*****BEWARE FRAUD***** I was told by Ashley at Dr. Hanes office that a patient who has not been there for 2 years was billed as a new patient per their office guidelines. HELLO according to the American Medical Association ( who is responsible for publishing the cpt codes your doctor uses to bill your insurance company) a new patient is one who has not received professional services from the physician or another physician of the same specialty who belongs to the same group practice within the past 3 years, not 2. They are potentially billing your insurance company for a cpt code that will result in a higher reimbursement for them and possible higher out of pocket for YOU. This is FRAUD. Ashley stated their office manager does their billing. They DO NOT have a certified coder. This office is billing out non compliant per CPT guidelines and they have no idea what they are talking about. You as the patient have the right to know where you money is going and what your rights are.
