the staff was amazing with the exception of dr laplante and his fellow who was following him for the day. spent maybe 5 minutes with me, zero bed side manner, felt patronized multiple times. left feeling very frustrated, not listened to, and felt like a waste of my time. After 2 years of not getting help, this was no where near the experience I was looking for.

UPDATE: It appears he’s at the U of R ???? Well he’s finally not at Unity Spine Center anymore. That doctor totally ruined my back!! And Dr Wu not any better!

Saw Dr. Laplante to review my MRI on my 1st appointment. He was great. Explained the MRI in detail in and what he would do going forward. I was scheduled for a shot in my lower back for the following week. I had 2 bulging discs at L4 and 5 and disc leaking at L5, causing pain from spine thru to my lower leg, along with a tingling/numb feeling in leg. On 2nd appt. he again explained in detail what was to transpire regarding shot. It went smoothly and quickly, with no issues at all. Great Doctor and staff, now into 3rd day since shot and all is good. Pain and leg numbness is gone! I highly recommend him.

The plan of action was agreeable and he took time to answer my clarifying questions. I will return in 6 weeks for follow-up. Having a medical background, I am very particular on my doctors and have no time for arrogance or perception of incompetence. Dr. Laplante did NOT have these at all. Based on this visit, I highly recommend him.

Dr. LaPlante was professional, patient and kind and on the first visit we went over why I might be having back pain and stiffness. He didn’t go overboard with ordering a bunch of tests. I would rather rate him lower. Unfortunately I have to rate him 1 .He was very rude. acted like I am not in pain. I am a long time commercial roofer. 57 yrs old. Every one of my lumbar disc has serious issues. He refuses to take me out of work. I am in so much pain. He could care a less. I guess I'm supposed to use the crain to get on and of the roof. My work days are over and he acts like it affects him. The coldest Dr I've ever dealt with. if you are referred to him cancel ASAP. REAL JERK

I think that the bad reviews were about another doctor/office. Staff was helpful and friendly. Dr. Laplant was informative, ordered appropriate test, and talked about probable treatments after test results are in.

I’ve been going to Dr LaPlante for over a year for back pain. He always explains everything and listens to my concerns. He has helped me manage my pain and I feel so much better that I am now back to scuba diving after 8 years.

After 3 cortisone shots in my back from another Dr who said next I needed surgery a friend recommended Dr Laplante. He examined me and said I did not need surgery and previous shot he believed was being put in the wrong location. I'm so thankful he saved me from an unnecessary surgery. I see Dr. Leplante for back pain. He’s wonderful and patient.

I’ve been see Dr Laplante for over a year with several injections and has always been good to me. The staff is excellent. He does the job and sorry if you’re not happy with his bedside manner.

Horrible experience. After he put me in excruciating pain than he yelled at me like it was my fault. Horrific bedside manor stay far away from Dr LaPlante

Went about a leg issue. Primary Doctor said pinched nerves. Dr Laplante says IT band. Even though there were other systems not related to symptoms of a it band injury. Sends me to therapy says to follow up. Saw nurse Yvonne Harrison told her no change. Says next follow up if not better a MRI I return no change. Won’t give MRI sends me on a wild goose chase. 1 year later not any better other than Chiropractor and primary doctor says sciatica. Finally got a mri. Slow in returning phone call to give results. Wants me to come in if seems. Just another excuse to get more money from me. Over $1,000 in copays because I was not diagnosed correctly. Done with this doctor. Went about a leg issue. So very grateful for the skill, expertise and care of Dr. LaPlante and the entire staff at the UNITY SPINE CENTER! I received a selective lumbar nerve block this morning (one of many, in the past, from Dr. LaPlante), to manage the severe pain I experience. The results have always made an improvement to my quality of life. I am so appreciative of Dr. LaPlante's approach from diagnosis to treatment and aftercare, that I have now switched my husband to his practice for treatment of sciatic pain. Horrible no bedside manor Rude and very uncaring horrific doctor!!! Stay far away

I was referred to this Dr and was very disappointed in his performance as a specialist. He had nothing to say to me regarding the chronic pain that I'm in. Made no suggestions and didn't order any test until I asked for them. The hospital has become more of a corporation than a care facility.

Rude. I wish I could give negative stars. Very rude and doesn't listen or care about his patients. Wish I never went to him. His office staff are very friendly and helpful.

Worthless appointment. I was referred to Dr Laplant for evaluation of my cervical spine after a fall. I had already seen my primary dr, an orthopedic dr., and a chiropracter. Xrays showed compression in the discs and I was experiencing pain and dizziness when I walk. Dr. Leplant spent 2 minutes with me, checked my reflexes, and told me "neck injuries don't cause dizziness." He never even looked at my neck, never checked my range of motion. He blew me off and told me to go back to my primary dr. Biggest waste of time and money. I felt completely scammed. Worthless appointment. Dr Laplante has got to be one of the worse doctors I have ever been examined by. He came into my room looking uninterested in my case and just exhausted. I was understanding at first knowing he is a doctor and it's probably just been a long day for him. But once he started constantly interrupting what I was saying and rolling his eyes I was done. He actually at one point stated I was too young to be in so much pain so that to me is him saying I'm lying. When he asked what my hopes we're I said I hoped to regain full funtion of my neck and arm and be able to do things I can't normally do such as carry a gallon of milk and be able to workout how I normally would without having it cause excruciating pain. He had the nerve to respond with " do you think that's realistic"!!! Needless to say I left the office in tears. I did apperciate him directly and urgently reaching out to an injection clinic and telling them to get me in right away. When lidocaine injections in my neck and back did nothing I took matters into my own hands and went to a chiropractor. Within one visit and taking x-rays on site he was able to tell me one of my issues is my first rib is out of place. My next visit he told me I have 7 subluxations in my neck and spine that needed adjusting. Also that my range of motion is severely decreased for someone for my age and with just a couple months with him I'll be back to doing the things I want to do. I can't speak for any other doctors at unity spine center but if you get refered to Dr Laplante...cancel your appt and go somewhere else! I found the doctor very pleasant,he asked questions and did not rush me ,he listened to me,very caring personality, office staff very friendly,good 1st time experience

This doctor takes no time with patients, he rushes you out and doesn’t care about patients well being . Steer clear from this “doctor”

procedures explained clearly . pleasant medical staff and receptionists , waiting room a little dark when entering but adjusted fine. . everyone is on task and helpful.

The building Dr.LaPlante is in is very convenient and easy to use, but the parking lot and the distance a patient has to walk to the bldg. is difficult. The handicapped spots are always full, unless u don't mind parking in handicapped spots around the corner toward the back from the main entrance. It seems that if you've done all the treatments your PC has recommended to stop your back pain and nothing has worked, your PC gives up and sends u here. Over the course of 2 years that i have been seeing Dr. LaPlante, we tried blocking this nerve and that nerve with an office visit between each epidural injection of corticosteroids or whatever it is. I must have been there 15 times or more. And my back kept getting worse. So i was'passed off' again to a neurosurgeon, Dr. REID,who implanted a spinal stimulator in my spine. Bones had to be sawed to implant the wires. I woke up in the recovery room. The doc and rep from company who sells these devices wanted to test and see how it worked, where i was feeling it. I felt it all on one side and not where it was needed. So this neorosurgeon and the rep said they were going to have to go back in there to correct it. Only this time i couldn't be fully put out. I had tell them when i could feel the strands of lead wire hitting me where they should, so they turned off the anesthesia and asked me to answer their questions during the 2nd surgery, NIGHTMARE. As far as Dr. La Plante goes, i don't think he ever smiled. He was very serious and had a stern face and is probably making tons of money on his epidural assembly line. Idk, i have worse back pain now. It began 12 years ago and after all these things i have tried...and i can't even walk out across my backyard to grow a garden anymore, or walk down the driveway get the mail . Or clean my house or go for a walk with my husband. I am only 58. A good thing that i can say is that the assisants and 'nurses' Dr. LaPlante had are very sweet. My experience with Dr. Laplante doesn't even rate a star. It is not his fault that our personalities didn't match, that is if he has a personality, but after having me go for an x-ray, an MRI and blood work, he met with me and was ready to dismiss me with no medical advice or help at all. I had to ask him if I could get cortisone shots, which he then agreed to, and, after 1 1/2 weeks, I'm still waiting for someone from his staff to call me back and let me know that my insurance has approved the procedure. I would encourage anyone to seek out another pain management doctor. My experience with Dr. Laplante doesn't even rate a star. I don't mind someone that gets to the point quickly, but not when you your're snotty about it. Did not take any time to explain the procedure. I was supposed to have a pain block, which I did, but was still in so much pain through the procedure that I was shaking. My guess is that it did not work fast enough. In recovery, they practically pushed me out the door because they needed the bed. Afterwards, my pain did not subside. It became exponentially worse. Never again.

Dr. Laplante was very thorough and informative. Procedures were well described and executed as planned. I was very pleased with his performance. The office staff, on the other hand, is very frustrating. Scheduling, wait time, and overall environment are not positive. These are the face of your brand and you need to address the office and staff inefficiencies and performance!!
