Was not explanatory or knowledgeable ( explaining what could be causing the irregular heartbeat i.e electrolytes, thyroid, heart disease etc.) in explaining to me about what could be going on with our daughter. I asked for the office visit notes and dictation notes of the echocardiogram. I sensed a degree of stereotyping. I don't know everything but I thank GOD that I know what I do know and if you have a child who's having audible palpitations and an irregular heartbeat please find out what's going on. I could not help but feel as though, we were being shrugged off. Second opinion and never stop fighting for your child. Not good communication or investigation/empathy from the physician.

I have used Dr Cook for many years and he is a wonderful Dr. He seemed caring and took the time to answer all my questions. The staff there have always been very sweet.

Don't go if you are a single mom you will be treated like it's always a problem and discriminat Ed against if you get frustrated be aware they will report you do the DHR.i feel as if the staff and Dr had a personal problem with me. No charges were filed on me and she closed the case for not having enough evidence that I was too blame for my childs medical condition when it was all over I had my pediatrician switch us to B-ham Dr.Mcmahon. at UAB he is a good doctor who doesn't jump to conclusions.havent had a problem since and my son is doing well. Dr.Barton Cook saved our daughter’s life! She was in the hospital, after she collapsed, when he was called in to care for her. She had been misdiagnosed by another specialist. Then Dr. Cook identified the problem, developed a new plan of care, and she has flourished ever since. Thank you Dr. Cook!

Asking parents to bring children with an empty stomach and then having them wait an hour+ past their appointment time is ridiculous. On top of that, the lobby has chairs and adult magazines, nothing to occupy small children. They are obviously set up for children that are 5 or older. Finally, everyone you speak to asks the same questions. Do they not talk to each other? Do they not check the charts? The doctor also had no knowledge of our child’s medical history.
