Dr Maddern was fantastic and my boys had seamless ear tube and tonsillectomy surgeries.

Let me give you a tip. Tell your receptionist not to get an attitude with parents. ????

I waited 1 hour and 15 minutes past my appointment time with 2 little kids and when the doctor finally arrived he was in a hurry, barely looked at my child, complained he had mucus in his nose and left in 4 minutes after prescribing antibiotics for mucus in nose and steroids for mucus in nose!!!!! So so disappointing, this was truly the worst doctor I ever had. Just moved to Jax from Clt and was recommended from our Ped office here. Went this morning and will not be going back. Horrible bedside manner, super rushed (even though I paid $355 for maybe 15 minutes of his time), made a rude remark to my 2 yo son (when he hit his head on a chair he remarked "that's what you get") to the point I almost got up and left the office. When I told him he was being rude he looked as if he was the one that was going to get up and leave, no humility. He may know his stuff regarding my child's issues but there are plenty of ENTs that do and aren't rude. How is he a pediatric ENT if he doesn't like children. Take your business elsewhere. I took our 2 year old son to see both the audiologist and the Dr Maddern due to reoccurring ear infections as well as a hearing test. Honestly I have no clue why they are in pediatrics because they don’t act as if they even like kids. Both of them were rude and completely non personable. Dr Maddern wanted to take my son’s adenoids out which would require him to be intubated for the procedure (Dr Maddern didn’t tell me this, another ENT did). He didn’t explain why or any of the dynamics of the procedure. Both he and the audiologist were frustrated my two year old wouldn’t sit still (not sure how many 2 years olds with ear infections do). I left and went to TWO other pediatric ENTs. Both said that taking the adenoids out at that age was extreme. Do yourself a huge favor and go some place else where you know the Dr and staff care about your child. When you have a sick kid you want someone who has their best interest at heart & I didn’t get that feeling at ALL with this office. I ended up going to an ENT out at the beach and what a world of a difference. Unfortunately you never want to write a review this terrible but it is necessary. That staff is rude and Dr Maddern scheduled unnecessary surgery for my son. I got a second opinion and the surgery wasn’t necessary and also very dangerous for such a young child. The audiologist seems likes she hates kids and is downright rude to them. It’s hard for a 2 year old to sit still for 20 minutes. Try any other pediatric ent. There is a reason this is the 4th one star review of this doctor and office. The staff is unprofessional and completely rude. Dr Maddern tries to push unnecessary surgery on your child. Please do not go here

Worst ENT. Took my son to him close to a year old with re-occurring ear-infections, Dr. Maddern put in ear tubes (incorrect ones), my son still had the re-occurring ear infections even after the surgery. Went to Dr. Maddern repeatedly each time and each time all he did was prescribe antibiotics, ear drops, etc. and "sent the sample" to be tested. ALL SAMPLES were "lost" and therefore ear infections got so bad that they ended up emitting an odor. Dr. Maddern had the nerve to charge me for wasting my time on each appointment, LOSING SEVERAL samples and ended up taking me to Collections when they KNEW they were at fault. I never even received an apology from the facility about delaying the care given to my child when he needed it and losing important samples. I ended up going to Dr. Roy, got in immediately, he fixed my son's issue within one visit and showed genuine care and concern. My son is now 2 1/2 and hasn't had ANY issues since. That shows right there that this doctor only cares about wasting a concerned parents time and taking their money out of their pockets then fixing the issue. Worst ENT. We were referred here for reoccurring ear infections for our infant son by our pediatrician . When we got to the office it was very nice and clean. The women at the front desk were very friendly as well. However, my appointment was at 2:30pm and our son was not seen until 3:40pm. We waited and waited. I was very close to leaving because my baby was so irritable. When Dr. Maddern came in with his assistant no one apologized for the wait. They were not very friendly at all. The assistant looked as if she didnt want to be there. She barely smiled. He started explaining stuff to me that barely made sense. Unless you want to spend a good chunk of your day in the office, I would suggest you try somewhere else. I came here because of the reviews and the referral, however my experience was completely different. I will be cancelling any and all future appointments and going elsewhere. I do not recommend! We drive from Gainesville to see Dr Maddern for my toddler. We had a bad experience with his dr in Gainesville even after putting tubes in he was still having ear infections. Dr maddern put better tubes in his ears and took his adenoids out which was something I had been pushing for with his previous dr for a year. He’s patient, gentle and amazing with my son! Staff was always friendly! Dr. Maddern was professional but also sweet and interactive with my daughter. He even rearranged his schedule to fit us in for surgery earlier than planned! Highly recommend!

Great Doctor, but not very personable.

I was lucky to meet dr.Maddern for my son's surgery. He was very proactive and helpful. He gets straight to the point on what's going on and what's need to be done to correct it. The surgery was successful and the office stuff was friendly and accommodating

I am an adult and went to see Dr. Maddern because of great experience I had with my Child's tubes and tonsils/adenoids surgery. I had to call and check if he even saw adults. Dr. Maddern is so humane and gives me ample time to answer all my questions. I felt relaxed and his humane touch made my treatment much easier. Our whole family loves Dr. Maddern. We love this doctor and his office staff. My son has had a terrible time with recurring ear infections and throat/breathing issues, and I cannot rave enough how his staff and himself, have helped us through a very difficult time, including surgery.

Dr Maddern is amazing. He was the only one that would help my little girl when no one else would touch her.

Very little wait time in officer. Great with kids. Surgery for ear tubes quick and successful. Uses tubes that allow children to swim without earplugs. 6 months after tubes inserted and no problems.

Dr. Maddern is awesome. He gets right to the point and is all business when it comes to taking care of his patients. We had visited two other ENTs in two other states before we found this guy. He was able to correctly diagnose my daughter's ear problem where all others had failed miserably. We live in a day and age where most Doctors just want to shine a light in your kids ear, look like they're paying some kind of attention, prescribe you some antibiotics, and send you on your way so they can quickly collect their fee. That has been our experience with Doctors since we had our first child 4 years ago. NOT SO with this guy. Dr. Maddern took his time working with our daughter, and he wasn't satisfied until he corrected the real problem. Kudos to you Doc - I am forever grateful for the care and attention you gave my family. Dr. Maddern is awesome.
