Dr. Bryan Leonard Smith

Dr. Smith is awesome! I would highly recommend him. He took great care of me with my unique situation and I felt very comfortable in his care. His staff was also very caring and helpful. I will be going here for any and all future necessary surgery’s.

Dr Smith operated on me several years ago. He was kind and caring. I have blood clots in my artery and he took care of it. I had surgery July of 21 and he first of all acted like a child throwing his hands in the air because another Dr was taking to much time in the Operating room. Made me come back the next day for the arterial gram. The arterial gram went fine. As far as I know being asleep. It should have been 24 hrs of laying flat on my back. Instead I Laid flat for 36 hrs. When I was wheeled into surgery he came in never said a word and started the procedure. No I was not asleep and I could feel the wire being jammed in my calf. I cried from the pain and asked to be put under and he never said a word.Just kept on jamming it. He never came to see me nor did he answer late night calls from nurses. 7 months later I am still in extreme pain with walking. No one can find out why. He may not be the best at bedside manor but not everyone is a politican. He has the skills where it counts. He did emergency abdominal surgery on me without advanced notice and everything worked out. Good job Doc!

We have Dr Smith and his PA Jessica to thank for my husband’s life... literally. They saved him from starvation by placing a feeding tube after treatment for esophageal cancer. Then they, and their team performed a very complex surgery between the esophagus and the stomach, resulting in removing all of the remaining damaged tissues. There are not enough words to thank them and Venice Regional Bayfront Hospital for all that they have done!

Dr. Smith removed my gallbladder. Was attentive and helpful.

Dr. Smith, Jason and his staff are very professional and thorough. They made sure I understood my upcoming surgery and preparations. Dr.Smith explained all possible scenarios during my procedure leaving no questions unanswered.

Everyone from the staff to the doctor seemed concerned and knowledgeable.

It is always a good experience to visit Dr Smith and the nice people that work with him.

My wife had her cancerous thyroid and associated lymph nodes removed by Dr. Smith. In the process, he nicked the main drainage duct in her neck causing severe suffering, first at home, with a drainage tube in her and again when she went back to the hospital and waited while he performed a second surgery., using a muscle from her neck to close the leak. He also performed hernia surgery on me which I now have to repeat (with another surgeon) because the procedure failed. I would not recommend him.

I can't thank Dr. Smith enough for the care given to my Mom while in Venice Hospital. With so much going on and getting different answers from different people. Dr. Smith made sure we got the answers needed. Spoke to my brother and I whenever needed. Completely understood our position being out of State. His Staff is beyond helpful and compassionate!

I am grateful for life..Dr.Smith is a excellent surgeon, performance on a Friday night,his goal is about saving his patients.Thankyou Dr.Smith.I did have a stay at Venice Hospital and his associate, Dr.Halaby followed up wonderfully. I was up North when it was discovered I had a brain anurism. My mother had died when hers burst. I chocked Even though my friend would have taken care of me, it was strongly suggested I come back to Florida and go to Dr. Smith. I've never been sorry. It seems now I need more surgery for an anurism in my abdomen. I like the hospital Dr. Smith uses and I have the confidence to have him do the surgery to repair an anurism in my abdomen as well as insert a stent to my heart.

I will not be recommending Dr. Smith to anyone I know and I chose not to return for a treatment of any kind. He is vague in his explanations, and as it turned out, by my seeing a more qualified specialist, I was not subjected to being hospitalized and overtreated for a surgery I didn't need. While other doctors generally do not charge for a consultation, Dr. Smith does charge a ridiculous price. His competency seems questionable but that's just the impression I had. Look elsewhere for care.

Dr. Smith is not worth the one star rating. Dr. Smith is very rude and does not care about his patients. I had an appointment with him to discuss a procedure we had talked about doing. He acted like this was a complete waste of his time. I had questions I wanted to talk to him about,he inform me we had already had this discussion and this was not a follow up he was getting paid He walked out of the room in the middle of my asking a question and was off down the hallway to somewhere else. I was very insulted and will never go back or refer anyone to him. Dr. Smith is not worth the one star rating. Dr. Smith is very rude and does not care about his patients. Dr. Smith operated on my rectal area in 2008. When he came to talk with my husband and daughter, my husband smelled alcohol on his breath. His associate, Dr. Holic, tried to correct the hole Dr. Smith punctured in my intestines. Well, nine years later, I am living in hell. I have 24/7 diarrhea. I had to close my business and go on disability in 2008 because of his surgical skills. I have to doctors after doctors. None can help me. I am on pain killers and lots of medication for life.
