Dr. Barry J Kemler

I did not like his approach. Instead of me telling him the background of my story all he did was ask questions and the more he asks questions he found answers he did not like. He was sarcastic with my answers. And decided not to take me because I worked with previous doctors who could not help me also. All he could say was He hopes the doctors that could not help me would help me. I waited a month to see this gastronologist as most of them were backed up and this one hadsuch great reviews. I am slowly losing faith in doctors and unfortunately left with a condition I have no way of solving on my own.

I saw his PA for over a yr. (She’s got a big ego and not very nice- even vindictive) I saw Dr Kemler recently and was very impressed. He is a very nice, caring doctor. Very educated and really cares about your health. I will see him from now on, even if I have to wait. I highly recommend him. Great experience.

These days it's not too often you come across a doctor who gives you patience and time. Dr. Kemler is old school and thorough. I feel confident being in his care and trust me, I have only ever said that about two other physicians in all my years.

Dr. Kemler was very professional and explained all my options thoroughly including pros and cons of procedures. The consultation was one of the best I have had as there was no pressure, he listened to my concerns and I left feeling that my decision was the right one at this time. Highly recommended.

Dr. Kemler carefully reviewed my symptoms. When he learned that I was leaving the area for the summer, he made sure I would be scheduled promptly for an endoscopy to get at the root of my issues before I left town.

He has very good bedside manners! I have been dealing with Dr. Kemler for years and I do highly recommend him for his kindness, patience and helpfulness!! He cares about his patients!

My father, Charles, 95yo said he really experienced a great interaction with Dr. Kemler: good eye contact, asked questions based on my comments, helped me to make a plan to resolve my problem and next step if needed, respectful, personable, knowledgeable, caring.

He did not have a good bedside manner with me. Maybe hes better with older patients. He came into the room, with an attitude saying " Pull up your mask." He was wearing 2 masks so don't know this was an issue for him, I wasn't sick or coughing. He was rude when I didn't respond specifically about his questions because it was hard for me to answer exactly how he wanted , and came out and said " Its a yes or no questions, rudely." He definitely wasn't treating me with a bit of concern or warmth. He was confused by looking at my other medical records from my OBGYN and asking me if my grandma had ovarian cancer at 63, I said that I never wrote that. I stood up and looked at the computer and saw it said " example: grandma ovarian cancer age 63 in black computer writing. All of my answers were circled no in teal. He proceeded to say I signed it and then said he didn't understand. He is clearly confused. I wanted to walk out at that point but unfortunately didn't.

It was the most comprehensive GI exam I have ever had. He listened and offered options.

Dr. Kemler was very thorough and asked a lot of questions. I felt like he really listened to my concerns.

Dr. Kemler is the best doctor--he's thorough, kind, and dedicated. He takes plenty of time with you, he asks you many questions, and he will not stop until he finds answers for you. As I said, he's the best!

Everyone was very professional and courteous. Procedure was week explained, questions patiently answered. Dr Kemler returned my phone call the same day.

Dr. Kemler is very knowledgeable, thorough and professional. He'll ask you a series of specific questions to gather information about whatever is ailing you and at the end he'll determine the best way to proceed to help you. Give the most specific answers you can as this will help him figure out what's going on and what possible issues you may be having. He has been my gastroenterologist for many years, I trust his opinion and have always received very good care. He had a calm, kind demeanor. He is a top doc in my book. I really don't feel he needs these types of recommendations at this point in his career but the group sent this request so I'm happy to do it for him. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH MY ON WEDNESDAY.

I have never had anything but excellent care and treatment from Dr. Kemler and his staff. The team is professional, friendly and efficient and Dr. Kemler is knowledgeable and personable. I highly recommend this practice if you are in search of a gastroenterologist.

Have been seeing Dr. Kemler for years, recently endoscopy want perfectly! Results were told By Dr.K. by the time I left. I was nervous when I arrived, but the staff took me as soon as I got to the lot (covid protocol). Nurses were friendly and caring, explaining every thing they were doing and what I was about to experience. Dr K. came into room, after light conversation to relax me.... I was out! I came to in recovery, instructions were given and made sure I was OK to leave once my ride arrived. Next morning just got a call checking once again I was doing well. Dr. Kemler is a nice Dr. Nice warm bedside manner. I appreciated him speaking with me after my procedure and being strait straight forward with me. I wish to have pictures and a report for my own records. Great job and I would recommend him to friends and family.

I have a patient of Dr Kemler for a number of years. I find him to be very competent and very caring for his patients. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to a friend.

Having had experience with three previous gastroenterologists over the past 25 years, I am by far the most satisfied with Dr. Kemler. He is the most attentive, thorough and courteous of the three. His office staff are easy to reach, very helpful, patient and efficient. I have been very satisfied now for the past five years with Dr. Kemler and his office.

Entire staff was tops.

Dr. Kemler has been my doctor for many years, and would think about going to another doctor. The center is well organized and most important very clean.

Friendly and professional. Dr. Kemler has performed about a half dozen procedures on me, and I have absolutely no complaints.

Dr Kemler is an amazing doctor, excellent GI doctor who I have 100% confidence in. Aside from being excellent as a practitioner, he is a good communicator and puts you at ease. I highly recommend Dr Kenler!

Dr. Kemler is great but the three star rating is because of my experience with his office staff. When I scheduled my colonoscopy I told them a time that was convenient for me because I am self-employed. Two days before my procedure his office staff tells me I needed to get a Covid test and it was up to me to figure out where to accomplish this. As anyone who has had to arrange for a Covid test will know, it is quite difficult to find a place offering rapid tests. My wife called the office and asked if they could schedule me someplace specific for the test and the response was that I could go to Kathy’s Urgent Care in Berlin at 6:00 a.m. and get in line because they had a limited number of rapid tests per day. The office claims to have called me a week prior to the procedure to tell me about the Covid test requirement and that I never returned their call. This was a blatant lie, I still have their voice message and I have my call log to prove I called them. All they told me was that my bloodwork was fine. The day before the procedure another staff person contacted me and told me my arrival time was for 2pm and the procedure was for 3pm. I corrected her and told her my arrival time was 1pm which I scheduled as such because I had to pay my employee to come in earlier and my wife had to arrange childcare. The woman insisted no, the arrival time was 2 pm. My wife then called the office and spoke to the same woman (unfortunately we did not get her name). My wife informed the woman that she had my paperwork and the arrival time was 1 pm. The woman admitted to my wife that there was a change and that the Office of Central Connecticut Endoscopy made that change. My wife immediately called Central Connecticut Endoscopy and they informed my wife that they do not manage or change Dr. Kemler’s schedule and that his staff at Starling had made the change. My wife called the office once again and the same woman answered, my wife asked why she had been lied to and demanded that I be placed back at the original time slot because we had arranged childcare for a specific time. She asked the woman for the office manager and was told the office manager was out. My wife then asked what the number was for the administrative office in Wethersfield and the woman said she did not know. Starling physicians has great doctors but some of the offices have very unprofessional staff. I had a previous experience where one of the offices did not update their system with the new contact number I provided in my patient information sheets. The staff was then leaving messages on my old number which I thought was a HIPAA violation. My wife wrote letters to the compliance office and at one point spoke to a woman named Linda. Linda never called my wife back after their initial contact. My wife then wrote to and left a message for Tracy King the CEO in Rocky Hill which went unanswered. They have unprofessional staff even at the highest levels but again the doctors are great. Dr. Kemler is great but the three star rating is because of my experience with his office staff.
