About Mr. Benjamin R Millar
Reviews for Mr. Benjamin R Millar
Do yourself a favor and avoid this office. You will not be treated with dignity and respect. They were dismissive and rude.
This doctor or his PA sees me for a head injury from a year ago to another a few months ago no more than 5 minutes! No exam or asking about symptoms. This is important. He prescribed me Keppra which has wrecked my life (side effects are horrendous—look them up—severe depression and aggression, ataxia, dizziness, inability to do any work, anhedonia, and especially the constant falls), and forced me off my antidepressant. This week I came in for another checkup. I was ten minutes late. The desk person could not have been more rude or embarrassed me more. I will IMMEDIATELY find a new neurologist. Your outer office smells pretty bad and is at best just plain dingy and dirty. Masks are fine but hire a cleaning crew and decorator, get some new furniture (!!!) and subscribe to quality magazines. It is horribly depressing and boring. I saw no patient younger than 70. The front counter is a sloppy mess. I am moving on.

I was scheduled an appointment back in October the office called me yesterday (Jan3rd) 2 days before my appointment on January 5th and canceled she told me they didn't have anything until APRIL which would be ANOTHER 3 months!!! Christy the receptionist very rude and didn't give a hoot that I was having to reschedule... Her none caring attitude is what made the whole situation HORRIBLE
I’ve seen Dr. Millar as a neurologist for my brain injured son, he has been total care all his life. My son is now 31 y.o.His seizures are controlled as well as possible. We seen Dr Millar for 13 years, I believe, ever since my son was age 18 and aged out of his pedi neurologist. I’ve also seen the Dr. for a few years myself, for my Restless Legs Syndrome. I’ve found Dr. Millar to always be compassionate, willing to listen, and he discusses Plans of Care with me thoroughly, making sure I am well informed enough to make decisions. There have been a lot of decisions throughout the years! Although the Dr. does not rush you off if you need discuss something further, he really tries to be on time, and apologizes profoundly when he is running late, even if only 10 min. He is amazed when I say other Drs routinely keep us waiting at least 1 hour. However, as much as I like the physician, he loses points for the office staff. Scheduling complications are a big issue, us showing up and our appt was not placed into schedule for Dr. Not passing on messages, no people skills, you name in. I am a RN/BSN, and my son has had dozens of MD’s. I have also managed many customer Service related businesses. To get to an app’t. , we have to change sons schedule starting at 5 am to adjust his Gtube food and med’s. The trip involves getting him in his wheelchair, my nurse along to care to needs on trip, bringing a huge go bag, for any emergencies, suction machine, O2 tank, getting the chair in and out of my 28 year old van and W/C lift, me taking the day off work, breathing treatment ASAP after good, formula and medications, pulse oximeter on. So. Each visit is a huge event. Due to having Dr.s of every specialty and Dr.s I’ve worked with, I think I’m a good judge. Dr., at least 4 1/2 stars, office stagg, 1 star just for being a breathing body!
Poor business practices. Dr. Millar punishes his patients that won't see his PA by making them wait 6 months for an appointment! Even though there was a change in condition and a physician was requested by the primary care physician. A formal grievance was filed with my insurance. Find another neurologist, do not go to this doc.
Update - I requested a medication renewal in September that Dr. Millar prescribed . Got a message that it was sent to the doctor for approval . It was never sent and my family doctor was kind enough to prescribe it for me. I have only actually seen him once. My first appointment was virtual and second in person. I was never given a Neurologic exam which based on my history has always been done by previous doctors at each visit. In fact I sat on a chair for a very short appointment. My next follow up is again supposed to be virtual. Trying to talk to anyone is next to impossible. ec Cancelled appointment because they said that they could not verify my supplemental insurance even though I was just there in April and it paid and I called to verify it with the carrier who verified it was fine. Called office back and gave them the phone number of the insurance company to call and I was told they would call them and call me back which they didn't Update - I requested a medication renewal in September that Dr. Millar prescribed . I’ve been calling since October to make an appointment and everytime i call they say that my referral wasn’t send or that they won’t have any appointments until December. First my referral was send three times and second I called three times in November and was told to wait until December then I called again the week before thanksgiving and they told me that I have to wait until February. I don’t understand why the front desk ladies are so rude and always changing their minds and words. It’s as if they forgot that they lied to me, so now they have to come up with an excuse to their old lie and also come up with another new lie. Went to an appointment with Dr. Millar because I have been having double vision for 2 days in a row and instead of listening to my concerns, he just changed my migraine medicine and told me to take this new medication and to see him in 6-7 weeks but didn’t do anything for the double vision which is what I went to see him for.
Dr. Millar has absolutely saved my life along with Heather Doyle. The staff is always efficient, kind and helpful. I've never waited longer than 20 minutes to be seen. Dr. Millar has excellent bedside manners. I'm always anxious going to my physician's but he always has a smile on his face that puts me at ease. His PA, Heather Doyle is so knowledgeable, understanding and is sympathetic. I have 11 different physician's and both Millar and Doyle are at the top. They treat me like a person and do not always rely on textbook for answers. They look at every patient case-by-case and history that goes back almost 9 years. He cancelled my grandma’s appointment because we didn’t get there 15 minutes PRIOR to the scheduled appointment time.
The absolute worst. They cancelled and rescheduled my mother's appointment twice and when we finally got into the office they cancled it again. 3 times!! The third time her appointment was at 11:30 but because we weren't there 15 minutes early they cancled her. They cancled and sent away two other people while we were waiting to be checked in. Are you kidding me.....this place is rediculous. We refused a reschedule, I'll find another doctor for my mom. The absolute worst. As far as Dr Doyle And Dr Millar they are a 20+ but the staff I don't know if it's 1 or 2 or all of them need training on how to treat patients with emergency needs. They show no interest. I have to tried to call numerous times about lab work and yesterday they told my pa they get the results in 2-3 days. He stated I need my meds changed iimediately. I've started to have shakes. the front desk puts my calls on a answering machine. What kind of ppl are this? Professional not even. Dr Millar is great to work with. His staff are not. Which makes it very difficult to recommend this practice.
Office staff needs to go. They absolutely are indifferent and irresponsible and do NOT want to work. I tried to get an appointment...waited a week after my Dr referral...i called to check up on getting the appointment. They assured me, they were behind on referrals but would call me. ANOTHER week later...i call back. As the girl burps in my ear...she says with attitude...we ALREADY called the PCP to let them know the Dr won’t take your diagnosis. I asked what diagnosis as i am wanting to see him to GET a diagnosis. She said for expressive aphasia. I told her my speech was one of MANY issues including numbness/tingling, vision, dizziness, lesions on MRI, along with other issues. She said well the Dr said he won’t see you. Really?! You actually spoke to him and he said no. Certainly she wasn’t willing to listen to or check up on me being treated for the other issues. Absolutely laziness and indifference. According to his website, he absolutely would treat related conditions.
Cancelled my appointment because they could not verify my supplemental insurance. It is the same insurance I had in April and nothing has changed. I called the insurance company and everything was fine. Called them right back and they said they would call them and call me back which they didn't do. Now I can't get an appointment until August and it is virtual because that is all they do. Very upsetting and scary.
Millar is a kind doctor, but the staff is the worst. They're severely disorganized and very hard to get in contact with and to actually see in person. I was there for 9 MONTHS before I even saw the Millar. And you can forget about getting the medication refill you actually need because they're too 'busy' to take 5 minutes and actually HELP a patient. 5 TO 7 BUSINESS DAYS FOR A MEDICATION I TAKE 3 TIMES A DAY EVERYDAY. I called them at the beginning of the week along with the pharmacy and they said they just got the request at the end of the week. The pharmacy even said it was hard to get in contact with their office. I always have extra but this time I lost my little med container along with my debit card... and I'm so so so scared of the withdrawals.. they want me to get a loan from the pharmacy or go to the emergency room. The emergency room is EXPENSIVE and the pharmacy looks at you like your some lowlife druggie. THEY DONT CARE HOW YOU FEEL OR THE TROUBLE THEYVE CAUSED YOU. The sad part is I'm stuck on so many meds i CAN NOT miss and not many doctors do botox or treat of migraines in SA and its so hard to travel out of town all the time. I really think the staff just genuinely don't care about they're patients or their needs. I've seen so many patients disgruntled with the service provided and not being able to see the doctor. Knowing that the doctor can refuse a patient at anytime for whatever reason, is terrifying. Millar is a kind doctor, but the staff is the worst. This was my initial visit with Dr. Millar. He is friendly, he answers questions and explains his answers thoroughly, and he takes whatever time is necessary during a visit. I would recommend him highly to anyone looking for a Neurologist.
I have been trying to speak with someone since 5/27....calling and leaving voicemails EVERYDAY! Today, is 6/2 and still no phone call back from anyone in the office. Very unprofessional and lack of people skills when it comes to returning calls left on voicemail.
I was a potential new patient. I tried repeatedly on a Friday from 2:00 to 2:30 PM to reach someone at their office. I kept getting a recording that said to call during normal business hours (it WAS during their normal business hours), but to hold if it was urgent to reach someone at their answering service. If I could give less than 1 star I would! On numerous occasions, my wife has had to repeatedly call weekly to Dr Millar's office to get a prior authorization written on her migraine medication for our insurance to to fill her prescription. On top of that our pharmacy has called and faxed the request weekly. Apparently Dr Millar is too busy and too important to take 2 minutes to write a prior authorization to get a prescription filled. If you are looking for a neurologist who actually CARES about his patients rather than the money they might bring in, then i would look elsewhere. This has been an absolutely pathetic office to deal with. I'm not normally one to write bad reviews, but in this case, this doctor is deserving of every bad review he has received! Dr. Millar is decent. But when I first met him and told him I was on a certain drug for seizures, he surprised me by his reaction. I wasn’t too keen on his answer for his reasons versus for why the other neurologist had me on it. I also don’t care for the short and fast visits either in person or telehealth.
In my third year under Dr. Millar's care, I continue to admire his clarity and precision in tracking the management of my migraines, and adapting his treatment plan in real time. He is an excellent physician, in full command of the latest treatment options, extremely kind, observant and pragmatic. He is the best.
Horrible.
Bad news, He's not the best dr to see anything nor his PA. He doesn't tell you he seeing you he just deletct your patient portal from his office. I reallly DON'T RECOMMEND HIS office to anybody to see this doctor.

My husband loves Dr. Millar, he’s always patient and listens to all concerns. We have been going to him since 2014.
Unlike many of the reviewers here I found the staff at River City Neurology on Village Dr. to be professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Dr. Millar himself did a very complex test on me which involved electrical shocks and needle sticks. He explained what he was doing every step of the way and was very reassuring and very kind. At the end of the test he let me know the results he was sending to my referring physician. All in all, a most pleasant experience. Keep getting knocked off this review page for some curious reason. Just trying to complete my review. Anyway, I was scheduled to meet Dr Millar after having an MRI. My first meeting with him, he greeted me saying, "I don't know why I'm seeing you. You should've been seen by the nurse." He went on to say he say he was having difficulty seeing "his own" patients. I replied that BAMC (Brooke Army Medical Center) sent me there because they were unable to see me on post. He replied, "That's what they don't understand; I'm too busy too." It's rather difficult to attentively listen to one's MRI results from someone who couldn't care less about your wellbeing and believing you're somehow wasting his time by being there. I stood up and told him he was pompous, and that I would tell BAMC not to outsource more patients there. I think Dr Millar was relieved to hear that. He obviously doesn't need money. And perhaps he is overworked, or maybe he's in the wrong business. The etymology of the name Miller is one who grinds corn for flower, meal, etc. Maybe Dr Millar (MEE-LAR) changed his name to escape his inherent vocation as a Miller. But it takes more than a name change to be a real doctor. It's akin to giving a pig a bath, powdering and perfuming him, and putting a bow on him. It's not going to change the character of a pig... His staff seemed professional and courteous enough. I would say today was an exception, but I saw a couple of reviews, describing a very similar experience. Again, the ones with the happy reviews may be heavily sedated... Everybody is always very friendly, always makes sure I understand everything & answers any & all questions I have before I walk out of his office. Highly reccomend.
I just love Dr Millar and all of his employees. Extremely courteous and professional. A little difficult to get through answering service though. Well worth it when you get to see him. Have definitely referred him to some of my friends.
I first visit Dr. Millar. I was kind of nerves but after he sat down and talked with my husband and I he asked me how could he help . He looked at my chart. He tested the nerves in my right leg because I had a stroke. After he tested my nerves in my leg. Gave me another appointment to come and see him for him to do more tests on my leg. I went back to see him on October 26, 2018 and I had my other tested done and he gave me my results the same day. Dr. Millar is a really nice doctor. I recommend
I have been getting disturbing reports about him and his unfriendly staff from friends and social media. They drag there feet and have no people skills. Please confirm. I must say when I was hopeful about seeing Dr. Millar when I began coming to this office I started off seeing Heather Doyel, APN from that point forward. She never typed a word I said. She just sat there and said mhmm. I'll speak with the doctor and I'll say... Well let's try this or try that and she'd go along with it. I basically took care of myself. I changed the doses and meds myself. They didn't care at all about their patients the first time I had ever been seen, not introduced but seen Dr. Millar, he was upset and came up to the front staff raving about how he goes to the hospital to recruit 11 patients just to have 11 not show up in front of me, whom never been late, cancelled on him or anything . Then to find out that he really wasn't in this business to help me . I wonder how many other patients he's done this too. I wonder if they are deleting bad reviews. I have been a patient of Dr. Millar for several years. The very first appointment, he put me on a migraine preventive medication that my previous neurologist never mentioned to me. It changed my life. Over the last several years, Dr. Millar has tweaked that medication and now I am on the optimum dose at the optimum times so I very seldom have a migraine. I thank God I found him! My husband now sees him for a completely different issue and so does my mother-in-law. I also refer friends!

I went to his office spent under 5 minutes being examined by him and highly recommend getting a copy of your record. You may be shocked at what is in your permanent record. Mine was filled with false information that he did not even check and then had my medications mixed up accused me of trying to milk the system when i have a declining medical condition a year later. I cant believe how many of these drs are doing this after getting copies. Stand up for yourself and dont leave witout a copy.
