I have seen Dr. Bess for a few years. First year I went, she had nurses working with her and was very helpful. The past two times (2 years) I have visited her office, she has had zero nurses so the front desk staff took my blood pressure. My last annual exam apparently came back abnormal, we later found that it was a false-positive (so she says), but she performed an endometrial biopsy with no nurse present, no medicine, did not tell me I would potentially need a driver. The procedure, it was SO painful I started to pass out. She quickly finished and had to leave me alone to grab me water, after she gave me a water she left me again to tend to another patient. You should never leave a patient that is passing out and still recovering, if she had nurses maybe this would have been avoided. I had to lay there until I felt better because I didn't have a driver! The frustrating thing is that I later found out I didn't even need this procedure. Do not recommend!

Be very careful with this doctor. She has caused countless women to have complications with their IUDs years later. I am one of them and now going through the horrifying and expensive experience to get it removed. Harrowing. This is by far the worst “doctor or gynecologist” practice I have experienced. I would describe doctor Bess as lacking warmth and bedside manner. She does not in any way communicate efficiently. She does not return phone calls when asked to numerous times. I once had to call an emergency line on a Saturday to actually get in contact with her. it should also be pointed it that it is also nearly impossible to make a call to her office and get through. It goes to a recording that I never got a returned call from; she’s clearly too busy. I needed a surgery and switched practices completely after dealing with deafening silence on her end, close to my surgery even, because she refused to return phone calls. It boggles my mind that a doctor would say that they’ve scheduled you for a procedure without ever checking in once with me to see if the massive procedure would be acceptable on a particular date and time. She then stated that due to me asking to move my records she had canceled the surgery she never bothered to confirm or mention to me to begin with. I’ve been going to Dr. Bess for over 6 years now and up until my first pregnancy i had great experience. However when i found out that i had a miscarriage Dr. Bess handled this horribly. She wasn’t empathetic at all. They way she delivered the news was so harsh which made the whole experience even worse. I listened to her instructions and tried again to have a baby and once i went through the second miscarriage, it even got worst in the office as i noticed her huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes when i was asking her questions. Then they had the nerve to ask me to make another appointment for any other questions that i had! That’s as the day i told myself i will never visit her office ever again. Dr Bess was very professional, polite, and even asked if I had questions or concerns to cover. Never felt rushed or pushed. Very pleased with my visit, glad I received the referral.

Save yourself a nightmare and find another gyno. She place and iud for me years ago (horrible experience) she did not communicate and when she saw I was in pain she huffed and left the room. Now years later as I’m at another practice I come to find out she cut my strings so short that the iud is lodged somewhere far up. Only solution is to get an operation that will cost me thousands to get it removed. Please stay far away from her!

I have been a patient of Dr. Bess' for many many years. I highly recommend her. She has a small practice and you are not just another file pulled before your visit. She is a doctor that knows her patients. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I was referred to Angela by one of my friends. Her office took several days to respond to my voicemail. Due to COVID I was forgiving. She eventually called me back, and scheduled an appointment for me. When she learned that she did not accept my insurance, she sent me an email and told me. I said "I understand." Then, two days later, she CANCELLED my appointment for no reason! I responded and asked why, and she did not reply. This is impersonal and unprofessional. I cannot trust that she will care for me as a patient.

Dr. Bess is a great doctor. She also treats both of my young adult girls. She has always been there for all three of us. Great bedside manner and very knowledgeable.

STAY AWAY!!!! This, unfortunately, is the first review I've ever left like this. I am not a person to do things publicly, but seeing this "Doctor" has left me permanent scarring, put me through years of pain, infections, and unnecessary misery, and her staff, minus one sweet nurse, is horribly rude. She rescheduled almost every appointment I made with her. She herself was rude and unknowledgeable on simple things, i.e. saying just because I had PCOS once, doesn't mean I still do. I am finally happy and recieving better care from an NP, in another practice, within the same building. If I can save one person from what I've experienced here, this was worth it. Please, look elsewhere if you ever plan to have children, or even recieve proper care from an OB. This went on from 2015-2019, while I trusted she was a Doctor that knew what she was doing. I am finally switching to another practice after years and years of leaving my appointment with Dr. Bess feeling unheard and often just bad about the questions I asked (or wanted to ask but felt too rushed to do so). Every appointment I have had I have gotten the impression from Dr. Bess that she has better things to do. Every concern I have voiced has been dismissed. Communication is also extremely poor. I have gotten emails intended for ANOTHER patient. I have sent messages that have been completely ignored and that have gotten no response. It is so complicated to switch practices because it is easier to just keep going to the same one and not have to take a chance on a new doctor, but even just calling for my records to be faxed to the new office reaffirms my decision to switch. The receptionist answered gruffly and sounded annoyed when I asked questions about how to transfer my records. She did not even ask me why I was switching practices. I called the place I intend to switch to to ask them what the protocol for getting new patient records is, and the woman on the phone explained it calmly and clearly to me. What a huge difference. If you are thinking about trying Dr. Bess, don't. If you are currently a patient who feels rushed, ignored, and belittled, it is time to make the switch. I love Dr. Bess. In the past there have been some poor choices in office staff. However, in my most recent visit, I was happy with the office staff. Most importantly I have found a wonderful GYN.

Judgy and condescending. Not very good bedside manner and doesn’t fight for you against insurance when a procedure is truly necessary. Poor communication as well.

I've worked in doctor's offices before and I would have been fired right away for talking to a patient the way I was just talked to by the front desk. Very rude, and made me feel like I was asking a stupid question.

Dr. Bass and her front office staff is very nice and pleasant. My only complaint which is the reason I stopped seeing her 7 years ago. The appts are so rushed that it feels inpersonable. If you have things you want or need to talk to her about make a list, don't let it be more than one or two items because you won't have time to discuss it. Leaving me with unanswered questions and health items I needed to discuss. Dr. Bass and her front office staff is very nice and pleasant. I love Dr. Bess! Been seeing her for a few years now...and absolutely love her!

She does what she does very well. She takes time to talk and she has exactly the kind of bedside manner that makes me as comfortable as I can be.

Short wait time if she is in the office. A few times I have gone for the first appointment of the day and she isn’t even in the office yet and comes rushing in very frantic. It’s not even that early. Her hours are very short and it hard for someone who can’t get off easy to make an appointment.

I've been seeing Dr. Bess for about 3 years now and I have always had a great experience with both her and her staff. They are helpful, friendly, and professional. Decided to post this after seeing negative comments regarding her office. She's been a wonderful doctor and I would recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Bess is absolutely amazing! I've been seeing her for about 6 years and I have always felt in the best of care. She always takes the time to explain and answer any questions I have. I love that she always calls me back her self for any concerns or questions I call the office with. Amazing personalized care. I highly recommend her

Short wait time, Dr. Bess is very knowledgeable about all products for women and could easily recommend the best for me based on my needs. The staff is very helpful and the follow-up on tests results are outstanding. The best in Loudoun. Dr. Bess has been my doctor for over 10 years.

I will not be returning to this provider. Very long story short, I was told I needed to get a cervical biopsy to determine if I had active or pre-cancer cells. Dr Bess told me that she would be out of the office the following week but would personally call me the with the results to discuss them and she never did. I had to call the office to request the results and was told that they would try to contact Dr Bess since she had to be the one to give the results to me. I finally received a call bac

i have a great time going, Dr. Bess is very professional and always makes sure my questions are answered, the staff is always friendly and I tend to be in and out with more knowledge very quickly.

I missed my first appointment by 30 minutes. It was scheduled for 10... my calendar said 10... my mom brain said 10:30?!? It was one of those days. Anyway, the front office staff was so polite and worked me in that day a little later since it's sooo hard to find time. They took me at their lunch time and I didn't even realize it until I called them one day and it said when they are closed for lunch on their answering machine. Dr. Bess is an amazing gynecologist. I went to see her to find an effective birth control method and find a solution to my painful periods. Her staff is very kind and funny, making the whole experience more pleasant. Dr. Bess addressed all my concerns and answered every question I had. Dr. Bess delivered two of my children (by c-section) and everything went perfectly! She has been my OBGYN for over 10 years and is amazing. I don't know what the front staff did to upset others, but that does not change my opinion of Dr. Bess. She is knowledgeable, patient, and caring. And I have never had trouble with the staff. I have been going to Dr. Bess for 5 years and now my college daughter sees her too. I she listens to me and offers different treatment plan options for me. My daughter feels the same way. I also used the weight loss plan through her office and lost 20 pounds, keeping it off for 2 years now!

Terrible front desk customer service. One receptionist in particular sounded miserable every time she answered the phone, and was incredibly rude and beyond unhelpful. It was so bad I won't be going back for that reason alone.

The worst! Rude incompetent staff. Dr. bess got my test results and did not go over them and the staff refused to release them for 3 days. I sent a report to the department of health. Don't go there.

Office is rude and unprofessional. Lots of ear and nose piercing. Phone calls are not returned. An overall lack of communication and competence. Do not have any surgical procedures through this practice.

Dr. Bess was sensitive and caring with my 17 year old daughter's appt. She explained everything clearly and ran the appropriate tests, answering all our questions. The treatment agreed upon has been effective, using medications only as needed.
