*Posting for patient* When I first came to the office the week before Thanksgiving, I expected to be scheduled for cataract procedures months away with several weeks between each one. I was happily surprised at how quickly everything was scheduled and done. Everyone was kind, efficient, and answered all my questions patiently. I never had any discomfort with the procedure. Everything was great! I practically enjoyed myself on surgery day! The whole team was friendly, fun, set me at ease.

PLEASE!!! Be well versed in your insurance and legal rights before becoming a patient here In the process of becoming a patient I had a consult and then a records appointment which they submitted to my insurance company. Weeks later, they refused to submit to my insurance for surgery even though no prior authorization was necessary. They even refused to submit an advanced request which would have would have given them the answer they needed. I was then told by the office manager that “A new policy was instituted; the office was no longer taking ANYONE'S medical insurance for that procedure.” They proceeded to then require me to pay in full, up front, out of my own pocket, the doctors’ fees, if I wanted to move forward with the surgery. I asked for my medical records. They told me that to get a copy of my 7 page medical record it would be a $250 charge. The state of Connecticut’s portal clearly states “No provider shall charge more than sixty-five cents per page” I asked them to transfer them to my new eye doctor and they said they would then charge THAT doctor the $250 fee. Just a quick response- Dr. Romania stated hat I had excellent vision at the next day post operative visit. Totally inaccurate- I complained that my vison was worse. I even asked for an eyeglass prescription to tide me over until my vision improved.. The only mention of my retinopathy was at the pre-op visit, where he told me he could treat it after the cataract surgery. He NEVER mentioned Retina Group until my primary doctor called to tell him I was having problems and swelling. My doctor was told to refer me to Retina Group at that time. Dr. Romania never spoke to me. No call- no follow-up. I am not blaming him for the issues I'm having, It is possible that the condition just happened to worsen within a day or two of the cataract surgeries, but I do think that he should have at least followed-up with me personally. A quick office visit or phone call to explain the issue and tell me why he was not the best person to treat me would have been appropriate.

After 10 months and four different doctors I was referred to Dr.Romania and he diagnose my condition and prescribed the perfect medication for my eyes. And now I'm able to see perfectly.But the most important thing for me about this doctor was that he listen to me and my needs pertaining to my vision which is super important to me.Can't thank you enough.. I was referred to Dr. Romania for cataract surgery. His office was professional and courteous. And most importantly the outcome was fantastic - It exceeded my expectations. After the first eye was done, I could see distance THAT NIGHT without glasses after 35 years. After the second eye was done yesterday, I can type this even without “cheaters”. I had a significant astigmatism in one eye (but not the other) which did require a special lenses at an additional cost, but it was well worth it. I recommend Dr. Romania without hesitation.

Excellent surgeon, explains everything, personable, always sticks to appointment times. Did a great job on my cataract surgery. Highly recommend.

I was so nervous going in to have my cataracts done. Siobhán and the whole front desk made me feel safe and cared for. The whole team was really amazing to work with. I would not hesitate to tell any of my friends and family to come here.

Cataract surgery can be intimidating, and Dr. Romania and his staff comfort patients with their calm demeanor and professionalism. Furthermore, Dr. Romania gives his patients his personal cell phone number in the event he needs to be contacted, day or night. Not many doctors do that these days.

I highly recommend Doctor Romania, whom I commend for his professionalism, and knowledge. My catarct surgery was accomplished safely and quickly, with no complications. I now have 20/20 vision once again in both my eyes! His office staffers are extremely friendly, as well as helpful in guiding me both during and after the process. My optometrist recommended Dr. Romania for cataract evaluation...I hesitated for a bit due to my fears.. I highly recommend him not only because of his qualifications but because his entire staff was so welcoming, helpful and certainly put me at ease..

Dr. Romania and his staff have been wonderful. I was nervous about having surgery done to me eyes, however it has been one of the best decisions I have made. The ease, confidence, professionalism and personality with which Dr. Romania performs this surgery is a gift. Everything from billing to procedure and follow up was disclosed to me with transparency. I have since recommended Dr. Romania to several other friends. Surgery was truly life changing and I am grateful to have been with such an great team.

I Can't say enough praises. He saved my eye. After having a complicated Cataract surgery that went horribly wrong from another Doctor, he was able to help me. I sought him out after being told that my Cataract surgery would be difficult and risky to fix. He was open and honest and told me that although it is a complicated fix he was confident he could fix it for me. He clearly explained the risks. After going through with the surgery I can see with almost perfect vision. I will definitely go back to him to have my other eye done. I cant rave enough on how happy I am with the outcome. I went from being told at one office to just adjust and deal with it to being able to see!!! Not only is a great Doctor but he has a wonderful bedside manner and his staff is extremely welcoming. When it comes to Dr.Romania and his staff, the "eyes" certainly have it ! From my initial appointment through the successful cataract surgery. I experienced a level of trust and confidence, Beyond my expectations.

Easy to find near the Groton Post Office. Clean efficient office and easy to get around. My cataract surgery was clearly explained, also what kind of lenses I could choose from. I choose to adjust both my nearsightedness and astigmatism. The surgeries was performed at L&M Pequot, Same Day Surgery Unit. Dr Romania waited for me and explained again the procedure and what to expect. The Anaesthesiologist explains his plan for me depending on weight, age and my medications. The nurses gave me an excellent care and helped me to prepare. The surgery was quick without any difficulties. Dr Romanias hand felt secure and skilled. The following day I had a post-op meeting at the office. After that I could drive and the only thing is to be careful not to increase the pressure in the eyes. The pressure increases when I bend forward and move up and down quickly. I feel so lucky that it was dr Romania who helped me through all this. Easy to find near the Groton Post Office. Staff was efficient and managed to make what looked to be an awful experience (cataract surgery) seem a routine, minor surgery (which it is!). Dr. Romania himself is very personable as well as professional. Surgery at L&M in Groton was eased by an amazing group of nurses, anesthetists and a clerical staff who all made the experience relatively easy and pleasant. (This from a very-nervous-never-goes-to-a-doctor patient). I highly recommend this office and especially Dr. Romania!

After going to my eye doctor complaining of blurred vision I was referred to Dr. Romania who did cataract surgery.The surgery turned out fine but did not solve the original problem. Five months of trying different drops I was given ( free of charge) some drops that caused me to have severe pain. Not knowing what to do I decided to get a second opinion. I was informed by the Dr. and his assistant that they have never heard of anyone receiving these drops. These drops I was told were used to diala

Had cataract surgery from Dr Romania. It was a exceptional good experience, good explanations about the procedure and what lenses to choose. I have an excellent eyesight now and can drive and see good even at night. I got good explanations about activities after the procedure and well taken care of, could not have been better. The surgery was quick without complications and felt well taken care of. Thanks for my new eyesight!

I had cataract surgery on both eyes and could not be happier! Dr. Romania personally spent as much time as I needed to explain the process but more importantly the options available to me regarding the different focal points. I opted to have one set for computer distance and one for farther away. I am able to read books, cell phone etc... and see far enough to read street signs while driving - both without glasses. Dr. Romania personally spent as much time as I needed explaining the process but more importantly on the options available to me regarding different focal points. I opted to have one set at computer distance so I can read books and my cell phone and one set father away so I can read street signs - both without glasses! Dr Romania came highly recommended to me and I also recommend him for cataract/lens replacement surgery.

Dr. Romania did very well explaining the formation and impact of cataracts on the eye and the options for cataract surgery. My surgery went well and I am happy with the results! Plus, this surgery will take 10 strokes off my golf game! The staff of Tabitha, Lisa and Nancy were extremely helpful and friendly. I am very satisfied.

Dr Romaina is the best since my childhood doctor who saved my one eye after a nine year battle with 3 major operations and countless minor ones.
