Update: the office manager did call me back after I left my original review and was very apologetic about the staff member who was rude, so I'll bump my star of 1 to a 3. Still, professionalism over the phone needs worked on. If you're a parent reading these reviews thinking about going to this dentist for your child, be aware. Original review: I had to do the phone tag run-around for 4 days. I'll admit that I am partly at fault. I have a newborn and missed the call back. WHOOPS. The receptionist made it a priority to argue about it and prove how right she was instead of actually stopping to listen and help. I'm not sure why phone tag is necessary when they could just answer the phone in the first place. I was interrupted multiple times. It takes zero dollars to be kind. With an 11 week old baby struggling to eat after a near-death delivery and NICU stay, I don’t have time for their nasty attitude whether I missed the call back or not. People shouldn't have to tolerate rudeness to get a lip tie revised. I called a different pediatric dentist and they referred me to an oral surgeon. They took my word and didn't require that the referral be sent before scheduling. The process to call the other dentist office, oral surgeon, and the baby's occupational therapist to send a copy of the referral took less than 15 minutes with them. Their office staff took the time to listen and let me explain what was going on. Do better.

Dr Patnoe's office is the BEST! I've went to them my whole life and I just graduated to an adult dentist and I'm so upset abt it lol. The staff is the best, I've loved my time at Charleston Pediatric Dentistry!

Dr. Patnoe has been my children’s dentist starting with our oldest child in 2001. She and her staff are the best always professional, friendly, and very caring towards all of their patients. Sadly today was our last visit to her office, my youngest is now 18. I recommend Dr Patnoe to all of my friends and family.

My son was nervous about his first dentist appointment but the staff made him feel safe and comfortable. They were nice and very professional. 100% recommended!

Everyone at Dr. Patnoe’s office is amazing! They are all so welcoming and kind every time I bring my kids in. We have been coming for several years and we have never had a bad experience. I love being able to fill all the forms online as well. They are very time efficient and I would recommend this office to everyone. I feel Dr. Patnoe and her staff give the best care. Wonderful Dentist and Staff and we love them all!

Sooo impressed with this office and their professionalism. Equally thankful for their care and interest when treating my son. I am very very happy with every interaction with this clinic. They do have quite the firewall setup before you get to your first appointment. Initially, my eyebrow went up, but I realized it would simply result in them giving the best care and service to my family as possible. So, I was okay with it. Always very assertive, never rude. Very straight-forward. Respectable.

Great experience every time, friendly staff!

The employees there are the best , kindest,and informational people every quick service and always let the kids know what they are going to do ,my girls love them.

Our son has special needs and is a very difficult patient. They do great both at the office and at camc womens and children's. We love this office and Dr. Patnoe.

We love Charleston pediatric dentistry. We’ve been coming for 10 years, with all three of my kids. Ryker is 4 and still is afraid. the staff did a wonderful job reassuring him and working fast and efficiently with minimal tears

The staff was super friendly! We had a wonderful experience, they explained the procedure in depth and were able to answer every question we had! If you are looking for a pediatric dentist I would definitely book with Charleston Pediatric Dentistry!

Awesome place to take your kids! My kiddo is not a fan of dentists or doctors (AT ALL), but they make her feel so comfortable explaining every step of the cleaning/procedure. Many would not go the distance of taking the time to do this. We drive over an hour, but it's well worth it. Also, super short wait times.

Policies changed - if you missed during Covid you are considered a new patient. Be sure to verify your insurance/ their policies from the beginning. ***Feedback for improvement: Front Desk/Registration staff need trained on office policies in regards to new patients/insurance coverage - to allow for better communication with parents. *** Our experience: Upon check in for my sons visit I was told that his MetLife insurance coverage was “looked up online, he was active & everything was good to go”. Our policy is 100% paid preventative care. After his cleaning was done and he was awaiting x-rays I was quoted $329 for the standard visit to be paid upfront. Then await for MetLife to review and reimburse the dental office and the the dental office will reimburse me - with no specified time frame. I would have simply chosen another provider and not continued with the appointment had I known this was their policy upfront. In my opinion best practice would be to explain this policy when the parent is making the initial appointment or at the least during check in. I have taken both of my children here for years .I brought my son to his appointment and she decided that she was going to bill us first then the insurance company. We have very good insurance. I don’t know what parent can afford to pay an entire balance upfront. She was also charging $900 for a small cavity on a baby tooth and sealant. 9 years we have been going here . I didn’t have the full amount so we had to leave . It’s not right . She has been seeing my children since they were 10 months old . Money talks I guess . My son was scheduled to have a Covid test done before he had surgery done to his mouth. We went to the hospital the date we were supposed to and they didn't receive the order for the test. I sat there for an hour and a half and they tried getting in contact with the office but no answer. So i left and called them the next day to let them know what happened. They rescheduled and I went to the hospital to only receive a call from the dentist that he was supposed to have his surgery that day. Bad communication all the way around. so I called back later on this year to reschedule only to find out they dismissed us. I'm very upset because my son has been going there since his very first appointment there. she knows my son teeth and now I have to find a different doctor to work on my son. Very good dentist, but reception is rude. I didn't take my kid there due to Covid. And now when I want to come back they said no because I haven't brought her since Jul 10 2019. How is that fair?

My son has went to this dentist for years, it’s the only dentist he has ever been to he is 7. When the pandemic started our appointments were rescheduled which was the way everywhere. My mother has COPD so we held off a little longer until she was able to get her covid Vaccine due to me being her caregiver, after she received her vaccine we tried to make an appointment They will now not see my son because they say he will have to be entered as a new patient & she won’t take a child over 5 as a new patient. also they tried to argue that he was 10 when in fact he is 7. I would understand if it wasn’t for the pandemic but how is any of that our fault? Other then that GREAT staff & GREAT dentist! We were patients from the time my son was 4 years old & regrettably we had to find another dentist. Not by choice. We missed one appt & were dismissed. Not to mention my son is on the spectrum & we had never missed any appts without cancelling. 1 appt seems a bit extreme to me & they we're horribly rude the day I found out. Because rather than calling & cancelling the appt that had been made, prior to us missing the one appt, they let us drive the hour & a half down there to tell us we were no longer patients. It was a terrible day in general as someone hit my dad on our way to the appt they didn't even bother to cancel. Its sad, but we found an equally qualified dentist & feel fortunate to have them, as they are much closer. I would however not recommend them as highly as before. The dentist yes, the staff member that waited on us & the others that didn't even have the decency to call ahead & let us know not to waste the hour an a half it takes traveling, to get to the ofc. She was my son's dentist for 12 years. Great staff and dentist. The only complaint is that they didnt value me as a consumer . I missed 2 appointments in 12 years and i was fired as a patient.
