About Dr. Brad Anstadt
Reviews for Dr. Brad Anstadt
This practice is terrible! My first visit Dr. Proctor was hanging around the small area where the young girls were, laughing and carrying on honestly in a manner that was odd. He appeared to be acting like he was their same age. One girl in particular he seemed to be connected to. It just went on for quite some time. Never say anything like it. My first visit with him went well though and the first issue was simply when calling per my pharmacies request since they had relayed that they tried to reach out and did not get a response for the form of pre cataract surgery eye drops that were covered by my insurance. The only difference was they were 3 times a day vs. one but only of course for a few days. No big deal. I had known that they gave a coupon of $10 off for the more expensive out of pocket version however when calling someone named Elayne immediately became upset which was quite shocking, as she in a very rude tone stated more than once that I was given a coupon. She then said that they always respond to pharmacies. I simply called nicely just asking if they could call into the pharmacy the version that is covered and I just mentioned that they asked for me to call as they were the one to know of the cheaper form. I had no idea there even was such. I wasn't even criticizing anything. Elayne then in a rude tone says that they are not once a day. It was then just nicely said yes I know and it really does not matter to me. She then said that she does not even know how much it will save with my insurance. Yet I paid only $1.10., where with the $10 coupon it would have been more like $40. It was not meant to upset Elayne at all. Nothing more was thought about it and in going back as I had a total of 4 appointments within about 60 days, Elayne would seem to stare at me and my family member as we were being called back and she was sitting at her desk. She did not look pleasant while starring at us. It was just noted to be odd but no a huge deal. We honestly were only there for my cataract surgery set up. The next appointment or two went good and the surgery went well for my right eye. On the outpatient surgery unit there was a medical assistant who was extremely impatient with me when I was getting up from the wheelchair and she then was laughing in the hallway about me and was overheard referring in a negative manner to a foreign patient. The same medical assistant seemed to wish to further with making inappropriate comments about my shoes which were expensive New Balance gym shoes as well as making strange comments about the anesthesia used with me. It was all very strange and unlike the nurses and other team members who seemed to be very good. I simply asked the supervisor if it would be possible for me to not experience the same medical assistant because it was not known what would be her upset the next time. She seemed to not like older people or their families. Nothing was even said to her at all the day of my surgery. I then am scheduled for my second surgery 6 weeks after the first one which was already quite a bit of time, but Ok. I then am told by Elayne the week prior to the surgery that she has cancelled the surgery. In speaking to Dr. Proctor minutes after this, he begins rambling not even letting me say anything, that he was getting calls from the surgery unit saying that they can not care for me because I requested a staff change. The supervisor had said it would be fine 30 days prior. So it remained unclear why my surgery not only is being cancelled but the reason made no sense. Let alone finding out the week prior to the surgery already scheduled for 6 weeks after the first one. My vision was left so imbalanced without my glasses no longer helping that I almost fell several times and was experiencing headaches. Only half my surgery(one eye) was done and I was left without notice or even being notified and conversed with appropriately about of all things abrupt surgery cancellation. It had even been confirmed by
My husband and I have been going to Dr. Anstadt for at least 30 years. The office is always filled so doesn't that tell you something? He takes the time to answer questions we have, and the staff has always treated us well. He spotted scarring behind my retina and has kept an eye on it ( no pun intended)! Luckily for me, no change. I would never seek out another opthalmologist as long as Dr. Anstadt is around. We trust him completely, after all they are our eyes. Please don't even think about going to see any doctor in this practice! I "was" a patient for over 10 years, when things were going well and they didn't have to solve any problems other than prescribe contact lenses, spend 5 minutes in the room with me, and collect payment things were great! Then my eye (I can only see out of one eye) had significant problems and needed a professional to diagnose what was happening. Well that certainly didn't come from any of these docs! The 5 minute visits? Oh yeah, that stayed consistent, as did the bills. What didn't happen is my eye doctor practice figuring out just what the cause was for my eye failing me at such a significant speed. They were quick in prescribing $5000 meds that made the situation much worse immediately and when told of such responded by saying Give it time." I was also told that for an additional $8000 they could perform some crazy add on in patient surgical procedure that's not covered by insurance and that "might" help!"In the meantime I couldn't drive any longer and being self employed that cost me thousands by not working for well over a month. In a period of 3 months I was in this office about 6-7 times. You would think that would be a red flag and someone would take time to figure out what the problem was right? Naaaa ... not there! I had social security disability papers in my hands and decided to try another eye care professional out of Northwestern University and low and behold within a week the problem was diagnosed, doctor actually spent an hour and a half in the room with me (not 5 minutes) and I'm happily back at work. The reason I am leaving this review is because my new eye doctor does not sell contact lenses, but gives a written prescription for them, so I just called the vision center at Dr. proctors office to order the lenses and was told that she (sheryl) couldn't get them because they are so new to the market. That's her job! Sell contact lenses! I went online and ordered them ... do you think she could have spend 3 minutes doing the same thing?! Please, oh please, if you care about your eyes and want to find someone else who also does, DON'T go see anyone in this practice! Please note that before this review was written, i reached out to the practice manager and didn't receive a call back after leaving her a voicemail. At least everyone in this practice is consistent in the fact that THEY JUST DON'T CARE!
