My primary referred me here and I got a call from the receptionist today. She hung up on me twice and never called me back. She made me wait on hold to speak with her when I called back too. She misquoted me the cost of the appointment and called me names and belittled me when I asked clarifying questions. Absolutely terrible! My doctor gave me a referral here, but found another doctor that was closer. I received a call from Dr. Ghoshals office to schedule an appointment, I informed her that I found another neurologist she said someone better, I said no closer and she hung up on me. Zero stars for dr Ghoshal office . The receptionist is very rude and she does not have any manners when talking to the patients. I canceled my first appointment for emergency reasons and I called her, I explained her everything and I rescheduled my appointment again, when I went to my appointment she was asking for 25 dollars and she said “you cannot make your appointment until you pay the 25 dollars”. The scale of 1-10 doesnt work here - this rates in negative territory I had an appointment for 11:30AM - got there at 10:30 - door was locked - knocked on the door no answer - stayed for 20 mins or so with no answer to our knocking - called office on phone no answers - tried operator - no answer finally left. When I got home called office finally got the receptionist - told her about my experience she said my appointment was for 11:30 and I appeared to early. I told her office hours said 9-5 and she got angry went on this rant about not providing prescriptions. I called in to schedule a neuro exam and the lady who answered the phone tried CHARGING ME over $320. She probably tried over charging me since I'm a professional athlete. It's a test that takes only 15 minutes and small paperwork to fill out. She was extremely rude to me when I mentioned I've had them done before for $160 and she said "Well go ahead and find another place that does it cheaper because we will not help you". ZERO Stars! If you are considering this office for quality care, I highly suggest that you look elsewhere. I work in the medical field and was referring a patient to this office. After months of them not scheduling our patient, I called to follow up myself. To my surprise, I was told by the receptionist that she "does not care about the patient, send him somewhere else." I asked for her name and she told me "that's none of my business, I don't have to tell you my name." She is by far the most unprofessional person that I have come acrossed. My mother and I were referred here by her doctor because they are supposed to work with her insurance (we called the insurance company to confirm, they said yes), but the receptionist told us that she still had to pay $165 even though her copay was supposed to be $25. She told us to sit down and that she was going to call the insurance company herself, and then told us that yes, we had to pay $165. But the thing is she never called anyone. ZERO STARS! MOST HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE I’ve ever had in dealing with a medical office or any type of service. I informed the receptionist that I had been given different information than had been provided to me on the day of my booking. When I questioned the new information and stated that I was not provided the same information at the time I booked my appointment she became argumentative. When I questioned her a second time regarding the information, she continued to argue. At this point I was appalled and frustrated. She said I’m cancelling your appointment and hung up on me! I called back to speak to the office manager, I got the same person, she said she was also the Office Manager. I asked why she cancelled my appointment and hung up on me and told her that I’ve been waiting over a month for this appointment, that I was in tears because of her demeanor and that I needed to be seen. I am giving two stars only because Dr. Ghoshal is very kind, patient, and took his time with me. The other side of it is, the receptionist is extremely rude, phone voicemails are never returned, phone calls are never answered. Most horrible experience I’ve ever had with a medical office or any office. There were discrepancies between my initial booking call and my second call for appointment Confirmation. When I questioned it the receptionist was argumentative. She got angry, cancelled my appt and hung up. I had been waiting over a month to be seen. I called back in tears because I needed the appointment. When I asked to speak to the office manager the same person answered and said she was the office manager. She yelled at me said I DESERVED to be in tears, that I was an IDIOT WITH NO BRAINS, and that I thought I was “so smart” when I was just an idiot. Complete verbal and workplace violence. Dr was great and prescribed the necessary medication. Unfortunately his wife runs the place and she made it very clear to me in a rude tone that signing, dating and faxing an Rx form once a month was "too much paperwork for her and they aren't doing that". Don't even waste your time making an appointment.

After a bad experience with Dr. Rafanov, I was referred to Dr. Ghoshal for abnormal lesions on my brain that are actively progressing. It has been 8 weeks since my referral was sent out so I checked in with my regular doctor to see if it was approved and it was. So she gave me the contact information for Dr. Ghoshal. I called the office and was greeted by his wife whom is the front office staff. I asked to schedule an appointment and because she could not find my referral information she began to scream at me accusing me of sending her on a wild goose chance and stating that I had wasted her time and that I need to get my facts straight before calling to schedule an appointment with a medical professional . She the told me I would not be welcome at her place of business and I would need to have my regular doctor refer me elsewhere. I didn't even get to get a single word in before she hung up on me. My husband went to this office for 10 years after work accident. They refuse to see him several times with no reason. After we cancel an appointment because we weren't at town we couldn't make another one. My husband needs medication refill but receptionist yelled she will not do it. At least he wants to help. It takes a lot to help people you know might die under your care and takes every ounce of skill. Looks aren't everything.

I arrived at 9:45 knowing that the office open at 9 according to the answering machine.I tried the door upon arrival it was locked I waited till 10 or was still locked I tried knocking I tried calling I even left a message with the answering service saying that I need to leave at 10:30 if they were not going to answer the door because the receptionist stated that I was not allowed to bring my child and I needed to be able to pick her up on time. I get a call back from the receptionist with nothing but attitude from her when all I was trying to do was explain the message that I had left with the answering service. She hung up on me I called back and asked why she hung up on me, and she said we don't want any trashy patients and hung up on me again!

See update below. My wife went here, and they charged a copay that they were not entitled to. When asked to refund it they said to mail a copy of the statement showing the charge, and they would refund it. Weeks later they claimed they didn't receive it. I said I could bring it to their office. When I did. They still refused to pay and refused to speak to the insurance rep I got on the phone. So incredibly unprofessional and disgusting! Update: after I wrote my review the doctor called to say they would mail a refund check, which we did receive. Changing to 4 stars since Dr Goshal had agreed to see my wife on very short notice. Impossible to work with the front desk. Rude, hung up on me because she did not have a referral for me but would not let me speak to tell her I had it in my hand. The doctor also yelled at me and hung up on me when I called the emergency line in the evening when I thought my son was having stroke symptoms (he had already had a stroke). Very unprofessional and uncaring. This doesn't count standing outside the office waiting for someone to open the door after my appointment time. 0 stars!

First and last visit with this doctor! Waited outside on porch with 6 other patients while no one was in office; finally showed up around 10:40 a.m. (my appt was at 10:00). No apologies for their tardiness. I have been waiting for the doctor's report for 3 1/2 weeks and no response. The office phone is never answered, and it's impossible to leave a message as the voicemail box is always full. This is the most unprofessional practice I've ever encountered in my life!

Terrible

I can't describe how my experience went but horrible terrifying and lied too. I went to see him and he barley said a word too me. He also missed diagnosed me with water on the brain which is Not what i have I have a brain tumor which I would of never known if my obgyn didn't send me to the ER to get a second opinion cause her trying to get a hold of him was not working he was ignoring her calls for more then a month now and wouldn't return any of mine. I saw him in October and the ER did the new MRI 1 month later and they said that the pictures from the first scan and there's were identical. So this neurologist didn't look at my images obviously cause having water on your brain and having a brain turmor are totally different. Never got to meet the Dr. I couldn’t get passed the certifiably insane receptionist that has not a compassionate bone in her body. After reading all the reviews and knowing that there was a crazy lady (I’m trying to stay away from using profanity) working there, I came in prepared and made sure I brought everything she told me to bring. She became angry because I brought in my clients MediCal and Healthnet card. Apparently, I should have only brought in his Healthnet card and she shamed me for bringing in more insurance cards than I needed to. Attempted to speak with this office to get a document signed. Woman on phone, heavy indian accent, told me they are done printing out papers for the day. When she was informed that the resident needed an signed order today, she began to yell at me about not providing proper care and "playing around while the patient suffers". This is entirely confusing as I was calling to get what we needed for the patient and it it their office that refused to assist in any way. We called his office numerous times leaving messages & no return calls, finally got a call from them to confirm the appt at 10am & were told to be there 15 minutes early to fill out paper work. Showed up at 20 till to find a few other patients waiting outside of a locked door. She was in the hospital so I called to cancel. After she was released I called to make another appointment. She started yelling at me that we had cancelled twice, which is true but both times she was hospitalized and both times I called a couple days in advance to cancel. The Staff at the front desk this office can afford to discriminate against patients. One representative of this office, Anita, exhibits high discrimination against patients, that I personally faced on a phone, having an appointment with Dr. Asish Ghoshal. I was waiting for this appointment for two months, and when I set a date, I called in my insurance company to provide me with an interpreter with the Russian language, as the specifics of my pain does not allow me to fully describe to the doctor in English. I suspect that after learning that I am the Russian-speaking patient, although I ethnically Ukrainian, my insurance company was introduced specially in the hype and that my appointment not in July but in September. My mistake was, that I not call to the office and check this information. I trusted. But in July, the day before the appointment, I get a call about a reminder for the appointment for tomorrow. When I asked, who had informed my insurance company and entered into the hype, their answer was that they could not provide any interpreter, and offered to find someone else who can help me with the translation. Then I called the insurance company to help me with the translation. The representative of the insurance company called the doctor's office, that make sure I really have an appointment for tomorrow with the doctor. While I was waiting an answer from insurance, the representative from the front desk of the Doctor's office, Anita, called me and said that she would cancel my appointment and called me "Russian pig" and adding that You are a Russian, come in large numbers in the United States. However, I told her that you have no right to revoke my appointment and I do not give you any permission for that, but she said , she is cancelled my appointment for tomorrow. When the representative of the insurance called back to confirm that the granting me an interpreter, I told him about a canceled appointment, and it was a big surprise for him. When he called back to the office, Anita beginning to lie, that it was about a transportation, but not a translator and that I threatened her, even though she did not give me the words to say. And , that they could not make me an appointment in September, because the schedule of the Doctor is busy for that time. Therefore, if you do not want to encounter any surprises with this office and get into a similar situation, never making any appointments with this doctor. Dr. Ghoshal is a kind helpful doctor however his receptionist is a nightmare. She is rude, unhelpful and unkind to patients that need Drs help. We will never go back and will find a doctor that also has great staff working for them.

The receptionist is the most unprofessional I have ever had contact with. I was trying make an appointment for my sister. She said it would be the end of May and I said ok but she didn't have enough medicine to last until then & she said that was not her problem and hung up. I called back & told her she did not give me the date & she said & I am not going to because you are a terrible person & not fit to be a caregiver.. & slammed the phone in my ear. Who can we report this rude behavior ?

I would have to say this is the worst experience I have ever had with a business, let alone a Dr's office. I was dismissed as a patient before I could even walk through the door. The receptionist was horrible. She was rude and I believe she had to be related to the doctor or should would be fired for talking to patients the way she does on the phone.

If there was a star for lower than poor that would be acceptable for this office. The Doctor is not helpful. His staff member/receptionist on the other hand is a very unproffesional, rude and unsanitary human being. If she doesnt like what she hears she turns very nasty. This office does not believe in using paper towels or toilet seat covers or even TOILET PAPER. Im not sure if its because they are too cheap or if they are just dirty in general. Also dont be suprised if you get hung up on!

I was referred to him by my primary physician and Dr. Ghosal had me get a MRI on my back to help determine why I'm having pain throughout my right arm. The MRI was done 3 weeks ago and I have not received a call after leaving multiple messages. Once I was able to reach him over the phone, he told me I couldve called my primary physician and either I have to have surgery or physical therapy, also he said I could have seen my primary physician for the results. He shouldnt practice.

Rude receptionist

They are very unprofessional as worker and speak very negative to other professionals, so I can only agree with the patients that complain about how mean they are as health providers. Caring for a patient is a passion and if you don't exemplify this, I am pretty sure you are in the wrong profession. The receptionist is extremely unprofessional. I took an appointment because of a cancelation. The woman told me a time, i confirmed it with her 2x. I showed up and they weren't there, waited 2 hours and left. The lady called me back and ridiculed me, no apology, no reschedule. Worst experience ever with a health care provider.

If I could leave a zero star review, I would... This review is less about the doctor and more about the incredibly rude and unprofessional receptionist. After reading the other reviews-particularly regarding this woman, it's clear she should be fired and replaced immediately if this doctor wants to keep his business. Never before have I dealt with such a rude and despicable person in the medical arena and it is NOT ACCEPTABLE. My 85 year old grandmother is suffering from Alzheimer's and we were referred to this doctor from our family physician. Our first visit was fine, no complaints about the doctor or the office on that end. We had set up a second appointment for a monday morning, but unfortunately, my grandmother fell ill on Sunday and we had to take her to the emergency room. Still trying to be considerate, we called and left a message for the doctor Sunday night saying that the patient is in the hospital and clearly cannot come to her appointment. Monday morning, we were surprised to hear a rude message from this heavily accented woman claiming that if we cannot make an appointment we have to let them know more in advance and its considered a no-show. Quite appalled, my mother called to clear the situation up. She explained to the same rude accented lady that the patient is in the emergency room and therefore our call the day before was the best notice we could have given. Instead of being concerned for the patient or even just a nice normal human being, the woman started yelling over the phone and stating that she can only speak to the patient (who is unconscious at the emergency room) and she rudely stated "stop calling us! I don't have time for goofing around" and hung up on us. We called again to get her name or speak with an office manager, and she had the audacity to mutter some rude words before hanging up again. We tried calling a total of 4 times to speak to someone who was in charge, but only to be harassed by this woman who repeatedly kept hanging up every time we tried to get a word in. The fifth time I called she obviously sent me to voicemail where I left a rightfully angered voicemail for the doctor-but who knows if the doctor will ever get that message so I am taking this to yelp to get the word out of the extreme unprofessionalism and audacity to be so rude. This is unacceptable and the most unprofessional phone interaction I have ever experienced in my life. Terrible Practice puts Profit over Health Care. I am a Medicare patient and this office was given this info in my referral. When they confirmed she said bring my ins card any copayment. In all my 10 years all Dr bill Medicare and then me the difference. This lady wanted it upfront $28. Which is fine however I only had $22 she made me sit and wait 30 mins after telling me to put my money away and have a seat. To then only force me to reschedule because I was $6 dollars short she was very rude.

The experience I had w/ receptionist was traumatizing. To preface- I'm college educated, a small business owner, pay my taxes, etc. I drove 3 hrs to make appt. Receptionist tells me Im not insured and that I wasted her time. (Mind you I run my business by appts. so I respect time if anybody does!) I left office and called insurance to find that I am insured. Called back to let her know only to get yelled at like a child and hear personal attacks on my socio-economic status. #tearfullyinsulted

If I could leave a -10 I would. When I went and had my test done the receptionist was extremely rude when I asked her to make sure that my test results were sent to my doctor. She said if I wanted them sent there I had to give her the fax number. So I did and then drove 3 hours to my doctor's office. The report was never sent. When the doctor's office,thedoctor and myself called and asked the report to be sent she refused and yelled and Told me if I was more organized I should have picked it up

Horrible condescending doctor

As the other reviewers have stated this is the WORST place to go for any medical care! The dr's wife/receptionist is beyond rude, she was even rude even to the pharmacist when they would send request to the office for approval. Her behavior is almost sadistic and evil in nature and she is like this to anyone who walks in the door, she told my pharmacist on two different occasions that she would refill my prescriptions when she gets ready and not when the patient requests, so I was "lucky" if my request were done in 5 days, by then I ended up in the ER sick as a dog. They will even keep the phone off the hook so you can't call them. She almost gets a sick pleasure out of controlling people who are not healthy, maybe in her country that is how they treat people who are less fortunate in health and perhaps that's where they should be where that kind of practice is tolerated. The sad part is Dr. Ghoshal goes right along with his receptionist wife and does exactly the same as her, his approach is slightly different, but nastiness soon surfaces from him as well. Honestly, no stars should be given to this doctor's practice, and unprofessional is too kind of a word to describe the kind of business they run, if your require monitored medical care and rely and medications and treatment this is not the place to go at all. The Dr was fine - but his wife? Receptionist is a SERIOUS C-word. I saw Dr Ghoshal in Oct 2013. He was very nice. I liked him - he wanted me to get an ultrasound of my neck (to be ordered by my primary care- NO IDEA why he couldn't order it) and then come back. Meanwhile, I switched primary care dr's. And had explained to the new one the situation. So, 3 months go by and the receptionist PSYCHO RUDE lady calls me to schedule a "New patient appt". Now, I understood the confusion and tried explaining that I was not actually a "New patient" - She proceeded to try & argue w/ me?! I was like, CHECK YOUR FILES - I was seen in Oct.
