Dr. Carol B Sheckter

Left three voicemails and never even got a returned phone call. They need to fire the front desk staff and hire a competent, and responsible staff. There is no excuse for such poor performance.

I was a client of Dr. Carol Sheckter's for only a couple of years. My experience wasn't great, but, I was very disappointed to find out she retired without the courtesy of contacting me to say so. That seems to me to be outright unethical thing to do considering I have refills that need to be signed off on. I guess be careful who you choose to be your doctor! This is the worse Doctor's office that I have ever been to. They are not up to date with common technologies like sending electronic prescriptions to the pharmacy or electronic lab request, electronic medical records (everything is on paper). Outdated medical equipment, office is old and smelly. As well the medical practice is outdated they doesn't know about the latest medication for diabetes, neither the latest medical devices (like continuous glucose monitor). Doctor Sheckter is Ok, is not excellent, not bad just Ok. The medical assistance, front desk, manager and billing people are the worse, they don't do their work well . They always make mistakes for example wrong paper prescriptions they gave me the prescription of other patient. I called them to request a "new" prescription several times (to change medication brand - the one covered by the insurance) I left messages but it was not until 3 days after they return the call, then because they don't have electronic prescription they send by mail the "new" prescription, I received it I opened the envelop and guess what they sent me the same wrong prescription that I already had, after 5 days waiting I was in the starting point - no medication. They didn't charge the co-payment ($30) when I went to the office Jan 2020, and today 6/30/2020 I received a call from the office telling me that I owe them $30, I asked to send me the bill to my new address and the lady from billing refused to do it, instead she wanted me to pay via phone giving to her my credit card via phone, which I refused to do so (I don't know who she is, if she is really from that office), after that she said that my account will be send to collection what a great costumer service (ironically) . So she prefer damage my credit score putting my account in collection sending the paper work to the collection company instead of sending me the bill to my new address (hmm how absurd). Yes I will pay the collection company the 30 dollars but the Doctor Sheckter office will received less money (30 - the charge to pay the collection agency ) foolish decision. Outdated practice for Diabetes treatment, don't know about latest treatment (medication and devices). Medical Assistance, Manager and billing personnel don't do their work correctly, many mistake (i.e. wrong prescription sent via mail, lack of process, refuse to send bill to my new address but prefer to put my account in collection and sent the paperwork to the collection company, ironic isn't it?

The billing is a disaster, they didn't charge me the copay at the visit and the solution was to send my account to collection instead of send me the bill to my new address (how absurd). I will pay the collection company and Doctor's office will receive less, foolish decision.

Dr Sheckter is a great dr.

She is fantastic to communicate with, and helped me alot with better understanding my diabetes.

I started seeing Dr. Sheckter in 1992 soon after my diabetes diagnosis. I had no idea on that first visit what a fortunate relationship I had just entered. Only much later did I really learn how important it was that she knew enough at the time to run the test for the specific type of diabetes that I had. In 26 plus years I have had so many needs for her expert care or referrals to other medical specialties.

Dr. Sheckter is a great primary care doctor. She is concerned about her patients and always willing to spend extra time with them. She is aware of the latest medical research and shares it. For example: the positives and negatives of taking a particular drug or of getting a particular vaccine. If a vaccine is not yet perfected enough, she will say wait. Her concern and care so appreciated. Highly recommend.

In addition to being very knowledgeable, Dr. Sheckter has outstanding interpersonal skills. She always takes time to listen to her patients, and carefully teases out information to make a differential diagnosis. I appreciate Dr. Sheckter's holistic approach to medicine...treating the whole patient.
