Dr. Bonnie Culkin

Wonderful Physician who cares and listens to her patients

Dr Culkin has been my doctor for over 20 years. She is honest, very caring, and is very interested in her patients health. I have been a smoker and a drinker which I felt no judgement when I had these vices. She is a wonderful doctor. I highly recommend her!

Dr. Culkin has been my physician for about 17 years. I find her to be professional yet personable, and thorough.

Dr. Culkin is A wonderful physician who will be honest ,caring, thorough, and punctual. She always takes the time to listen to everything you want her to and looks into any concerns you have. At least one of the providers at this location puts their own personal judgements of the patient ahead the well being of the person. So if you do anything she doesn't approve of, she will refuse treatment. Then when you request a recommendation for a specialist, she doesn't follow through. Look out smokers or drinkers. At least one of the providers at this location puts their own personal judgements of the patient before the well being of the person. So if you do anything she doesn't approve of, she will refuse treatment. Then when you ask for a recommendation for a specialist, she doesn't follow through. Look out smokers or drinkers. She is part of a private practice in Roanoke with some of the best doctors in town. It was simple to get an appointment in a timely manner and I did not wait long at all once arriving for my appointment. The entire staff from start to finish were a pleasure to deal with.

I scheduled a new patient appointment at this location for 09:30AM. Since I was new, I was advised to arrive at the office around 09:00 to fill out the requisite paperwork. Unfortunately, the day of my appointment, I entered the wrong address into my navigation system and ended up at a different office complex. This made it so I arrived at the Salem Family Clinic at ~09:12. Upon entering the building and explaining to the lady at the front desk who I was and what had transpired (even offering apology for being late), I was met with a simple, unkind "You should have been here no later than 09:00." This unpleasant woman then proceeded to call the provider I was scheduled to see and tell them I had arrived late, being sure to tack on 5 minutes to my actual arrival time, and hang up after a brief conversation, which ended with the words "reschedule, mmmmmhm." At this point I was gleefully informed by this wretched crone I would need to reschedule my appointment. I quickly told her to forget about it and walked out. I understand the new patient paperwork needed to be filled out and that the failure to arrive 30 minutes early to my appointment was my fault. However, I'm a fairly young person and common sense would dictate that it doesn't take 30 minutes to fill out a handful of forms and write my health history. I could have been given the forms and had them back to the front desk with more than ample time to spare before 09:30. Sometimes a wretched, unhappy old woman who takes pleasure in ruining days just gets in your way. In conclusion, I'll note that my one star rating is based simply on the customer service I received at the front desk. Obviously I never saw a health care provider. This office may have the best clinicians in the Roanoke Valley. If you decide you'd like to find out, good luck getting past the troll that guards the bridge.
