Dr. Boris D Ratiner

As a first time patient, Dr. Ratiner spent one hr. with me. He reviewed my medical history and asked appropriate questions and answered all of mine. He made some changes to my medication. He is friendly, personable and extremely knowledgeable. I emphatically recommend him as a Rheumatologist.

Dr. Ratiner ordered 6 iron infusions for my 92-year-old, frail wife after blood tests in 2020 showed that she was low in iron. They were done in his office, but she died after 4th. Frail patients can killed by any medical procedure. She also tested so high in ferritin, a more accurate test for iron, that it is considered toxic. According to medical books, she should have received 4 tests for iron deficiency, but Dr. Ratiner did only 2. They also say that the doctor, before giving iron therapy, should search for the cause of the iron deficiency, but Dr. Ratiner did not. A hematologist, who did bone marrow tests on her, said that she did not have iron deficiency but bone marrow deficiency, thus causing her anemia. Dr. Ratiner told me that, since she was on hospice, Medicare would not pay for the procedure, so I paid upfront. I found out later that he had billed Medicare and been reimbursed by them. When I asked him for a refund of the over payment, he refused.

In 2020, Dr. Ratiner prescribed six iron infusions in his office for my wife after doing a blood test that showed that she had low blood iron. She died after getting four infusions. She was 92 years old and frail, and it is known that frail people can be killed by any medical procedure. The most accurate test for iron deficiency is ferritin, not blood iron, which can be misleading. Medical books say that iron therapy should not be done until the doctor has made a search for the cause of the low blood. Dr. Ratiner made no such search. He also told me that, since she was on hospice, Medicare would not pay for the infusions, so I would have to pay upfront for the six infusions, which I did. I found out later that he had billed Medicare and been paid by them. I then asked him to refund the over payment, but he refused.

The doctors seem to have more respect for the clients than the low toll employees. The fat long haired Hispanic woman sits in front in left chair has a bad attitude and just argues with the client about everything. She also sits there gossiping about the clients and going on a tangent about her promise ring she got. In the back there is another mean unfriendly overweight long black hair Hispanic woman who acts like she is an officer holding you. Why allow your employees to be like this with clients? I would not recommend anyone going to this business, this is what you will encounter before and after seeing the doctor.

Dr Ratiner called my husband late on a Friday afternoon and told him his MRI showed Cancer (when he really didn’t know for sure! ) We had to spend that weekend in shock, notifying family, but having no real answers. We saw the doctor the following Monday and he admitted he didn’t know what the results showed and that more testing was required. The man has absolutely no people skills. We sat in uncomfortable silence while he was on the computer typing for an eternity. He is not capable of compassion or empathy. The worst experience from a medical professional ever! Heads up….if you need a medical form filled out they charge $45/ form non refundable. They will not mail the form for you even if it is accompanied by an addressed postage paid envelope. I will have to drive back to the office, pick up the envelope and drop it in the mailbox outside the building!

Their staff is very friendly and welcoming. Everyone, from the front office staff to the doctors treated me very well. Rheumatology Therapeutics Medical Center is value for money.

Dr. Ratiner is an amazing physical therapist and the reason I'm walking again. I came in with 3 herniated discs, barely walking. Just standing up hurt, and most doctors were suggesting surgery. After a couple of months with Yana, I was back to normal. He took the time to understand my limitations and gave a lot of individualized attention to my needs. There was a good mix of manual manipulation, stretches and pain management to get me back on my feet.

Since beginning of January, I have been struggling with a pain in my left buttock that I have no clue where was coming from.
