Dr Welch is an amazing doctor. He coiled my aneurysm and I feel so incredibly fortunate to have had his care. Not only does is knowledgeable and through but his bedside manner is of the highest quality. He takes his time, listens to concerns and is patient. Of course the man is busy, he is a highly Sought after neurosurgeon, but still he treats his patients with respect and care which sadly can be a rarity. Dr. Welch is truly the best doctor I've ever interacted with. He is personable and extremely gifted at translating complicated information, making it understandable for non doctors. He fights for his patients in ways many doctors wouldn't. He truly cares and wants the best for his patients and their families. Dr. Welch saved my life over six years ago. I arrived at the hospital with a brain aneurysm. He was very caring and straight forward with his answers to all my questions and never seemed too busy assuming me and my daughter he would do everything in his power to save my life.... I'm still here. Thank you Dr Welch!!!

Dr. Welch is truly the best Dr. I've ever interacted with. He is personable and extremely gifted at translating complicated information and making it understandable for non Dr's. He fights for his patients in ways many Dr's wouldn't. He truly cares and wants the best for his patients and their families. He treated my husband through over a year battle with a vascular disease and 7.5 months in a coma. So I got to know him well and know he worked tirelessly to do everything possible for my husband, including getting his national peers' input to make sure there wasn't anything else he could do. The team approach he and UT Southwestern use also greatly impacts the patients care for the better. I can't say enough good about Dr. Welch. We are so grateful for all he did to fight for my husband! I highly recommend Dr. Welch!

I had a vertebral artery dissection that caused a stroke. I went to see Dr. Welch to see if I needed a stent placed. I did not, but he had so much knowledge of how the brain works and recovers after stroke and VAD. He actually went through my scans with me. He helped ease my anxiety by always giving me detailed information and answering questions. He knows more about VADs than any other doctor, even my neurologist. Knowing I was from a small town with less access to critical care and where vads are unheard of, he has been available to answer VAD related questions. Dr. Welch saved my mother's life in 2007. She is still doing superb! I was recently diagnosed with a annie and I'm coming to see him for this!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR!!! Forever grateful!!!

Great at his profesion!

He saved our adult son's life in August 2015. We will always be grateful. Our son was transported from a small town that was clueless about traumatic brain injury.

Amazing talented & confident! My husband had an AVM removed 1 1/2 years ago. It was such a scary time for us, but Dr. Welch told us exactly what to expect. Polite but straight forward. He took good care of him every step of they way. I'm so grateful for his skill & kindness!

I found him not to be a good listener to know the patients past history nor communication what the future would hold. I found out right before the surgery that he was going to do the surgery and I met him for the first time after the surgery. It has been 2 months after the surgery and my loved one is worse off then before the surgery.

My life has taken a very positive turn due Dr Welch's skills and desire to truly better a patients quality of life. He's the best. I would recommend him to anyone. His staff is wonderful and goes out of their way to help you in any way possible

Saved my husbands life! He had a large AVM and it is now GONE! He was upfront honest with exactly what to expect and what needed to be done. We are SO grateful!!

In 2014, Dr Welch saved my life by clipping off an aneurysm in my brain, pressing on my optic nerve. Six months later, he did surgery on my brothers brain for an aneurysm in the same place as mine. My brother is struggling to recover, due to the damage seeping blood did to his brain. Dr Welch is straight forward, to the point, no menacing words, he is an excellent Surgeon and I owe my life and my brothers to him. I was referred to Dr. Welch because I had an unruptured brain aneurysm. He spent almost 2 hours with us during the initial consultation discussing all options. I decided to go with clipping the aneurysm with a craniotomy. The surgery went well, Zale Lipshy and staff of the neurology department were top notch, and Dr. Welch's caring bedside manner, along with his experience and knowledge were the reasons that I would recommend him and Zale Lipshy Hospital to anyone with brain issues.

Dr. Welch is an amazing neurosurgeon. He was upfront and honest in everything that he did with my husband. he saved my husband's life and I am so grateful for his knowledge. His bed side manner was great and so has each of our visits since my husband's two brain surgeries. I would recommend him to family and friends...

Dr. Welch is not your friend. He is not going to sugarcoat anything. He won't give it to you with compassion. He will give it to you straight up, including what he can do for you. He seems a bit cocky at first, which is what I prefer for MY brain surgeon. He does have a sense of humor, and will laugh with you, or laugh AT you WITH you. He will save your life, if he can.
