This comment goes toward billing.... If you call the office for an eye exam make sure you state that you would like a routine exam. If you mention anything else besides, you will be taken to take other types of tests (in which you are not told that will likely not be covered by your insurance) and receive a massive bill when its all said and done. I contacted their billing manager and explained that it would have been nice to receive a heads up for the extra costs and she said that she would put a recommendation in. I asked if there was anything they can do to lower the costs of this outstanding bill, she said only if you have lost your job. Doctor seemed nice, facility was clean. I didn't want to leave this review but I wasn't happy with this office not going above and beyond to earn a returning patient.

I've been with Dr 30 years. Last visit I had he was not very pleasant just rude. He needs to retire

CEI is very well run. I’m typically seen within 5 minutes of my scheduled appointment, and the entire staff is focused on patient satisfaction. I had a tear in my eye from my contacts and walked in at 4:20 in the afternoon with no appointment and they were very gracious, professional and joyful to see me. They were able to get me right in before they closed and the doctor was beyond smart and delightful. I can’t say enough good things about Clavenna, they are not only the best ophthalmologist’s office I’ve been to, but the best medical provider in general. After spending about an hour calling around to different places because of blurry vision from a possible eye abrasion, I called Clavenna and after describing my symptoms the office staff expressed genuine concern and was able to get me in first thing the following morning! When I arrived everyone was very warm, welcoming and professional. When I met the Dr, he was no different and took great care and time to understand my symptoms. I told him that I didn’t have insurance, and there was absolutely no judgment, he remained understanding and was able to work with me. I've been a patient at Clavenna for only a little over a year but I am always amazed at how quickly I am in and out for my appointments. It's like they are all waiting just for me and if tests are on the schedule, each is done seamlessly with no waiting in between. I really enjoyed my first experience here so much so I had set up my elderly father up for his own appointment with the institute. We payed our co-pays, and went on with our lives. Evidently, our insurance hadn’t covered $11 of my fathers bill after the appointment and myself $60. We were never notified or sent letters. 6 months later, we both received phone calls and a letter saying the money would be sent to collections. I obviously called the front desk immediately and was asking about why I was being charged because I had thought I paid at the office while my services were rendered. The woman on the phone was so rude and unhelpful when I was just trying to pay my bill and resolve the issue. A few weeks later my father calls me and mentions the same thing happening to him, and how the woman on the phone was extremely rude over $11, and was SCOFFING on the phone. I’m not sure what type of business decides to lose 2 customers with copay coverage insurance over $71, when they could make thousands with what insurance gives them. I had called to give Clavenna money and the way the receptionist talked to me was baffling. Surprising from a business in Birmingham and it screams broke. I would highly recommend Clavenna Vision - the staff is very friendly, courteous and always on time. I see Dr Fitzgerald who is an excellent physician - he is thorough and takes plenty of time to answer all questions. I live in Novi so it’s a bit of a drive but definitely worth it!

I've been a patient of Dr. Clavenna for many years and have always received the highest level of professional care and service (from a successful LASIK procedure to routine eye exams). Additionally, his associates and staff are most professional, friendly and accommodating. Recently, I suffered an unusual eye injury which was extremely painful. I was prescribed my first eye glasses at the age of 18 months and have been wearing glasses & contacts ever since. in over 50 years, this is the least professional practice I have ever experienced. Customer service is non-existent.

Amazing care and service.

Dr. Fitzgerald and his staff were amazing to work with. I did my lasik eye surgery with Dr.Fitzgerald. I highly recommend him. He was great to work with. He explained every detail and demonstrated everything that was going to happen the day of the surgery. His staff and himself made me feel so comfortable and safe. I have never been so happy to do this surgery. It’s my second day and I already can see perfect just like I have my contacts or glasses on but better and soooo much clearer. My 5 year old son was flagged by our pediatrician to see an ophthalmologist, and we took him to Dr. Fitzgerald. What an amazing experience! We were greeted warmly by the office staff and did not have to wait long at all to get into an exam room. His tech, Brittany, was very patient and gentle and explained everything she was doing. The optician helped him select some frames he loves and graciously accommodated the whims of my 4 year old daughter as well. Dr. Fitzgerald was fantastic. What could have potentially been an exasperating appointment for a mother and a stressful event for a kid was in all actuality the foundation for a necessary and positive doctor-patient relationship. Dr Clavenna took time to answer all my questions and made sure I was comfortable prior to and during my lasik procedure. Very efficient and a highly skilled doctor. May be a bit pricey but the peace of mind you get is worth it... I wouldn't trust my eyes to anyone else!

Not returning to this institute due to the poor quality of service from the front desk and the lack of consistency from the doctor. The doctor provided me with the wrong prescription of contacts other than what we discussed during the appointment. Due to this, I needed a trail pair of the right prescrption inbetween appointments. The women working the desk charged me $7 to send me a trial pair only to have it arrive in a regular letter envelope with the contacts torn out of it. It is unethical to try to make a small profit off of me and not provide the level of professionalism that was required. 2 weeks ago I had the most amazing experience. My ophthalmologist, Dr. Fitzgerald, of Clavenna Vision Institute, performed laser vision correction on me!! And let me tell you what, it was the most incredible thing I've ever done! I knew about it before going into it, but the experience was amazing. I could IMMEDIATELY see clearer! I had Lazik Surgery about nine months ago and love the results! The staff at Clavenna is friendly and helpful, and Dr. Clavenna is knowledgeable and put my fears to rest about having surgery on my eyes. I highly recommend Clavenna Vision to my clients because I know they are in good hands.
