The afternoon was well laid out for exams and the visit with Dr. Fakadej. I'm very pleased with the way I was treated and the explanations of services and proposed surgery. Only concern is the amount of time it took to "exit"; getting scheduled for the next medical appts was a 30 minute wait.

Dr. Fakadej is an excellent doctor. She also removed my mother's cataracts several years ago. She is very friendly, and takes time for any questions or concerns the patient may have . I would and have recommended her to all my friends and family.

Very confident in Dr Fakadej. She improved my vision tremendously after glaucoma surgery.

It is so sad that Dr. Fakadej seems to promote her own surgical agenda and associated fees, without regard to the true needs and preferences of the patient. Her surgical skills may be “great”, but in this case were without regard and consideration to what was most important to the patient. My husband has lost all near sighted vision, not corrected with “reading glasses” simply because Dr Fakadej did not support mono vision option and talked him out of that when he was able to see both near and far with the mono vision. He listened to her recommendations and now cannot see up close and also is experiencing some difficulties with far sight as well, post op. Please evaluate your options and do not place complete trust and confidence in a surgeon just based on credentials, awards and accolades. This does not always tell the true story of the life long impacts to a patients life and detrimental impacts to the literal ability to see effectively when following Dr Fakadej’s recommendations.

My wife had cataract surgery performed by Dr. Fakadej at the surgery center in Asheboro. Followup visits after a couple of days, where she complained on pain and vision loss only got comments such as "oh, she just has the flu". After almost a week, it was determined that her eye was infected, then had to go to the main location in Southern Pines, where a specialist injected 5 or 6 antibiotic shots into the eye. Her vision was 95% gone, and never got better. Visits to Duke Eye Care determined that the infection had destroyed most of the optic nerve, and that the vision would never return. They indicated that the infection occurred right after surgery. Dr. Fakadey bragged that this was only her 3rd mistake of this nature in 25 years of practicing, however, I have talked to others who had problems after she performed procedures on them. Beware!
