I am a retired family physician who made countless referrals to urologists during my 30 year career. Over the years I personally needed the services of urologists. Before moving to the East Bay area, I had seen 7 urologists, some of the best in Virginia's Roanoke Valley. My Walnut Creek cardiologist recommended I establish with Dr. Hopkins, saying that he was the best around for managing difficult cases. Now 2 years into this relationship, I am happy to report that he is by far the best urologist I have ever seen. I have every confidence in his expertise. He is calm and deliberate and takes time to discuss every aspect of his diagnostic considerations and treatment options. I highly recommend him.

I been having depression,Anxiety and seizures and sleeping problems from March 2022 up to about 3months ago, Dr.Hopkins was the first doctor I seen over the course of MONTHS!! That literally has made me feel like I'm slowly but surely getting my life back! I thank God for letting our paths cross because from going doctor to doctor,er to er I felt rushed and like the doctors just rushed to put me on what they thought was best for me instead of actually listening to me like Dr.Hopkins does.he is a good listener and ask questions and talk to me to like he really concer an work on a plan that he wants me to feel comfortable with and works for me and what doesn't. I pray that more doctors would be like him and not rushing or over talking people but really hear their issues and try deeply to make your life feel normal again!!! Dr. Hopkins performed a robotic assist sacrocolpopexy surgery on me 2 months ago. The surgery and recovery went very smooth with very little pain postoperatively. I had all my abnormal symptoms corrected. The outcome of the surgery is better than expected. His office staffs are very professional.

My initial visit with a Nurse Practitioner was a pleasant experience. She was sympathetic, caring and very thorough. My first visit with Dr Hancock was, for me, one of the worst I've experienced! His manner was abrupt & disrespectful and definitely felt hurried. He asked me questions such as: Why did you gain weight? Why did you stop exercising? Why did you wait so long to see a Dr.? Although those questions could be appropriately asked by any Dr., his attitude was one of disgust! This visit was during the Covid Pandemic and there were several totally explainable reasons why anyone would have gained weight, stopped exercising and waited till it was a safe as possible to see a Dr. The only reason my rating has two stars instead of one, is because the Nurse Practitioner and the rest of the office staff were exemplary in their care & attention.

Neglect!!! Neglect!!! Neglect!!! Maybe he used to be good, not anymore. If he was good, he wouldn’t let his patient die from lack of following up on such a serious matter.

I was referred to Dr. Brian Hopkins for Kidney stone at Walnut Creek. 1) I had appointment with him about 3 weeks ago, when I went to his office the nurse visited me and when I asked for Dr., she said he is not in the office. 2) They scheduled an appointment before surgery, when I went to the appointment they kept me waiting for about 1 hour and 20 minutes and the lady in font desk told me Dr. is still busy! So, I left the office. I spent almost a day for blood test and Covid test and Dr. did not visited me. My time wasted and I missed couple of meetings. This is just a feedback to respect patient’s time and consider client’s satisfaction. Upon registration one hour wait. No explanation, only later the Dr. mentioned emergency surgery - would be nice to let the customer know. Procedure was, I think unacceptably uncomfortable and appeared rushed. This was Wednesday. The Dr. did point out his observations during the procedure, this was a plus, possibly the only positive comment I can make. During the consultation the Dr. seemed detached, other things on his mind. After the consultation the Dr simply pointed me to the receptionist “She will have everything you need”. I was simply told we’ll call to schedule the next appointment. No post procedure guidelines or information on what to expect was given. A couple days later as problems developed I called, Saturday only expecting to get an answering service, but the message did say “we check hourly” but it didn’t mention this was only weekdays, and apparently no checking at all on weekends. Sunday morning I was admitted to the ER with an infection, turns out blood infection from

This is just my experience with this doctor, take it as such. Personally, I will not see this doctor again.

A complicated series of surgeries that took great expertise. Knowledgeable, ethical, and very kind. Great outcome, highly recommend.

I posted a previous review after I have waited 2 months to see the Dr just to be told I can't. Well, today Dr. Hopkins learned of what happened, and he didn't like it, so he requested to see me immediately (today) and was apologetic and very empathetic and realized that what happened was wrong and shouldn't have happened. He said he educated his team so this should never happen again. He is a very polite professional doctor, to the point I feel bad I jumped the gun to leave a review attached to his name before him being involved in the situation.

I was about to remove my previous review, but I still say that, I'll never recommend anybody to visit this office because there's no way to contact them, even if you leave a message and phone number, they won't call you back. So I decided to write my comment here to cancell my surgery on March 19, 2019.

My Dad has been going to Dr. Hopkins for a year. He has been very satisfied with the care that he has received. Working with Dr. Hopkins is like dealing with a trusted family member. The staff also provided courteous and professional care constantly. My father does recommend Dr. Hopkins.

Excellent physician. Had some issues with waking up at night. Went to different urologists and liked Brian from the get go. He was polite and knowledgeable. A PA was doing some ultrasound analysis and was kind of in experienced when Brian came in and took over like a pro. Very professional with years of experience. Ok, so I finally did a medical procedure that I researched thoroughly and Brian did an awesome job! I do not wake up in the middle of the night. I repeat I no longer wake up in the middle of the night! I am finally sleeping. My god what a difference. Its an amazing procedure and Brian did everything quick and perfect. I was operated on for maybe 15-20 minutes and now I am a new man. Wow, what can I say? He is fantastic! Excellent physician. Had some issues with waking up at night. Scheduling and other essential administrative activities through Dr. Hopkins staff is an ordeal. They seem dysfunctional at best. A medical practice is only as good as the staff that supports it.

Dr. Hopkins is caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. I highly recommend him to friends and family. You are the best, Dr. Hopkins.

Found tumors ,but forgot to include in his summary and did not do biopsy. Had to go to another urologist for treatment and they indeed ended up doing bladder cancer surgery

I have been seeing Dr Hopkins for about 10 years now. He is very kind, understanding and well informed. He treated my BPH condition with extreme care and expertise. I am very grateful to him.

If there were ten stars, Dr. Hopkins should get ten. He did a cryoablation on my prostate with almost no side effects. I have been having my medical records reviewed at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC, and my physician there said that to come out of cryoablation as a salvage technique with almost no side effects, I had to have had a "magnificent" surgeon. I did. When I went into my surgery at John Muir, the attending nurse said that Dr. Hopkins was considered one of the best if not the best surgeon at the hospital. If there were ten stars, Dr. Hopkins should get ten. He did a cryoablation on my prostate with almost no side effects.
