Failed to diagnose and treat sepsis shock for our young son, age 12 who spoke clearly and told her what was wrong. He died.
My son was wilting and it was clear something was very wrong. After the nurses took all sorts of measurements, Dr. Scribner came in and got him to tell her how he was feeling, going into more detail than he ever provided to us. We were extremely nervous, but she calmly explained that he wasn't getting enough oxygen. She offered different possible hypotheses that she wanted to test to find out more and involved both my son and us in the solution-seeking puzzle. Her calming presence helped us all get through a very rough situation.
