Dr. Packer repaired several retinal tears and a detached retina for me a few years ago. Regular follow-up visits since then show everything is completely healthy. The office has streamlined visits since the pandemic began and wait time is minimal. The office has state of the art diagnostics.

Met Dr. Packer over fifteen years ago in an emergency situation. Met him in his office in the a.m. and by mid afternoon was having surgery to repair a detached retina. Dr. Packer is the most knowledgeable, caring and personable doctor I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I still see him every couple of months or so and he is always pleasant and accommodating and very easy to speak with. All in all great guy. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

I couldn’t ask for better eye care! Dr Packer is great, he is knowledgeable,informative,caring, gentle and even a little funny! He instantly put me at ease. I would highly recommend him and wouldn’t trust my eyes to any one else

In 2014 Dr Packer repaired a hole in the macular of my right eye. The surgery was at Hartford Hospital. Following the surgery I had to position face down for about 2 weeks. His patience, expertise and encouragement got me through this. I was terrified at first and now look back with excellent eyesight and gratitude for having met him. His staff was more than professional, they were right there with me when I called every time.

from reading Dr Packer's reviews, he is fine when all is well. However, if things do not go well for the patient, he changes to rude, arrogant and does not talk to his patient. The waiting period is 2 to 3 hours. Totally unacceptable. They book to get as many patients as possible - more money. My 87 year old aunt went through this. She is in constant eye pain because of his surgery. She can't get additional treatment with another doctor because of covid-19. After the surgery, he treated by aunt very poorly. This is inexcusable.

It's not very often one decides to thank a doctor for the work they perform. I would like to thank Dr. Packer, associated with Retina Consultants, Farmington, CT. and his capable assistant for their team experience and professionalism. Sensitive issues, concerning my eyes were dealt with patience, knowledge and understanding. I highly recommend Dr. Andrew Packer and his staff.

I have seen yearly Dr. Packer since 1993, when I had a retinal detachment - age of 43. The condition in my case probably would be called degenerative Myopia. My doctor here in New London thought it not detached, but recommended seeing his "guru". That alone calmed me down. 2 days later I saw Dr. Packer. Yep, it was a detached retina and putting a little bit of pressure on the eye convinced him he could fix it. And he strongly suggested, while we do the right eye, we should do the left eye a few days later. Yes, this was scary stuff. But his coolness and levelheadedness calmed me down, realizing I was being cared for by probably the best in the business. After the surgery, which back at that time was a scleral Buckle. I was more nearsighted. That condition remained until cataracts surgery age 62 . After that, and now with minor correction, my sight is 20/25 right, 20/20 left. NEVER was my sight ever that good! Thank you Dr. Parker!! I can fly a plane again!

Dr. Packer has been treating my condition for 13 years and he has taken good care of me. Due to the distance, he actually referred me to an ophthalmologist near me. The only fly in the ointment is that his services are highly sought after and he is very busy, resulting in long waits. Nonetheless, he would still spend as much time on me as needed.

I needed retina surgery. The entire experience went as well as possible. Dr. Packer did a great job on my eye and I'd highly recommend him.

Went for a followup visit yesterday (11/8/2019) marking 30 years since he did a left vitrrectomy. I have type 1 diabes since the age of 12 (I'm 65 now). My local eye doc referred me to Dr Packer for complications from retinopathy. I had multiple laser treatments but had hemorrhaged into the vitreous chamber and had not been able to see out of my left eye for 5-6 months. Doc told me I needed surgery and told me his OR days. He performed the op the next day wwith significant improvement. Thirty years later my vision in the left eye is 20/25 and i was able to pull two letters off the 20/20 line. I am sure I am one of his favorite case presentations. Great job from a thankful patient.

Excellent retinal specialist. I have been under his care for 10 years including detached retina repair and several laser procedures for retinal tears. Precision work of highest quality provided with professional, caring team. Always there in emergency to get timely treatment.

Excellent doctor and staff. Needed emergency surgery due to AMD. Doctor took me right in the next day and saved my eyesight. Explains everything in detail. It’s been almost a year since the operation and all is great. Thanks again. Don’t hesitate if you need an exam or surgery. Well worth it !

When I was having vision issues it was determined that my retina was coming detached. My doctor sent me to Dr. Andrew Packer, who did my surgery and my vision is back to 20/20. THANK YOU Dr. Packer!!

Dr. Packer and his staff were very helpful and professional. I had never had any kind of surgery and was very nervous about my retinal surgery. All of the staff at Hartford Hospital put me at ease and explained ever step of the procedure. The post surgery follow up went very well. My retina became completely detached. Dr. Packer reattached my retina and was responsible for all my care after the surgerical proceedure. Dr. Packer restored my vision to 20/20 with the use of my regular glasses. I have nothing but praise for Dr. Packer, his surgical abilities, and his staff. He spends abundant time with patients during followup appointments. I presently live in Florida, but I continue to travel to Dr. Packer in Connecticut because I trust him with my sight.

Dr Packer and his staff were excellent to work with. I had a detached retina and my retina specialist eye doctor recommended Dr Packer. Cant say enough about his support staff also from getting paperwork completed to answering questions they are great. I can see why he is one of the top doctors in his field.

Dr. Packer performed a vitrectomy on me in December 2017 for a retinal pucker. My vision has continued to improve and I am extremely happy with the results. The procedure was not painful or uncomfortable and my recovery was uneventful. Dr. Packer and all of his staff are very professional and explain everything clearly and completely.

An initial procedure was done but further analysis indicated a need for further work. Surgery was scheduled 3 days later and the retina was attached via a Vitrectomy, with Endo Laser and Air Fluid Exchange. The detached retina and surgery occurred in March 2012. This surgery occurred now over 6 years ago. There have been no issues since occurring. I return yearly for follow up checks. All is well.

Dr. Packer performed vitrectomy surgery on 4/24/18 for a macular hole in my right eye. I would highly recommend Dr. Packer & his practice. Dr. Packer & his staff are very professional, friendly & helpful. There was no pain at all after the surgery. The week of face down positioning was the hardest part but the rental of the special chair made it easier. I believe the success of this surgery was Dr. Packer's expertise & my following post-op instructions to the tee. I now have 20/20 in the eye.

Excellent care, referred by our ophthalmologist for urgent retinal bleed abatement laser surgery. The entire staff performed pre -op tests in a professional and courteous manner, and Dr. Packer explained what was to happen during each step of the procedure. All was okay at three month follow up.

I had a detached Retina and went to Dr. Packer. He was absolutely incredible and explained the procedure and the recovery to me. In my case, all went well. the gas bubble was gone in 4 weeks, and my vision is 100% back to normal.

I am currently sitting and waiting to see Dr. Packer. It has been 2 hours and 15 minutes. Totally unacceptable. This was a scheduled visit. This is not the first time I have had to wait for an excessive amount of time. No value for people’s time.

My husband and I both have Dr. Packer and we both feel very fortunate to have him as our doctor. He has always been so kind to us and always takes time to listen to any concerns. We have also been lucky to have his very special nurse Ela. I would certainly highly recommend both of them. My husband had surgery by Dr. Packer and was very impressed by him.

In 2006, Dr. Packer repaired a macular hole in my left eye. Usable vision was totally absent in that eye. The procedure was delicate, to say the least. Excellent post surgical follow-up insured the course of recovery and stability of eye health over time. To say that I am satisfied doesn't touch the surface of my overwhelming gratitude. Dr. Packer saved the vision in my left eye which is currently sharper than the vision in my right eye. Thank you, Dr. Packer.

Dr. Packer I believe has saved my eye sight and continues to care for my eyes,also he is a cool guy

I woke up on New Year's day blind in my left eye. At the hospital I found out that I had a detached retina and they directed me to Dr. Packer. Dr. Packer assured me that he would be able to help me and explained the details of the procedure. My procedure took three visits over four days and I am now recovering well.' Dr. Packer and his staff were friendly and professional. From my first meeting with him, I knew I was going to be ok. Dr. Packer is awesome!

Dr. Packer was recommended by a retina specialist in New York City. "He's a great doctor and a good man". He was right! Dr. Packer and his office staff make you feel at ease from the minute you walk through the door! They are friendly and know what they're doing. They walk you through the process step by step! I'm not the best with drops or things near my eyes, but they were so understanding and made it easy! Dr. Pamcker is wonderful! My eyesight has improved amazingly!! I highly recommend him!

Dr Packer and his staff are awesome. They have been very friendly and caring during exams and treatments for my issue, CRVO. While I would prefer not to have this issue I was lucky enough to be referred to Dr. Packer's office for help. I can credit him and his staff, particulary Sara and Ray for alerting me to the fact that my Blood Pressure was high and I should seek medical assistance for that as well. Today my blood pressure is perfect and I continue to require fewer treatments for the CRVO

The doctor is knowledgeable and friendly, but frequently cancels appointments a few days beforehand. Not a good fit for anyone with a job.

Last year Dr. Packer performed surgery on my retina to correct a macular pucker. Improvement was excellent. Recovery was quick and easy. Just allow sufficient time for office visits.

I would never recommend this Eye doctor to anyone It was absolute torture I was never blinded so bad in my life. As if that wasn’t enough then he’s going to give me an attitude I don’t think so clearly too old school new techniques that either not taught or used...

I have been with Dr. Packer for approximately two years when he initially perform my retina detachment surgery. Since he has follow up with me on a regular interval. Dr. Packer is a very knowledgeable surgeon. He is personable and manifest a comfortable environment. I have always felt that I was in good hands. He does have a very good sense of humor. I would recommend Dr. Packer to anyone without any hesitation.

Dr Packer performed a surgical procedure to close a full thickness macular hole.. As a result there has been significant improvement and I consider the operation to have been successful. These comments are being made 8 months post operation.

I've been a patient of Dr Packer's since 2008, after receiving emergency retina surgery while on vacation in Tennesse. Dr Packer and his support personnel are always extremely friendly and helpful. Dr Packer has provided great council and has kept both my eyes in tip top shape since my 2008 retina surgery and I trust his care and judgement explicitly.

A partial loss of vision in my right eye was diagnosed by another ophthalmologist as a migraine. When the vision loss remained I went to Dr. Packer who immediately recognized a retinal tear and detachment. Treatment ordinarily would have been an immediate hospital stay, but my daughter's wedding was two days later. Dr. Packer then opted for gas bubble injection, followed by 24 hours of head positioning and laser. The procedure was a success and I walked my daughter down the aisle on schedule.

Provided excellent care. Performed two very successful surgeries on my eyes. Made me always feel very comfortable.

Dr. Andrew Packer is exceptional. His expertise combined with a warm wit and caring demeanor immediately elicits trust and confidence. An attentive listener, he answers questions clearly and thoroughly. While he sees many patients, he's always very calm and focused. His staff is also terrific. After he performed a vitrectomy on a medium-large macular hole, my vision has been restored with no distortion. Amazing! (The week of face-down recovery was tedious, but aided with audio books.)

Dr. Packer is very passionate at what he does. He explains everything so you can understand and feel comfortable about all procedures and treatments after. Office visits are convenient and all the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I am never nervous about my appointments.

Quite a remarkable and skilled doctor. I particularly appreciated how he connects with his patients to thoroughly explain the issue and approach to care along with putting me at ease right away. I was anxious about the surgery and outcome and he made me feel comfortable. If felt I received the best care with my questions answered and timely appointments. I would highly recommend Dr Packer to anyone with a retina issue.

I came to Dr Packer with a macular hole in my eye. He did surgery an my vision is better than it was before. I highly recommend him .

Thanks to Doctor Packer and his outstanding team I was able to fully recover from a detached retina incident in my left eye and he caught issues with my right eye before they got to that level. Totally professional from the doctors office to the operating room.

I was recently diagnosed with a macular hole in my right eye, and refereed to Dr. Packer, who took the time to explain what it was and what he would need to do to repair it. He and his staff were caring and knowledgeable. The surgery was a success and except for having to keep my face down 24/7 for a full week, it was uneventful. Dr. Packer has an amazing gift and is also a wonderful person. He is very concerned, caring, and reassuring. He has great bedside manner. He is the best!

Dr. Packer is a very experienced and caring physician. He spends time each appointment to answer any and all questions you have and explain your diagnosis and treatment in detail. In addition, his scribe Sarah is a wonderful caring person. Ask for her.
