Ann Marie Macasa

I have been going to Dr Macasa for probably 8+ years now, only because she is the only rheumatologist in town. Every time I have been in her office I can hear her reprimanding her employees and it is so tense in there it is uncomfortable. When she is meeting with you she cuts you off, talks over you and just doesn’t listen. After this last appointment I decided I just can’t take her rudeness any longer and I’m going to drive into Portland to a new doctor.

Dr Makasa is thorough, knowledgeable and efficient. I also rarely have to wait past my appointment time.

This is the most unprofessional drs I've ever had the displeasure of working with. She is terribly inappropriate with her staff, reprimanding them in front of patients for the smallest things, often times sounding like mistakes made on her part. She talks about patients in the waiting room in front of patients including their current health plan and medications. She does not listen, rather talks over you and tells YOU how you're feeling and that it's all your fault for the way you eat or sleep. I'm pretty sure she just copies and pastes every visit onto the next. I got a copy of my medical records and the information was so old and outdated in the most recent chart notes. How can she possibly be giving accurate treatment advice if shes going by old charts! Seriously stay far away from this doctor, and her husband the office manager. They only want your business and money and couldnt care less about actually treating your condition!!

I was referred by my primary care Doctor on May 5th and today is June 9th I contacted the office 3 times and told to wait until the office contacted me. I was still waiting until today so I will be going elsewhere as this unacceptable for a Dr. office to take on new patients as the claim they want.

Dr. Macasa is quite seriously the reason I am able to have any sort of quality of life with RA. When she took over my care in 2014, she treated me as a WHOLE person, something my last rheumy failed at. Dr. Macasa genuinely cares and wants to do what is best for her patients, both for their RA needs and as a whole person. I tell everyone I meet how much I love her and happily recommend her.

Dr. Macasa was referred to me 3+ years ago when I moved to OR from LA. Most important I found her very interested in my case, knowledgable and focused on helping me. And she has! After three years I might be able to cut back on my meds which is great news. I read her reviews and don't care what she wears! I too have had staff issues but it appears she knew and corrected them as her staff is great now! Her job is to look after my health and she gets 5 stars in doing so! Highly recommend her!

I cancelled appointment (due to a very ill 88yr old mom); called 23.5 hours prior. It was considered a "no call no show". I wasn't informed, just rescheduled. The next appointment I woke up with a migraine and cancelled b/c I couldn't drive. When trying to reschedule I was told they dropped me. My RA was flaring and I had no rx refills. 6 months later, I received a bill charging me 75x2. Never warned, left in pain and then to charge me! Thought dr helped people, not kick them when down.

I have been to see Dr. Macasa 4 times in the past 2 years. 1) Was told I would have to pay $10 for an office visit summary- free info anywhere else. 2) Called when knee pain became acute and was basically blown off by Dr. Macasa. 3) Called when I was running late & was charged $75 for a "No Show," and was cornered in the exam room and bullied by her husband for immediate payment before seeing the doctor!! He called the police when I told him to shut up. These people care about one thing--money.

I've been going to see her for over a year, but every time I go into the office it's tense and uncomfortable. When I'm waiting in the exam room I can hear her talking tersely to her employees. She definitely doesn't have a warm and friendly bedside manner, but after she changed my meds from the last rheumatologist I saw I do feel better. I will have no qualms though about changing to another doctor when I find one close by. I just don't care for the interactions I have there.

She is completely unprofessional. (wearing a skirt so short she had to hang on to it to sit down) If you have a simple case that is easily diagnosed she might do alright for you. But if your case is difficult she will not make the effort to pin anything down and will basically tell you to suck it up.) She does not listen and will log an inaccurate history.(I asked for my records on this last visit as I will not be seeing her again and very little of it was correct) GO ELSEWHERE!

She is caring and listens to concerns and problems and asks for clarification if she doesn't understand the problem
