Dr. Brian L Heffelfinger

I have been a patient of Dr Heffelfinger and Fox Valley Optham for 25 plus years. I recently went in for a yearly eye exam. He looked at my eyes with the bright light and said I have macula degeneration. No explanation of any kind as to type, severity, or what the prognosis is. He was trying to leave the room as I asked some quick questions he did answer such as what should I do now....he said a Mediterranean diet, handed me an amsler grid with no explanation! He said come back in 1 year! Then as I was checking out a lady came over and handed me a sheet of paper and said here is your glasses RX. I didn't even know I was supposed to get glasses! I can't tell you how disappointed and disheartened I was. I realized that his brushing me off said to me he could of cared less about a very serious condition he just told me I had. I immediately called a Retina Specialist and was given a retina screening which showed me exactly what was happening with my eyes. Dr H is a glaucoma specialist and should probably concentrate on that procedure and let retina specialists take the MD patients for better care. Did a great job removing my cataracts

Dr. Heffelfinger is an amazing surgeon who actually listens to a patient's input and acts upon it. He changed my original lens choice between my first and second cataract surgery to give me the best possible result. I highly recommend him to anyone needing such surgery.

Dr. Heffelfinger at Fox Valley Opthalmology is always very pleasant. He isn't pushy with services or medications (dry eye), and offers natural alternatives if you desire. Only reason for minus 1 star is I waited 40 minutes for him after the assistant checked my eyes and put dilating drops in. But, considering the pandemic, not really that bad. He's usually more prompt.

Dr. Heffelfinger is an excellent ophtalmologist. He is concise but thorough in relating to me his evaluation of my vision health. While I am aware that his daily schedule is demanding; he always makes time to respond to my concerns. I highly value every visit withy him.

He may be a good eye doc, but good post op visit practice where patients get their eyes measured, read a chart, then cool their heels in the waiting room for over an hour waiting for a lecture is a crappy experience. Spend the time with your patients. Make believe you care.

When I left Chicago and a practice of 3 generations of eye specialists I asked for a recommendation in my area and without hesitation was referred to Dr. Heffelfinger - that was 15 years ago and I am grateful for his professional care.

Bad experience. I had 6 visits over 6 weeks time for what turned out to be a serious eye issue. He told me i had “weird eyes”. Could not get a proper diagnosis and moved on to another practice where I was diagnosed and treated.

Dr Heffelfinger has performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. I no longer wear glasses which I have worn since 7th grade. I’m now 68 y/o. My husband also sees Dr Heffelfinger and he had an episode of black floaters new onset on a Saturday morning and Dr Heffelfinger meant him in the St. Charles office within an hour. We can not say enough about how we appreciate his care and concern.
