Dr. Benjamin Lowell Metzger

Dr. Metzger is a gentleman though I have not met him as a doctor in person yet due to the pandemic. He's kind and is willing to help his patients would recommend him. 5STAR. Lori and Theresa are both amazing, helpful, souls who create a calming effect after dealing with the below 1 star system. On the other hand, A negative 1 star note, the 3rd party call center is terrible. Messages are not routed to the appropriate party. Poor in return calls, poor in handling urgent care issues, such as insurance issues. You have to make multiple calls to his office in order to get anything rectified. By then it's too late with time lapse. Whoever is answering the calls, before rerouting needs a personality check-up. Too many robots in the industries and no one needs them when have to deal with a doctor that you would like to keep in the system. Dr metzger follows up & cares about his patients so glad he’s my internist

A wonderful PCP!! Kind, never in a rush (will answer ALL of your questions), waiting time is never significant, and just a nice man who you will trust!!! Referrals have all been excellent.

I see Dr. Metzger in his capacity as an internist. In my opinion, he is a first class clinician. In addition, his office staff is also first class. In the remainder of this brief exposition, I highlight certain of the reasons for why I believe my opening sentence is accurate. Dr. Metzger is an excellent listener; and an important point being that he doesn't give the impression that he is in some sort of a mad dash to see the next patent. Alternatively, his patience showed me that he cared about what I had to say. He has consistently maintained this approach before, and after follow up visits., He is also a good listener during exams.. The 'Metzger Approach' also showed me that he hadn't decided a priori 'what condition, if any, my condition was in.'.. i.e. he was in no rush to resort to prescription pharmaceuticals. The most telling example of his skill as a clinician was his conclusion that I needn't wait for the results of a stress test prior to taking my secondi dose of Moderna'' vaccine for covid-19. The incompetence is hard to believe. First, they bill my insurance 9 months after the submission deadline. Then, when the insurance company rejects the claim because they're late, they give my information to a collections agency which comes to me asking for three times the amount of the original bill. And when I call the office to straighten this out, I am put on hold for 10 minutes, then the receptionist Teri won't put me through to the doctor, and then when I leave a message, no one gets back to me. Wow. What a week it's been for me. Thank you Dr. Metzger. Thank you Teri, his receptionist. Thank you to his billing people. This doctor actually takes time to listen! You feel like you're having a conversation with him. Open to suggestions about medication adjustment! Good old-fashioned doctoring!

Today I have my first new patient appointment with Dr Metzger, as any new doctor you know you try to find out as much medical history as you can because the medical history serves as the base ‼️‼️???? long story short he gave me my flu shot, And I felt like he paid a lot of attention to my needs and stuff like that. Overall I feel like he is a good doctor and I don't feel like meeting with him was rushed. I also was tested for the antibodies for cov19. Haven't had any symptoms since this global crisis started but it doesn't hurt to check to be sure. I think he's a great doctor. 10/8 had my physical done by doc Metzger vitals taken by his MA Melissa... He was really nice and patient and thorough even with me being a new patient I tried to explain much as my medical background to him as I could.. they persuaded me to get my flu shot I said no at first because of the pandemic I normally get it every year before the end of October but I ended up getting it I told Dr Metzger I wanted him to give it to me LOL... And he didn't hesitate...♥️???????? and I didn't feel bad about it... even decided to get BW done for the COV-19 ANTIBODIES test... thank God no EXPOSURE ????????????????????????????????????... negative... plan to get test again before the year is out... no later than first year of 2021. Over all Dr. Metzger was good.. I'll be back if needed. Excellent care. He made that good impression on me. Definitely thankful for him. Dr. Metzger is a fabulous doctor. He is very knowledgeable and experienced, takes extra time to methodically and accurately diagnose you, is very courteous and friendly, has excellent referrals when needed, and answers emails very promptly. The same happened when I had Bronquitis. I couldn’t see or spoke to him. I always ended going to emergency care. I mentioned him about the non-eggs flu vaccine because of my allergy, and he said that he didn’t know about it and I should request to my oncologist. Dr Metzger is one doctor that I trust with my life. He really understands your needs and has a good connection with his patients.

I have been a patient of Dr. Metzger for several years now. I like his bedside manner, his knowledge and interest in my health complains. He is very respectful to his patients and is never condescending like some other physicians I have seen. Now my son is also his patient.

I have ckd and he told me not to worry about it because I'll be dead before my kidneys give out. Then w/o my knowledge he made an appt with a kidney specialist ( which he is not). Availability is awful - 1 1/2 months for an appt. So if you need a doctor for kidneys...find someone else and as a primary, what good is he if you can't get an appt. Don't bother bringing him your medical records nor tell him what meds you are on because he doesn't listen.

Dr. Metzger is compassionate and trustworthy. I feel lucky he's my doctor.

Dr. Metzger has an easygoing, genial manner. He is very easy to talk to and isn't one of those brash know-it-all doctors. He will listen to you and work with you. He is also good at following up. He's my favorite doctor of any that I've seen in the New York City area, specialist or otherwise.

Dr. Metzger is one of the best doctors that I have seen in NYC. He is professional, kind, knowledgeable and takes the time to answer any questions that you have. He also follows up quickly with emails and phone calls. I'd highly recommend him.

It's rare to find a doctor that genuinely takes the time to sit and listen to your concerns. Dr. Metzger makes you involved in your health, he educates you and provides several options for you and allows you to decide what you feel would be best.
