check my hormonal levels, I get a call back from the Orlando Health Department saying my blood work came as a false positive for SYPHILIS! Very concerning since I was not getting tested for STDs & it seems like they want to scam me out of more money. My initial visit i had a co pay of $35 which i payed at the time of visit and then was sent a bill of almost $200 for I don’t know what. I had to call my insurance to fix it.

I had a biopsy in March 2020 and till today I don’t have the result neither a call

It was a pleasant surprise to find a doctor who gives you more than 3-5 minutes and is not in a hurry to move to the next patient. Dr. Zelner was friendly, listened to me. and explained thoroughly condition and treatment.

Do not waste your time here!!! I ignored all of the bad reviews and went for a wellness check and urinalysis. My appointment was over a month ago and I cannot get anyone on the phone. I have called, left voicemails, and still no information on my pap results or urinalysis. Horrible practice!!!

I wouldn’t waste your time here. I initially made an appointment with Dr Zelner. However, when I arrived for the appointment the staff told me my appointment would be with a nurse practitioner. Which was a bit of an issue for me because there was an issue I am having that I wanted to speak with an actual doctor about. I went ahead with my appointment. She took swabs and sent for testing. I went to the follow up appointment. As I was making the follow-up appointment I stated to the staff I wanted to schedule the appointment with the actual doctor. They said her next availability was like a month away so in sense I didnt want to wait that long I scheduled the follow-up with a nurse practitioner. At the follow-up appointment I was read my results. She ordered for some blood work. I got the blood work done. That was a little over a month ago. I still have not received those results because Dr Zelner continues to cancel on me. I’ve made 3 appointments with her in the last 3 weeks. She’s canceled all 3 of them. I had an appointment with her earlier today. Her staff called and said she had an “emergency” and will be out of the office. This was the third “emergency” Dr Zelner had in 3 weeks. The staff gave me no explanation. They said “I don’t know what’s going on with Dr Zelner. She had an emergency and won’t be in today”. I will not be making another appointment with this office. I have asked that they forward my Information along with my results to another doctor. They said they will do that. All I have to do is fill out a release form. Tried for two days to make an appointment at this place and was unsuccessful. Should not be this difficult to make an appointment at a doctors office. Was a returning patient of 3 years, but I will NEVER be back. DO NOT RECOMMEND. If I could give them zero stars I would.

A few days later, I was contacted by the office because "something happened with my specimen at the lab" and I needed to come in again to send in another specimen. They apologized and they were able to quickly squeeze me in so that I could provide the specimen for them. They did not call me back for over 2+ weeks and I did not know what was going on. They require you to schedule another appointment to find out your lab results and I did that. Everything was fine but I did not like that I had to wait that long just to get my results. Months later, I received the MOST EXPENSIVE LAB BILL EVER for a standard checkup. This have never happened to me! I was billed TWICE for providing TWO lab specimens. I immediately called the office and they told me that they were looking into it. No one had followed up with me. I called the billing department and was told that they would take a look into it. It's been over A YEAR NOW and they have not remedied the double billing of my labs. I left countless voicemails and obviously they must feel that I am responsible for paying TWICE when they told me that "something happened to my specimen". The whole staff at this office should be fired starting from the office managers. They are so unprofessional and will lie to you right in your face. I had a billing dispute with these people since December it is now July and every time I’ve went in and told them about it it’s always it will get fixed or I’m promised a call back from Andrew and he never calls back. Got here at 3:30pm wasn't called back until 4:10pm when I was scheduled to meet with the doc at 4:00pm. I’ve been going to Dr Zelner for 5 years now and I have never had a bad experience.

Dr. Zelner is a doctor who has an integrative side that she adds into her conservative practice. She talks about nutrition and supplementations along with medicine. She is amazing.

I love love love Dr. Zelner and I hate seeing all these negative reviews. That said, I feel like dealing with (some of) her staff requires a lesson in patience and self follow-through. Keep that in mind if you decide to visit her office—the doctor is great, kind and soft-spoken and generous with her time (compared to other dr’s). This sometimes causes her to be delayed with other patients... but if you have one of those appts that requires extra time, you will appreciate Dr. Z’s bedside manner. I have referred at least 5 friends or family members to her because I feel like she is a great doctor who truly cares about her patients. I appreciate the fact that she is natural minded and wants to get to the root of the problem. She doesn’t just write a prescription and say we’ll see you again in a few months. Everything that she has ever recommended to me (supplement-wise... which is all I needed for my ailments) has worked. As long as I followed her instructions, the supplements have worked for me (not just supplements that she sells it of her office; she doesn’t care where you buy it from—although Xymogen is a quality physician brand and you can’t (or shouldn’t) buy that brand online/Amazon). She treats and manages my thyroid with NDT (ie Armour) after an endocrinologist mis-managed me and I suffered several mc’s. My thyroid was completely out of whack at the time and I was an emotional mess. Dr. Z was referred to me because she was on a list of good thyroid doctors who can manage patients on NDT (which requires more than just writing a script and doing occasional bloodwork). Not all thyroid drs are created equal! She knew exactly what to do to “fix” me, and I now have a healthy 8mo baby which I have Dr. Z to thank for getting my thyroid in an optimal state. Amazing bedside manner and love her holistic philosophy!

Stay away from that place , misdiagnosed my wife and cause major health issues.

Total scam from this office...the eternal wait time...the supplements that are costly and do nothing the constant "let's try this" that leads to more money and zero results. Throw a dart at a Dr's list and take a chance somewhere else...not a good choice

As an office manager, I find it unacceptable and downright inexcusable to make a patient wait 70 minutes for an appointment. It's just a rude advertisement of your office's poor time management and scheduling procedures.

Very disappointed with the service here. Went in for a simple procedure and later was billed $500 from LabCorp (after insurance) for labs I did not know were being ran and would not have consented to as they were unnecessary. After talking to LabCorp I learned some of the lab tests included the other tests that were ordered and ran separately- completely unecessary and I would expect my provider to know what she's ordering so as to not incur additional charges for her patients. Since January I've called and emailed several times to try to speak with someone in the office, have left multiple voicemails and emails with no returns. My healthcare liaison (through my insurance) also tried to contact them to no avail. Again, I'm very disappointed and would expect better from my healthcare providers. Dr. Zellner is very knowledgeable and the special hormone cream she helped me with is amazing. However, the staff response time is terrible , I have never had such poor customer service and lack of follow up. I have have been trying for several days now to get a scrip refill and cannot even get a live person on the phone. Dr Zelner’s office is a complete waste of time. Their front office staff are rude, unorganized and untrained in their job. After a waste of time annual and initial visit with Dr Zelner or someone who might be her (she walked in and never introduced herself) where she never asked me about any sexual history or health issues, I was told I need blood work and a ultrasound. Ok fine. Scheduled. Got two confirmation emails and two phone calls confirming date and time. I get there and the front desk girl Angelica tells me that the ultrasound tech emailed and called me to tell me that they didn’t have enough work for the tech so they cancelled the US. No, you didn’t call me or email me. You are all lying sacs of amniotic fluid (ask your boss what that means since you are all uneducated). She then tells me I have to reschedule, taking ANOTHER day off from work. Who cancels medical care???? It all starts with the absurd amount of time it takes for them to answer your phone call. Once in the office, you wait and wait and wait only to have the doctor rush through your appointment once she finally sees you. I have now requested three times for them to send my medical records to my new doctor, they confirmed to me on the phone it was sent only for the new office to tell they in fact were not. First appointment was great, but went down hill after that. They rescheduled my daughter's appointment several times. And it would get rescheduled for a month later each time. (We were waiting to review blood work for thyroid) 2.5 months later we were able to finally do that. We started on the mediation and supplements and after 3 weeks, my daughter broke out in a rash all over her torso. I called the office 3 times and spoke with someone who would say the Dr would call me back, but she never did. The worst office staff ever! I had my pharmacy fax a prescription refill request form on Monday and Called on Wednesday to check on it, since I still didn’t have my prescription. The slow talking receptionist had no idea where it was and had me call my pharmacy again. Ok no problem. It is now Friday and that women still has no idea what she is doing and can’t find my prescription form. I told her my BC was going to run out on Saturday and she said “well our doctors are only here Monday-Wednesday. And you’ll have to wait.” So if I get pregnant because you guys are all incompetent I can sue, right? What kind of office is this where the doctors are only in office the first 3 days of the week? The doctor and her office staff are extremely disorganized. I would not recommend to anyone. Wait time in the office takes forever and it is almost impossible to reach them on the phone. I was supposed to get a prescription but they never sent it to the pharmacy. I called and talked to someone at the office four times and continued to check with the pharmacy but they told me it still wasn't sent in. Took over two weeks to get my prescription sent to the pharmacy. In March Dr. Zelner gave me a scary diagnosis and then never tested me properly for it. I had terrible anxiety waiting two weeks to find out, and then when she finally called me, she said the results were inconclusive. I was very disappointed and not for a first time by the attitude of all Dr. Zelner'so staff, including her. There is No respect for the patient's time and no respect for the patient's desire. Once again I was deceived to be examined by Dr. Zellner, and I was surprised with her replacement. I explicitly scheduled my appointment with her but no one warned me that she would not be there. The answer was that I had to make a new appointment if I want. Her staff returned from a lunch break 15 minutes after 1pm and my appointment was at 1 pm. No one even said "sorry" but if you are late they will charged you late fee. You will never be able to contact her office via phone and if you leave a voice message nobody will return your call. Dr Zelner’s office is a complete waste of time. Their front office staff are rude, unorganized and untrained in their job. After a waste of time annual and initial visit with Dr Zelner or someone who might be her (she walked in and never introduced herself) where she never asked me about any sexual history or health issues, I was told I need blood and Scheduled. Went for a Pap smear which is covered at 100% by my insurance plan when at my appt they do some type of ecg saying it’s part of the visit now I receive a bill for $180 all along I’m thinking it’s some new thing they are doing at the visit but it’s a total scam to get your money most insurances will not cover this.

Terrible office. I called Monday to schedule an apt and the lady told me she would call to get the referral from my primary. When I called Tuesday, they did not do that and I had to contact my own doctor to get the referral sent over. When the referral was finally sent over, they told me they had no appointments left for the month of December and wanted me to make my appointment 3 weeks in advance after I had waited all week. Her staff is unhelpful and horrible at customer service.

Don't waste your time or money here. She is not knowledgeable in natural or holistic medicine. When she couldn't answer my questions and I knew more than she did on the subject, it's a problem. Her office staff is not very helpful and rude. Looks like they do not care about their patients at all and are there just to collect a paycheck, no one cares about YOU!!! You will wait for hours to be seen. Enough said, don't go.

Very Unprofessional. I tried to get a prescription refilled for 2 months and could never get the nurse to call my pharmacy. No one wants to be responsible or promise anything. Terrible service. I had a positive pregnancy test and went to see doctor Zelner's office because I lost a little blood and was worried I was having a miscarriage. They ordered a blood test to see if I was still pregnant. They said I would get a call in 3-4 days to get the results. When I didn't get any call from them after a week, I called and the receptionist sounded annoyed. I asked her if my results were in. She replied: Ah yes...what do you want to know? I said, well my doctor was supposed to call me to give me my results... She replied: Well... there's nothing to say... your results were negative. You're not pregnant.... After this quite unprofessional phone conversation, I was scheduled an appointment for a pelvic examination in order to make sure everything was fine. I have been coming to Dr. Kathleen Zelner's office for about 10-12 years now. Dr. Zelner herself is an amazing doctor, very much in tune with her patients. She deserves my 5 star rating!!! However, her office staff, office managements and especially her front desk greeters are a disaster. Almost every 2nd appointment I have set up throughout the years, one year in advance, gets cancelled 24 hours ahead, because of "an emergency" - really??? Ok, I take out my calendar and set up a new appointment almost every single time and put up with the organizational disaster in this office. Then, just recently, I go to my once a year appointment that was set up over the phone and confirmed. Once I arrived at the doctor's office, the front desk girl said that my appointment was 1 week later! However, when I confirmed the appointment over the phone, I am very specific, even mentioning that is was "just before Christmas" (not AFTER Christmas). I was upset that the front desk girl did NOT help me whatsoever, to accommodate me that day, quite honestly, I have HAD ENOUGH of getting my appointments pushed around throughout the years, on a very regular basis. Extremely Unprofessional and rude! If you want to experience a place that will treat you like garbage and then blame you for their own incompetence, then this is the place for you. I went in for a simple procedure and even after talking to them on the phone about my referral, was told that it wasn’t “good enough”. How is that even professional to say to a patient and not even bothering to explain what you are talking about. As I asked for an explanation, I was being brushed off with very rude remarks and was told to just sit down and wait. Not sure what the front desk ladies name is, but I can tell you, she will show you an attitude the moment you walk in. Make no attempts to tell them anything you were told by their own staff because they will consistently tell you, “You’re wrong!” or “No one ever said that”. Initially, after resolving my referral situation, I was finally able to get a procedure done. Scheduled a follow-up for my results and was told on the spot, I would NOT need another referral to come back for my follow-up. I came to my appointment and as soon as my name was called, the front desk lady asks, “Where’s your referral?” I immediately told her that she was the exact same person who told me on my last visit I didn’t need a referral! Update: 8-31-16: I went in for my annual, and had the nurse practitioner Chelsie taking care of me. She was very kind and caring. On one of my last appointments also she was the one to see me. Again, she was very helpful and genuinely wanted to answer questions and make me feel at ease. If you see Zelner or Ms. Chelsie you will be taken care of. Just be diligent in getting your results sent online by your labs, so you can have copies so when they call you, you can be prepared and know what you're dealing with. Unfortunately, the offices online portal / fusion is of no help and definitely needs some updating for patient use. Again, the doctor and nurse practitioner is great., just the office staff is lacking that commitment. Previous review: I recommend Dr. Zelner because she is very pleasant and does spend the time to talk to you and explain things. I have been a patient of hers for 8 years now give or take and to be honest her staff has always been all over the place. Sometimes I catch a good employee and try to squeeze as much information out of them at that moment because god only knows who will answer the phone next. But, recently I went in for a possible cancer scare, and when I spoke to an employee I was told something abnormal came back, she went to check with the nurse to see if I truly had to come back or not and they said oh no it's okay your tests were fine. Luckily, I scheduled a different appointment for a different issue and when I arrived was surprised to learn by the doctor that my biopsy did come back abnormal and there was some room for alarm and further action was required. I do not mind paying to come in and discuss in addition to further testing if need be, but the staff needs to get their ducks in a row. In addition, if you go in for any annual or testing you will need to be the one to call them and follow up, not the other way around. Dr. Zelner is a sweet lady, very calming and makes you feel like she will help and take care of the issue at hand at your best interest. This is the main reason I have continued to go to her. I am a new patient and everyone here is amazing.

I have been going there for 4 months now. Yes, sometimes the wait is long. However, she takes her time going over details, she cares and you are not just a number but a human being with health concerns. Waiting times are bad everywhere.

Dr. Zelner is one of the only physicians that will work with hormones through insurance. She is extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant. As a side note, I have been seen by the doctor (even on a Saturday once!) within 20 mins or less.

I can't tell you how thankful I am for Dr. Zelner. I had many problems and have seen numerous doctors in the past year. I was imbalanced, had woman issues and diagnosed with fibromyalgia. It was so debilitating it was hard to see myself living this way in years to come. I've had every test you could imagine performed by top doctors in orlando. Although I felt they served their purpose, dr zelner took a more holistic approach but with a conventional mindfulness. After taking the supplements she suggested, I immediately felt cured!! I visited Dr. Zelner's office as a new patient and had an appointment with the nurse practitioner, Elena. Elena was very knowledgeable and kind as this was my first visit. The office staff was friendly to me. I was greeted by name and all of my questions were answered. I had future follow ups scheduled right after my appointment was finished, and was contacted twice afterwards for a reminder. My first visit I did wait about twenty minutes past my scheduled appointment, but I'm used to waiting at doctor's offices and didn't mind. At my future appointments I was able to be seen earlier than my appointment time, as I had scheduled for early morning as compared to later in the day. I will definitely be making this office my primary ob/gyn, as I felt comfortable with the all-female staff. I love Dr. Zelner. In an age where people are self centered and do not give anyone the time of day my experience in her office has been refreshing. It hasn't been flawless, but this does not take away from her being an excellent MD that truly cares for her patients. I rather wait two hours to see Dr. Zelner than go to another MD. In Doctor Zelner I found someone that ones to find the cause not just treat the symptons.
