Arya Nick Shamie

Dr. Shamie is an amazing surgeon. I went to him 11 years ago with a problem with my sacroiliac joint, upon the recommendation of my pain management doc in South OC. The diagnosis was an unstable SI joint, and the recommended surgery was a minimally invasive SI joint fusion. It went flawlessly. I saw Dr. Shamie last week, to check that all was well, and after a CT scan, the implants are in perfect condition and my joint is stable. He's very, very competent, and also a really nice guy to deal with. Highly recommended

Dr. Shamie performed surgery on my lower vertebrae to correct a very painful problem I had been suffering from for over 6 excruciating months. Upon my first meeting I felt an instant reassurance that he was going to help me. And he did!!! I am still healing but, as he told me, the healing takes time. It is getting better every day. I can't recommend Dr. Shamie enough. He is the best!!!

Unacceptable & unprofessional. I waited two hours to see the doctor. I was told by the reception Dr. Shamie often runs extremely late. I feel bad for the nice front desk staff dealing with angry patients like me. It would be easy if instructed by the doctor for staff to call or text patients of delayed appointments. Obviously, the doctor doesn't care about anyone else's time but his own. I will find another doctor. The office is dumpy.

Dr. Shamie was very informative on what he felt needed to be done with my spine, answered my questions and worked with me on scheduling my surgery when it worked for me. I've had MANY surgeries and this by far was one of the best experiences I've had. The doctor and his staff were very helpful and caring. My care throughout entire process from pre-op through, surgery & postop was top notch. They made sure I was always comfortable and made sure all of our questions were answered. I have never had better in-patient hospital care anywhere. I would recommend Dr. Shamie to anyone considering spine surgery.

I'm sure Dr. Shamie is a wonderful surgeon. But, in my consultation I was NOT impressed with him. His fellow keep me waiting for absolutely no good reason and, then, walked out of the room, when I complained. Dr. Shamie was brusque, distant, transactional and unhelpful. When I said I was as concerned about the anesthesiologist as I was about the surgeon (after he has just pointed out that I might DIE from the anesthesia), he said, "well, you don't get to pick your scrub nurse." I found that comment to be profoundly arrogant and unprofessional.

I entrusted Dr. Shamie as my surgeon for Microdiscectomy after visiting a number of potential surgeons and exhausting all holistic opportunities for relief. Dr. Shamie’s admin staff were straight forward and efficient throughout the process. Dr. Shamie was very skillful, caring, and present. I appreciated his years of expertise and his demeanor. I feel very blessed and couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Thank you!

I have had the best experience with Dr. Shamie; I had a lower back fusion just over a year ago. The results are amazing - no more crippling pain in my back, no more pain running down my legs!! Dr. Shamie is personable, listened to me and took the time to answer my questions. He and his staff have been so helpful and supportive.

I am currently 72 years young..gToday is November 9, 2021, my post operation date, for spinal surgery performed by Dr. Arya Nick Shamie. My life has changed for the best since my October 28, 2021 spinal surgery. My back and leg pain are literally gone and my walking is improving every day. I’m just so very happy with my DTRAX surgery with Dr. Shamie. I suffered for 6 long years, doing physical therapy, acupuncture and everything else you go through before finally saying yes to surgery. It’s a big decision but Dr. Shamie took the time to walk me through it so I was comfortable making the decision. Once I recovered from the surgery I’ve been pain free. Dr. Shamie was congenial, professional and highly skilled. I cannot speak highly enough regarding the diagnosis and surgery I received from him.

Dr. Shamie is a miracle worker. He solved a problem (disabling leg pain caused by my spine hitting a nerve) with minimally invasive surgery. He explains what he is doing and why he is doing it. He follows up. I recommend him without any reservation.

I was seeing Dr Shamie for over a year. He continually misdiagnosed my back pain and then eventually just said he doesn't know what it is. It's okay to not know what it is -- but the misdiagnoses set my recovery back indefinitely. On more than one occasion, our appointments lasted less than 2 minutes -- it was like he couldn't wait to get out the room and get to his next task. For something that was impacting my entire life, he could have shown some compassion at least. Wasted thousands of dollars and, more importantly, several months with Dr Shamie. I would definitely recommend trying another doctor first.

Go the experts! An excellent medical team headed by Dr. Arya N. Shamie and anesthesiologist Dr. Christina Nguyen. I recently had Anterior Cervical Discectomy (Decompression) Fusion (ACDF) C5-C6-C7 in UCLA Santa Monica CA. I was extremely nervous before the surgery specially after hearing all the “horror” stories about ACDF post op from my ACDF support group. Most people said they had a hard time swallowing and were on liquid diet for quite some time and their throat is very swollen. Having been in pain for quite some time, I convinced myself not to prolong my agony and face the adverse effects of ACDF surgery. My daughter woke me up along with the nurses. To my surprise, I can speak, swallow and no pain at all. I could hardly believe it myself because I was ready for the worst pain possible. I spoke to my daughter, “I can speak! I can swallow! I am not in pain! I was so thankful! I sincerely believe it is the medical expertise of Dr. Arya Shamie and his team that made it happen.

My 60 year old mom had an appointment today. She came in from Bakersfield to see Dr. Shamie. Unfortunately her visit was SHAMEFULL, based on her interaction with the office staff. She was stuck in backed up traffic on the 405, and had proof of the incident. The heartless staff wouldn’t even give her the opportunity to wait it out, while in pain, in the empty waiting room. She asked to use the restroom, because on top of her debilitating back pain, she also was suffering while in traffic, needing to use the bathroom and feeling sick due to the nervousness at being late for this long awaited appointment. The office manager had the nerve to badger her out of the restroom mid sickness threatening her with security. All of this happening in this large, quiet, empty waiting room. Heartless. Thanks for nothing Dr. SHAMEFULL.

Dr. Shamie preformed a successful discectomy/laminectomy on my L4 herniated disc in October. I am pain free for the first time in over two years. Recovery has not been much of an issue and I am slowly but surely returning to the life I knew before my disc went bad in 2016. To say that he helped me tremendously is an understatement. Highly recommend.

I have seen five plus surgeons, even paid out of pocket to a great spine surgeon who referred me highly recommend to Dr. Shamie. His demeanor was cordial although he didn't go over my MRI said he read it and it didn't match my symptoms telling me to go to a hand specialist. I have severe spinal stenosis, cervical mylopathy, why would he be this incompetent??? Supposedly he and a handful are experts. Anyway, he was wrong!! Found the top notch surgeon and its not this guy, disappointing

You found the right Doctor for your back pain! Dr. Shamie diagnosed my back pain and performed a Laminectomy/Lumbar Decompression which changed my life. I was having trouble sleeping at night and performing my normal duties at work. The post-op recovery wasn't as bad as I thought. With each passing day, I look forward to all the activities I use to do like fishing and hiking before the pain in my lower back took control of my life. Thank you Dr. Shamie and to my wife who recommended you.

I have had experiences with Dr. Shamie related to both me and my wife. He stands alone as far as competence, demeanor, and ease of communication. You couldn't find anyone better whatever the problem.

My husband fractured his spine and has seen many doctors all of which either sent him home with meds or wanted to do crazy invasive procedures. Dr. Shamie very personable & patient when he explained the procedure needed. Due to my husbands pain, he expedited my husbands surgery. My husband went from not being able to walk to 99.9% complete pain free recovery. Thank you so much for your professionalism & kind heart, god bless the work that you continue to do. Your the best!!!

After 10 years of doctors trying to keep me on pain meds, Dr Shamie put titanium pins through my SI joint, stabilizing it. My pain is 99% less and I feel great. His staff is fantastic and the other surgeons he works with are phenomenal!

Dr.Shamie is one of the worst doctors I have encountered. We went to him recommended by his family & friends and despite all this he catastrophically screwed up my mother's surgery. He did not open the nerve canals as he was supposed to, put in place implants that were not needed and was completely irresponsible. Avoid surgery with this surgeon at all costs. You can look him and see that he receives money from medical companies to promote their devices--same device he put inside my mother's back

Had complex lumbar decompression operation two weeks ago with amazingly good results. I am already up and feeling better than I have in years. Kudos Dr. Nick! You're my hero.
